This really puts alot into perspective. I guess it makes you think about all of those stupid little things we all tend to bicker about...i.e. who's turn it is to do the dishes. This story makes me want to be a better person!

I've found myself in a pickle! So, I'm hoping to get some advice from you ladies. I have known this friend for 20 years now. We have gone different ways in life but always kept in touch and made sure we knew what was going on in each others lives. When I moved away and she'd come to Toronto on business we always got together. I moved home a few years ago and even though we still didn't see each other alot - I considered this girl to be one of my very best friends. So, we both end up engaged and I just assumed we'd be in each other's weddings. WRONG. I was crushed when she told me who was in her bridal party and I wasn't one of them. And, I had to ask who she was having because I figured if she was going to ask me...she would have done it by that time. So, I didn't bother asking her to be in mine. Eventually - I came to feel like I wasn't going to get invited to her shower or stagette because I don't roll with her very clicky crowd of friends. But, don't people usually ask the bride who they should invite to these things?? My peeps have asked me who I want included. I waited and waited and realized I wasn't invited because her wedding date was getting closer. So, in my mind - if I'm not good enough to share in her wedding shower and stagette (two events that you normally want to share with your good friends), then why should I even go to the wedding. So, I made up some story about going to another wedding and not being able to get out of it because it was for a family member or my fiance's. Maybe it was wrong to lie...but, I'm just so crushed. I really thought we were great friends. She never mentioned anything about her shower...I finally saw a picture on facebook and sent her a message about how bummed I was to not be going to the wedding, but I could still go to her shower and stagette. She didn't even mention that she already had the shower...until I asked if the picture was from the shower. That's when she finally said that me not being invited was just an oversight and that she'd rather go to dinner with me...just me...so we could catch up. She didn't like the attention. But, all of her other friends were there. And, she actually had the nerve to tell me not to be upset and that I better not exclude her from my shower. Then her stagette rolled around....I had the pleasure of seeing those pictures - looked like fun...unfortunately I wasn't invited to that either! Her wedding day arrives and I felt so bummed to not see her get married. Again, saw pictures....and she was stunning and it looked like alot of fun. I have yet to congratulate her or even acknowledge that she got married. Just yesterday I got a message from her asking where I have been...and she hasn't heard from me in awhile. Please fill me in, LOVE her name. What LOVE? I don't get it. I don't feel like a very loved friend. I'm at a point in my life where I want to surround myself with good, caring people. I've never had much luck with girlfriends. That's why I don't have alot of them. I really valued her friendship and I thought we had the kind of relationship that didn't require phone calls everyday, hanging out every weekend, etc. I can't stand clingy people, nor could she. So, I thought we had a great friendship that would last until we were old. But, this is a pretty major event in her life that she did not include me in...and had the balls to tell me to not be upset. Like what she did is supposed to make me feel good?! So, basically - do I respond to her email or just ignore it and be done with it??

Yes, same problem on our end. I just sent out a mass email because our guests are not responding to us directly or it's - so and so is "planning" or "maybe" coming. I made note in the email that we can't plan a wedding without knowing numbers so please rsvp. Also, I made sure to mention that we update our website frequently so if you want to be kept in the loop be sure to check it because we are not going to be contacting each person individually....AND finally I mentioned our travel agent info again should they have any questions re: pricing, etc.

Good Morning All, My fiance and I are HOPEFULLY going to be there from March 5-12, 2010. Air Transat Holidays have cancelled our dates on us TWICE now and changed our departure gate TWICE (once being to a different province). Anyways, hopefully the dates will stick now because it's not fun to have to keep updating all of your guests after the invitations go out and now have the wrong dates on them. And, it's a pain in the butt for the ones that have already booked. We've just lost 4 of our guests because the new dates are no longer duable. I'm so bummed....as one of them was one of my bridesmaids. Anyways, we got a great rate. Club Golden for $1790. Taxes in. And, I've made sure they've honored it everytime they bump us around.

Not sure if any of you ladies know this...they do have a free wedding package at GHP. It is seems like they still offer most of the same things. It's on my home computer - I could email to anyone who wants to take a look. My fiance and I have opted to do the free wedding package. We are getting married in Canada a month or two prior to departure so we can have a canadian marriage certificate. It just saves alot of hassle & money. A friend of mine got married in Punta Cana in 2007 (i think) and it took a year to get her marriage license...and once you finally recieve it you have to have it translated which is quite expensive. So, opted to do the free wedding package, without a judge (so we also avoid the judge's fees), performed by one of the wedding co-ordinators...so it's going to be what they call a "symbolic ceremony". We have to send them our marriage certificate one month prior. The package includes 16 ppl and is $25/person above that....if memory serves me right. And, depending on how many people go with us - we might do the private dinner reception. Which I'm not totally sure why we'd pay for it...since it's an all inclusive vacation. We could walk down to the buffet or just go to one of the restaurants and really doesn't matter too much that we can't be seated together while we eat.

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to my fiance and I! Air Transat NOT ONLY changed our dates...they cancelled the flights all together out of the departure city...so we have to travel to a completely DIFFERENT province in order to get there in February. All of this after my invites went out...and we had 18 confirmed guests (meaning booked) before we even sent out our invitations. So, I know how you feel. Try not to let it upset you too much. There's nothing you can do about it, right?!

I'm just curious if anyone has the info on how many points each food/meal is worth?? I'm interested in starting this program, but like many brides...I'm on a really tight budget!! Any help would be appreciated! Great speadsheet by the way!

The way I look at it is like this. I see my soon to be husband everyday of my life. Which I love! We don't have kids (unless 2 dogs count?!), so we have time to focus on one another in our day to day lives. It's not too often we have a chance to go away with so many of the great people in our lives. We aren't planning anyone's trip for them. We just want them at the wedding/wedding dinner and party. If they choose to go off and do their own thing - that's fine with us. We will want some alone time too, I think our guests respect the fact that this is also our honeymoon ;0) And, to be honest - we know some of our guests are going away more for themselves than for us. We want to make the most of this trip and the time we have with our friends and family! It's going to be a very chill vacation.

I wasn't going to put anything on our invitations, but my soon to be mother-in-law insisted our guests should know not to bring gifts. So, on the last page of my passport invites i put - "Your presence is the only present we hope for".
