  1. thanks for the kind words Echo2 62 - it is hard not to let the words affect me but I will try to remember that this is our wedding day and regardless of what they think it isn't my issue. Funny thing is that I actually wish right now that they wouldn't come - I really hate to have someone there knowing that they would rather not be.
  2. we are doing our legal ceremony at home a couple of days prior to our departure for our destination wedding. We were only going to invite the immediate family but my mom pulled a guilt trip on me and insisted i invite extended family as well - to the church and to the after-wedding celebration at our house with appies and cake. I didn't want to do this because I wanted our wedding to be the "destination wedding" and of course I should have stuck with my gut instinct because now i'm getting people asking me why, if we are getting married here and having an intimate gathering after did they have to book the destination wedding - almost sounding annoyed. Did anyone else have this problem or is it just me - how do i handle their nasty remarks which are making me feel like going to Mexico (getting married in Cabo) is the worst thing that could have happened to them.
  3. I am getting married there in November. We are having a VERY basic wedding so I'm not too worried about set up or anything of that sort but I was worried about the photography not being that great - we are also using Mango. Are the photos you have shown here all by them? Are you able to post more to ease my nerves?
  4. I'm having the same issue. I'm also having my wedding at the Riu Palace and I was also thinking about Dreams. I ended up going with Riu because it is cheaper for everyone including ourselves and that's what we were looking for; to save money. If you have the wedding at Dreams people may still choose to stay elsewhere and 1) it's already more expensive and 2) they may still choose to stay elsewhere and now they may have to pay the day pass as well...so all in all I think they would be better off just staying at the one hotel which is already cheaper; Riu! I'm going to be sending out my invites which will have the Riu Palace info and nothing else. I'm also going to send out the quote received from my TA and just tell people...these are the prices...let me know if you want to come - no other options. If they ask then I will let them know about the rule. If they choose not to come because of this I'm okay with it!

  6. Hi Everyone, My fiance and I are getting married there on November 19, 2009. So excited Just a quick note that I think Daniela is fantastic. I've tried contacting so many other resorts in the Mayan Riviera and also in Cabo and she is by far the best I've dealt with. She is quick to respond and never sounds annoyed with my daily emails
  7. Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could email me the pricing information for the dinner receptions, cakes, photographers etc. I don't have enough points to open any of the attachments up. my email is [email protected]. thanks in advance. - lg
  8. Hi Everyone, I'm going to be a Cabo bride as well; just haven't officially booked a place. Looking at either Riu Palace or Dreams mid November 2009.
  9. quick question to the ladies...do any of you know the if the max number allowed for the dinner reception to be held at one of the a-la-carte restaurants it 20 people? that's what i'm understanding from the paperwork and that if there are more than 20 people you have to pay for a private event. could someone please confirm or tell me otherwise! thanks
  10. well, i've been receiving emails from "Diana" now so I assumed something was up. Diana mentioned in a previous email that there was a "change in administration" - i figured someone quit or was fired!!??!!
  11. Hi punkie569, would you be able to email me the info that the WC provided you while you were there? my email is [email protected]. Thanks in advance :0)
  12. Hi Ladies, I'm trying to book my wedding date for November 19, 2009 at the Grand Sunset Princess and just waiting for a reply from the wedding coordinator so that I can start booking everything else...photography, rooms etc. Just curious; how long did it typically take you guys to get replies back?
  13. it's also taking me a while to receive answers from the WC...I probably get one a week, if that! and right now I'm trying to just book my date and time. I'd probably feel better if I could at least get this done so that I can start working on the STD cards and invitations and to also booking the photographers and get quotes from TA. somehow I thought a destination wedding would be easier!!??!!
  14. Hi All, I'm glad to read that everyone has had good review's from the GSP/GRP; my fiance and I are just waiting for the wedding coordinator to confirm our date (which will hopefully be the week of November 17th, 2009). In the mean time, I was wondering if anyone could send me pictures of the bouquets, cakes etc. my email is [email protected]. Thanks in advance ladies
  15. Hi Ladies, I'm trying to figure out if I want to book my wedding reception at the Royal for November 17, 2009 but I am having a hard time with receiving ANY information from there. Can any of you lovely ladies possibly PM/email me the information sent to you from the WC at the Royal? I don't have enough points to open any of the attachments up and wanted to review pricing, menus, flowers, options etc. Also, I read and just wanted to confirm that the Royal does not host receptions at any of their restaurants - you HAVE to do a private event. Thanks Ladies

Also, you should note that the symbolic ceremony is in fact quite religious (religious readings). One or two brides have complained about this. I'm not even 100% clear on what the difference is between religious and symbolic. thanks for the info Sunbride I will definitely take a look at the list

You also need to take any marriage classes that are necessary at your local parish. That parish must send a letter to the priest in Mexico (which by the way, I am not sure if anyone at the hotel can help you find a priest) letting them know that you took the course and are ready to be married. Also, I think I saw somewhere that if you have a catholic wedding it will be performed in spanish not english. On the other hand, if you bring your own priest, I am not sure if some of the things above apply. Also, religious weddings are not legal in Mexico so it may be better to get married by a JOP at home before heading down which is what a lot of us are doing. Hope this helps. Thanks so much jerzygirl85 I've actually already been to my priest and he's given me the form to have the priest down in mexico fill out acknowledging that they will be performing the ceremony - my dilemma is that I can't take my marriage prep course before the priest down in mexico signs off on it and I'm due to start my class in mid March (I need to find a priest QUICK). I honestly would have no idea how to find a priest down there and hoping that the DT wedding coordinators can help out - wish me luck
  18. Hi Everyone, I don't have a date confirmed with DT but I'm shooting for early Jan 2010. We want a very BASIC wedding; ceremony to be Catholic in the chapel and then we were thinking of dinner at one of the restaurants to save some cash. Has anyone else done a religious ceremony at the DT? I've tried reading through the posts and I can't seem to get through the hundreds of pages attached. From what I've read it is mainly legal ceremonies occuring.
  19. Hi Everyone, This has probably been mentioned before but I can't honestly sit here and read ALL posts; I was curious to know about outside vendors - does Dreams allow this or not and if not do you know what photographers they work with?
  20. I have sent them several email with no response - seems like i'll have to hire someone to get in touch with them....
  21. I am so glad to hear the food is amazing and that everyone is happy with the service, ambiance etc. I have been trying to convince my fiance to have our reception there for the past month. I'm hoping that once we get down there for our site tour and eat at the restaurant that he will agree with me! I would love to see the pictures of the meals as well. Happy wedding to all
  22. Hi Everyone, I just found this resort and fell in love with it - well fell in love with "Dreams" resorts in general. We dont have a wedding date set just yet but leaning towards January 23, 2010. We will most likely be heading there for a site tour come Jan / Feb. This is all so exciting but a lot to take in I can't open any of the attachments within the thread because I dont have enough "points" therefore I hope by posting this I receive some and can see what everyone else is in awe of. chat soon - Lydia
  23. April, do you think you could email me the info? I dont seem to have enough "points" to download it. I have also filled out the info request form and have not heard back. Thanks :0) Lydia Quote: Originally Posted by AprilandPatrick We are having our reception there.
