  1. I'm glad I found this thread! Although I'm going to have my ceremony at Ceiba del Mar, I'm thinking we'll have our reception here. I've gotten through the first round of emails with them and am starting on round 2. I did ask for pictures of where the reception would take place, haven't gotten that yet. If you want some honest reviews, go to www.chowhound.com. It's a foodie forum board that I live and die by. They seem to like it on there.
  2. I have been talking to Denise and going through the stuff you emailed me. We're thinking this is the place!
  3. Is this the latest contact info? I'd like to email the WC directly.
  4. Afreeman21: Where are your guests staying in Playa? mrsscottyb: Same question for you!
  5. This is great! I haven't signed on for sure yet, but I've been talking to Jackie about a November or December 2009 wedding. My biggest question right now is where are your guests staying? Tulum or somewhere else on Riveria Maya? Can you also list hotels and transportation plans to get from lodging to the wedding? (Although I see we've already started talking about that one.)
  6. Bumping this to see if there were any more ideas. I'm focusing in the Riveria Maya.
  7. I know this is an old thread, but I'm bumping it to see if anyone has been married here recently. It looks like it's $7,500 to rent it for the wedding! Is this true?
  8. I have to apologize ahead of time, I seem to be in that stage where I just can't decide where to get married. I think I have it down, then I get distracted by a nice, shiny, new location. That being said, it's time to make the standard Debbie post on yet another location thread. My finance and I aren't really AI people. Are there any non-AI, boutique resorts in the Dominican Republic people have checked out? I did see the post for the Bavaro Jellyfish restaurant, so I'll definitely check that out. But any others? Also, why did all you DR brides pick the Dominican Republic over other destinations? Not sure if it makes a difference, but right now I'm looking at Ana Y Jose in Tulum Mexico. Just can't seem to settle on it.
  9. I can't wait to hear the review of your site visits! These are all places I'm interested in as well. Although this is the first time I've heard of Le Reve, gotta check that one out!
  10. Welcome! I'm looking at Ana Y Jose for a November or December 09 wedding. Haven't booked yet but am talking to Jackie now. We should start a Ana Y Jose brides thread!
  11. I was leaning towards Tulum, but this thread has me thinking Victoria House is the way to go! Anyone get married there recently?
  12. Oh my goodness, this is gorgeous! Exactly what I want. Does anyone know how to get a hold of Lyrebard? I'd love to ask her a million questions!
  13. This may have been answered already....tried reading through all the pages, but started going cross eyed! We don't want to have our wedding at Dreams, but some (or all) of our guests may stay there. Here goes: 1. Is there a Dreams travel agent that can get a discount on rooms? If so, can you list contact info? 2. Is there any sort of discount for booking a certain number of rooms? If so, how many rooms do you have to book? 3. How far is Dreams from Ana Y Jose? 4. Do non Dreams guests have to pay to spend the day there? 5. Does Dreams have meal options that don't include liquor (several of my guests are sober alcoholics)? 6. Does Dreams have meal options for non guests? 7. Do the prices listed on the website for room rates include food? 8. I know this is in the wrong thread, but if anybody knows if Any Y Jose has anything child care related, please let me know. Thanks!
  14. Now you've done it! Here are my first round of questions..... 1. Has anyone figured out if you can have a wedding there but not do a partial buyout? 2. If people aren't staying there, how much for them to come over and hang out at the pool? 3. We don't have children, but several of our guests do. (Think 5 children under the age of 5.) Is there anything for them to do there? Does PF have babysitting services? 4. Is there an AI nearby for those who feel they have to have one? 5. How do you really feel about the rocky beach? I know the rocks are gone now, but my main reason for choosing Mexico is a great beach amd I'm afraid they'll come back. 6. Has anyone done a tasting? Good food is very important to me. Whew, I think that's it! For now.
  15. I just heard about Playa Fiesta. It looks amazing and I have so many questions! Is this the right place to ask or should I email one of you?
  16. San Fran Sarah, I think you and I are going to get to be good friends! Right now this sounds like the way I'm going to go. Why did you choose Eurostars over Dreams?
  17. I've looked online at all of those and they're beautiful! And I see you picked Ana Y Jose, one of our top choices. Are your guests staying there? I'm afraid Tulum might be too rustic for some of my guests (small children, people used to AI's), so I'm wondering if there's something more resort-y nearby for them. While we an stay in beautiful Tulum!
  18. Thank you! That's a good way to look at it. Did you look at any options that weren't hotels at all? A beautiful remote beach you could have catered or a great restaurant not on hotel property?
  19. Hi ladies! So of course I just asked a question about AI's, but I'm also wondering if there are non AI wedding options. Meaning we would stay at one of the amazing AI's you mentioned, but go somewhere off site for the wedding. Is anyone doing this?
  20. This is what I love about this site, fast answers! To be even pickier, do you know if it's right in the middle of a super touristy area or is it a little further out? Our taste is no Senor Frog's or jet ski rentals if that makes sense. But I'm going online to check it out now!
  21. Hi ladies! Trying to plan a fall 09 wedding in Mexico. Is there an all-inclusive out there that allows kids but isn't kid centered, has a great beach and pool, and has a sushi restaurant included in the AI plan? I've been researching for hours, but it's hard to find somewhere with all of this info. Help!

It's a 4 night requirement arriving on wednesday and 5 nights arriving on thursday or friday. The rates start at 350 so it may be alot to ask of your guests depending on their financial situations. Dang it! I was looking at Maroma, but I know the majority of my guests couldn't stay there. Oh well.
  23. Hi ladies! I lurk a ton, but rarely post. I'm hoping you'll forgive me and help anyway! I'm considering a Riviera Maya wedding. I really want to get married in Tulum, but my family pointed out that my guests may prefer an all-inclusive vacation. We picked Tulum because it's one of the only towns in Riviera Maya where all inclusives barely exist; everything seems local, independent, all the things we love. I get my family's point though, scouting out amazing local restaurant's may not be my guests idea of a relaxing vacation. Unfortunately, I can't really picture us at an all inclusive. I'm really not a chain person, for food or hotel. And I'm not into touristy attractions either. A mega all inclusive resort with jet ski rental and a Senor Frog's would be the opposite of us. (Please don't misunderstand, I'm not calling these things bad, just saying it's not really us.) Can anyone think of an all-inclusive in the area that's more us? Ideally it would be small, incredible food, beautiful beach. The cherry on the sundae would be budget option for our less fortunate guests nearby (doesn't have to be a hotel, can be condos, etc). Does this place exist?
