I was planning to send out my invitations in the beginning of September BUT technically my travel agent says that Sept 15 is the last day to book because its 60 days prior to wedding date. Is this the date they gave you? I just dont know what to tell my guest when they ask when is the latest we can book? I dont want them to book Sept 15 because I need a wedding count prior to that for the wedding coordinator and for planning, etc. BUT if I tell the guest an earlier date (ie Aug) it will look wierd sending out invitations after the date I telll them is the last to book! I hope this makes sense! Soo...what did you do!? Fill me in! :-) We sent out our STD's in January and I have given our guests until August 14th to book. I plan on sending out our invitations at the end of this month. The reply date on my invitations matches the August 14th date. I wanted to allow some room for late responders. Hope that helps!!
  4. To all my November 14th date twins... we have exactly 5 months!!! Happy Planning!!
  5. dst10spr97 - yes, you can order everything else when you get there. I know a number of brides on the site that ordered everything once they got to the resort. Both of my fiancé’s aunt's are Delta's and we go back and forth all of the time. His younger cousin starts college in the fall and they have told her to remember the red and the white and I said no pink and green all the way!
  6. We picked SGOR because we have a very diverse group traveling with us to Jamaica. SGOR provides something for everyone. They have more restaurants and room options than Sandals MoBay. You have the ability to stay at SGOR and visit the other resorts.

I would LOVE to hear all about plans, ideas, or experiences at Beaches/Sandals, or just Jamaica in general! Hi Jessica, Have you checked out the Beaches/Sandals thread? There are a number of past Sandals/Beaches brides who have shared their experiences. Happy Planning!!
  8. avb1983- It's been about a month since I talked to my stateside wedding coordinator. I am working with Nina. She has been easy to work with. Who are you working with? We communicate by email. That way I have a paper trail. You have accomplished a lot in just a little over a month! I have been engaged since February 2008 and we booked SGOR in March 2008. This forum is the best resource!! I have gained 99.9% of my knowledge from past brides on this forum. Please ask away...

We just booked officially for October 8-13th at Dunn's River. Just got my confirmation. We are getting married on October 10th at 11am. I wanted to do it in the morning for better pics and hopefully it won't be so hot. I don't want to pass out saying my vows. Also did someone mention that you can just order all of the other stuff when you get there such as al cart photos, videographer, decorations, etc. We've already paid for the room, I'm just trying to get an idea of what else I would need to pay for in advance since our final payment is due beforehand. I believe our receipt says final payment due 8/24/2009 however I though it was due 30 days before? Hmmmmm That's a little earlier than 30. Yes, you can order a la carte items when you get there!
  10. Here is a link to another one that I use all of the time. I will paste my version of it on Friday. Yari's list was a lifesaver for me.I hope it helps you too!!! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t23302
  11. dst10spr97- Once I finish it, I will definitely post it. I would love to have it almost completed by the end of August. Hopefully that gives you enough time. Below is a link to another thread that has a day of timeline: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t22265 Sidebar - I pledged AKA Spr'96

  14. avb1983- I completely understand how you feel. Mi fiancé teases me constantly about how a destination wedding is supposed to be less stress and work...However, once you have a vision of what you want it's hard to work on the details of a place that you have not seen. When I meet with our onsite wedding coordinator; I plan on giving her a very detailed list of what I want with as many picture examples as possible and then also sharing my vision with one of my cousins who is very detailed and will make sure that my requests are followed. With that said I plan on letting them know my centerpieces, ceremony decor requests and reception requests ahead of time. I am sure there are going to be a few small things that I may want to change once we get there. At least the big ticket items are taken care of. waited until they got to the resort to order things.

What should we have picked out before we go and what should wait until we get there? Jamaicabride10- ahhhh, I would love if I can see a few pics from Dunn's River!! Hope you are enjoying your trip! I plan on trying to pay for as much as possible prior to our departure. I think that is completely up to you. Some past Sandals/Beaches brides have waited until they got to the resort to order things.
  16. It looks great. I did something similar to encourage our guests to book. We had a few guests who had said they were going but had not contacted our travel agent.
  17. I was waiting for this...thank you so much for sharing!!!
  18. Everything looks great. I love your welcome packets and tags!

I was under the impression from the info. sheet they provided that you were required to select ONLY ONE? Did you have to make a special request or did I just misunderstand their verbiage? Thanks and again, your invitations look fantastic! I plan to contact Sarah shortly to order our monogram, and now I am even more excited after seeing your beautiful invites! Yes, you are able to select two entree options. Final counts are due 45 days prior to your event. Once you speak with your WC she will be able to offer you more details. I also have two guests that are allergic to shrimp and they are willing to work around that for them. Everyone has to get the same appetizer and dessert.
  20. We plan on going into our first dance right after we are announced. I have seen it done both ways and I really like it after the introductions. Once the formalities are over, everyone can have fun and party!
