  1. Hey ladies, my DH and I are currently TTC and I actually spoke to my doctor about this exact thing. I had concerns that being on the pill for 11 years would mean it would take longer for my body to regulate than someone who had been on the pill for only a year or two for example. She calmed my fears my telling me that the research indicates that the amount of time you have been on the pill is not a factor. She emphaized that it has more to do with the individual and how long it takes that person to get rid of the synthetic hormones from their body, as well as how regular they were before going on the pill. If you were irregular before, you will be irregular after. Regular before, regular after. It just can take time for your body to begin ovulating normally after the pill. Â Good luck to all the other TTC's, and happy baby dreams to those with it on the brain!
  2. I just added my husbands name to my name when we got married. So now I have a first, a middle, and two last names, no hyphen. Both of our last names are short, I didn't want to lose my last name completely, so professionally and legally I go by my first name, my last name and his last name. Personally, I sign just his last name.
  3. How are all the mommies to be doing these days?? Some of you are getting close, how are you all feeling? Â I currently have BOTB since we are now officially TTC, so I would love to hear updates!
  4. We have recently switched to this method, but more in an effort to TTC rather than TTA. I LOVE this book. I had heard about temping and charting, but had no idea about cevical fluid or cervical position. Whether you are TTC or not, I think every woman should read it and gain a better understanding of their own bodies. I never realized how perfectly timed intercourse needs to be in order to get pregnant. Â If you don't own Taking Charge of Your Fertility, go buy it so you fully understand what is taking place in your body.
  5. To you ladies who want to drink on your honeymoon, I'll tell you what my doctor told me when I asked her last week about drinking and TTC. Â I asked her if I should give up drinking completly now that we are TTC, and that I would stop completely if she told me it would be best for my future child. Â Her response was that before you know you are pregnant, the embryo is so tiny and the blood flow between mother and baby is very minimal. She said later on its like the grand canyon with mom passing blood back and forth to baby, but when it is really early, it relatively minimal. She said as soon as you find out you're pregnant, obviously all drinking should stop, but before you miss your period, you don't have much to worry about. I wasn't talking about binge drinking (Ã la vacation style), I was talking about a couple of glasses of wine with dinner, but she definetly put my mind at ease. Â Obviously talk to your own doctor if you're concerned, and keep in mind alcohol does negatively affect fertility for both men and women, but if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't worry about drinking on my honeymoon after speaking to my own doc. Â Â Â
  6. An hour of Zumba yesterday and an hour of something today although I'm not sure what. Â
  7. Hey Ayita! How are things going for you? Hope you enjoyed your trip home to visit the fam and everything is going well with the pregnancy! Update please! Â Well, we're officially on cycle #1, and I have been surrounded by babies and preggies lately, so I'm extra excited to see how things go this month. After being on the pill for 11 years, I'm a little concerned about the effects of withdrawing from the hormones. I have been experiencing daily headaches since last wednesday (apperently a result of changes in estrogen levels) and have my appointment with my doctor to discuss the journey ahead of us. I'm excited to possibly have a baby on the way by next summer! Wish us baby dust!
  8. Last night was 1/2hour on the stationary bike, plus light weights & abs. Â Tonight, I should probably do something, but I may just end up laying tile so with running up and down the stairs from the 2nd floor to the basement to cut the tile, that has to amount to something. I should wear my HR monitor just to see.
  9. 30 min on the bike (8km) and 20 minutes of upper body resistance training
  10. Age has less to do with it than the commitment and time it takes to maintain and grow a healthy marriage. If someone is not dedicated to the marriage it won't be successful, no matter their age. With that being said, the reason people may say something about your ages is that often at the age of 18 people are much more selfish and less likely to compromise their own wants and wishes for another person. If you are both committed to growing together, and giving to one another, you will be successful, no matter what age you get married. We've only been married a year and half, but my husband and I are celebrating our 11 year anniversary of our first date tonight, and are happier today than we have ever been. We have been through alot since we were 16, and I have no regrets waiting until I was 26 to get married. If the decision is the right one for you and your fiancee, and you are both committed to the marriage, I wish you both a life happiness!
  11. Good luck Ayita. I tend to agree with your quote and feel that the emotional benefits of visiting your family outweigh any potential minor risks in a otherwise normal and healthy person. It also sounds as if the nurse is overstepping her boundries IMO. All I can think about is babies and TTC. DH and I have come to the decision that I will no longer continue on BC at the end of this cycle which means I will be taking my last BCP on August 12!! We are both ready to become parents, but I'm fully expecting for it to take a few months for me to regulate. I've been on the BCP for 11 years, and before that, I had extremely long cycles, but was fairly regular - so for that I'm hopeful. For me its important that we start TTC sooner rather than later because of a family history of uterine fibroid tumors. Both my grandmother and mother had hystorectomies due to multiple softball sized tumors that did not respond to alternate treatments. The odds go up when I get into my 30's that I will develop them, so for me the time for trying is now! I know that women are able to successfully carry a child while also having fibroids, but I would prefer to reduce my risk. I ordered TCOYF last week, and I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival by mail. I can't wait to crack that bad boy open! I'm fairly aware of my own body and my mom was always SUPER open about everything related to being a women, but I figure the more info I can acquire, the better! Good luck to all the TTC'ers and I'll pop back in when the BD has begun!
  12. Quick workout tonight - Abs and bike...about 300 cals burned according to my heart rate monitor.
  13. Last night, I did 40 minutes on the treadmill doing intervals and inclines, and then 25 minutes of lower body strength training plus abs. We also bought a stationary bike last night for the basement so my hubby can get a bit more active and I have an alternative to trekking to the gym 5 days a week. Yeah for cardio options at home!
  14. Its been a busy few weeks, but I'm back! 35 min on the elliptical and 25 min of upper body weights and abs...feels good!
  15. Heading off to spin with my friend right now...and hoping the AC works at the gym cause I don't want to melt in this 45 degree Celsius heat!
  16. 1/2 hour intense cardio, plus 1/2 hour of weights
  17. An hour of heavy weights last night and an hour of spin this morning
  18. Congrats Mrs Martin! You have my dream family, boy first, girl second - amazing!
  19. An hour of weights tonight, followed by a 45 min walk and 20 minutes of mowing the lawn with a push mower!
