  1. The best way for you to overcome your intimidation is to book a few sessions with a personal trainer who will be able to show you what you should be doing in the weight room. With a little education on proper technique, you will be confident in no time. Some gyms even offer free one-on-one or group orientations sessions to help people become more more comfortable with the equipment or with weights. Ask at the front desk at your gym and see what they offer! Quote: Originally Posted by Tennyt1 YES! 60mins on the elliptical machine + stretching. 5. Yesterday - Half hour run, and 1 hr of weights, plus I took the dog for a brisk walk since it wasn't too cold last night. Today - 1 hour spin class this morning
  6. I've been on prenatals for over a year without any concerns. I switched over because the prenatals were less expensive than my regular multi-vitamin, and I figured when the time comes for us to pull the goalie I'll be all set to go in terms of Folic Acid. I use the Costco generic, Kirkland.

  8. Hitting the pool today for an 45min swim....going to try to swim at least 1km with sprint intervals. I'm signing up for a mini-triathlon at the end of May so I need to start training!

  10. We are total DIY'ers! We bought our house almost two years ago, and so far, funds have been limited, so the work has been relatively superficia. We have managed to repaint the kitchen, dining room, living room, powder room, master bedroom, spare bedroom and the basement man cave, the front door, garage door and ouside trim, and we are set to paint the hallway in the upcoming months - we just need to find a ladder that will reach my 16 ft ceilings! We have also repainted the kitchen cabinets, and refaced the powder room vanity. Two of our bigger projects have been installing new baseboards and crown moulding on the mainfloor, and refacing the fireplace surround and hearth with beautiful marble 6"x24" meshed backed tiles that required some seriously detailed cutting with the wet saw! For electrical, we have replaced some of the light fixtures on the mainfloor (with 4 more left to do), and the one in our master bedroom. I personally have gone and changed each and every outlet and light switch from the ugly 80's beige that it was, to clean crisp white (i'm talking re-wiring here, not just replacing the faceplate). We still have totally gut both upstairs bathrooms, replace the tile in the front hall, rip out the carpet in the livingroom and replace it with hardwood to match the dining room, retile the backsplash in the kitchen. We plan to DIY all of that stuff, but we also need to replace the carpet upstairs and that will be contracted out. Between my hubby and I, we are pretty handy and patient people who love doing stuff ourselves. When babies come along, that might change, but for now - we are total DIYers!!
  11. Breakfast for me is at 6:30am and consists of : 1/4 cup (when dry) of oatmeal (and I recently switched to steel cut oats which are less processed), and I add 2 tbsp of wheat germ, 1tbsp of ground flax, 1tsp of cinnamon, and half a cup of frozen berries. Heat it up in the microwave, and top with a little bit of 1% milk and ta da! Quick, easy, and the blueberries add fiber and sweetness. I add the wheat germ and flax for fiber and Omega-3s. Approx 300 cals. At 9:30am, I have my morning snack which is 1/2 cup of plain, non-fat greek yogurt, topped with 1/2 cup of thawed berries, plus a cup of green tea. Approx 100 cals. This takes me through to lunch around noon without being hungry, and tastes delicious!

  16. Thanks ladies! Looks like this thread was revived from last year, but its still great to be a Mrs. As for the sand ceremony, we did it after the vows and kiss, before the signing of the registrar. That is when we were able to fit it in after discussing it with our coordinator. DWBride - I know, its always nice to know were to get stuff in Canada, so you don't have to pay an arm and leg in shipping and duty.
