  1. welcome, good luck with your planning!!
  2. Does anybody have any examples of STD wording where you don't know the resort or date yet? We have a very good idea but nothing is confirmed so we don't want to put any specific information in case things change. But at the same time we need to let our friends know about the DW asap as we know they will need to save up money. We have a wedding website so we are thinking of putting a cute poem and then just the website where they can keep checking. Other than that I don't know what else to do. Help?
  3. well Cuba is not known for their food. But it depends on what kind of eater you are. I personally have been to Cuba 4 times and have never had a problem with the food. But I LOVE seafood, which is in almost every dish they serve in one form or another, so if you don't like seafood you may be limited. Overall I would say that if you're not a picky eater back home then you'll be happy with the food in Cuba. It's definitely not gourmet, it doesn't compare to 5 star food in Europe, but its not bad food. The majority of people that I personally have seen unhappy with the Cuban food were also picky eaters back home. I have been dealing with TA Linsday on here and she has been nothing short of amazing! Send her a message and she'll help you find the right resort. With her help and some research of our own FH and I have decided on Paradisus Varadero. P.S go and look on tripadvisor too for reviews of resorts in Cuba.
  4. we just went to the travel show this weekend here in Toronto and a rep. was there from Paradisus Varadero. This resort looks amazing and the rep. was so very helpful. We're booking with them! YAY! Well the rep. was from Sol Melia and we talked abut all their resorts. If you are looking for adults only I would definitely tell you to look at the Paradisus Del Mar in Varadero!!!
  5. most songs by Elvis Crespo are great like Suavemente and Tu Sonrisa. Don Omar is a great artist too, he does Pobre Diabla and Dale Don Dale. Daddy Yankee is another excellent artist that has good songs like Gasolina and Cuentame trick Daddy has a song...Let's go (not really salsa but I love it lol) I find if you search for Reggaeton music as opposed to latin music you'll get more of the newer age stuff that gets people off their seats. Hope this helps!
  6. No I hadn't heard of them but I will definitely contact them soon, thank you very much!!
  7. We've finally decided on Cuba too!! We've also decided to stay in Varadero as its the only spot that has any night life really. We've been taking salsa lessons the past year and would like to put them to use. Do any of you ladies have a travel agent you could recommend for Cuba? There are questions I need answered about having a religious ceremony etx which a regular TA can't answer.
  8. Hi ladies!! Ok so I'm starting to plan for our DW and I'm having such a hard time already! I can't find a travel agent in or around Toronto that specializes in DW's. I have so many questions and regular travel agents don't have the answers. Does anybody know of any agents!!!
  9. congratulations and welcome!! Happy planning!
  10. congratulations and welcome!! Happy planning!
  11. Has anyone gotten married or getting married at the RIU Paradise Island, Bahamas? Its one of our choices, it looks very beautiful!
  12. the Iberostar Veradero is the "hot" spot right now for Cuban weddings. Check it out!
  13. Thank you Lizz. I was just in PA last week skiing at Sugarbush, awesome state!! I should also add that we're not really newbies at being engaged. We got engaed in August and after much pressure decided to have the big fat greek wedding here in Toronto, against our original wishes to go south. Now after A LOT of turmoil, arguing and fighting and crap from everybody, culminating in the termination of our engagement for a month, we have now gotten back together and back on track and have decided to do what we always wanted to do and that is go south. If people don't like it F** 'em. (can I say that?) If no one shows up to our wedding...that's just fine too.
  14. Congratulations to all ladies!!! Hmm a little about myself, my name is Sophie and we are planning on getting married in May of 2009. We have no idea what to do, where to start or where to go! The only thing I do know is that we have the hall for the AHR. lol Hopefully all you experienced ladies can help. Good luck to all and happy planning!!!
