  1. Flowers...I asked abotu bridesmaids flowers, as I don't want to spend $100+ on flowers for each of my 6BM. What I was told is that a lot of brides will pick a flower and then get like 5 of them and have them tied with a pretty ribbon. Then you are only charged on a per-flower basis. I tihnk that's a LOT more reasonable than the prices on the website. Tuxedos...I don't know what your grooms and GM are wearing, but, the MP does give the option to rent tuxes &/or suites from them...so you can do it without worrying about transporting it down or having to rent it for a week +
  2. PM me your email address and I can fwd you what they sent me last week. It was all the spaces. Apparently, the largest ballroom has movable walls, so if you have a smaller group, they'll probably give you a smaller portion of the room so you don't get "lost" in it

  6. I didn't see a thread like this, so I figured I'd start one. Just wondering where we all are with our planning? I've got the resort and the ceremony booked Sent out STD and a follow up post card Just sent in the contract to get a block of rooms Ordered my dress, going to look at BM dresses next week My biggest concern is invitations...when are you sending them out? I almost feel like I should send them out soon or not at all. If I wait to send them out, isn't it basically a waste since the people who are coming will have already booked? What do you think?

  13. FI works for the DSNY (Department of Sanitation of New York) as a Mechanic. He makes a lot more money than me and he didn't go to college. He did go to technical school to become a mechanic.
  14. Hey....those of you who mentioned being in journalism and broadcast......do you happen to cover financial topics? Mutual Funds? Personal Finance? Money Managers? LOL If so....I have some "experts" who you may want to talk to ;-) (can't blame me for trying...every contact helps). FI makes a lot more than me. He works for the NYC Department of Sanitation as a Mechanic. We can live TIGHTLY on just his salery...but we don't like to live tightly lol
  15. FI and I are going to do a TTD after the wedding. We are considering going with either Martha Roque from Cancun Photomemories or Michael Maurus with Cancun Wedding Photography. Does anyone have experience working with either photogropher? Good or bad? TIA!

Cutie...you have pleanty of time....and if you spend a lot of that time around here, you're gonna end up giving yourself a million DIY projects LOL If they don't offer it to you as an option, ask them about it. Tell them you were talking to another MP bride who had to pay her room in full to hold the group. I want fire dancers...so right now I am going back and forth with them about wheather I can have them or not...right now, they are saying no...we will see.....LOL
  17. According to what they sent me today, the Lake Terrace can accomodate up to 300 guests for a coctail reception and up to 150 guests for a buffet
  18. I got this from the FL office today "The function details are handled and finalized with your coordinator on-site. For the time being since she has not been assigned, I have attached more information on our locations and menus" FL office has been pretty good to us. Karina is our main contact. Takes her about 24 hours to respond to emails, but she does respond. About a month ago she tried to get me assigned to my onsite person because I had a lot of questions she couldn't answer LOL Onsite wasn't responsive, so she's been a middler person...I ask her, she asks them, she tells me their answeres. I'm hoping that once our room block is good to go, they'll assign my person and we can get the ball rolling. We signed the wedding contract in Feb. and JUST signed the group contract for the rooms. We're having them home 10 rooms thursday night and 25 rooms friday, sat, and sunday nights. Guests have up to 45 days before the wedding, if rooms aren't booked by then, they release them. To set up the contract we had 2 options...either put 10% down on each room, or pay for our room in full. We paid for our room in full, as we KNOW we'll be there LOL
  19. They JUST sent me pics of all the locations with the amount of people they fit. Pookie - How long ago did you book your reception. They said I can't do it until about 3 months before.

I only say that because when I'm reading other threads and people give suggestions or say things they've done, I always look to see where they're getting married. lol Sometimes I think they're a MP bride, not not sure and then I try to find their intro thread...random
  21. Hi there I get married at the MP January 17, 2009. We have a 2pm ceremony and I'm thinking directly after that we'll have a 2 hour coctail hour and then a dinner reception (emailed them yesterday to set this up). I wanted to bring an outside photographer as well, but it wasn't in the budget. Looking at others photos (Betsy and Kahjane...I think I spelled it wrong) I'm happy using the resorts photogs. However, we are going to do a TTD session using a local photog, we'll just do it off the resort. Hmmmmm...I think that's it for now. Oh, and we JUST set up our block of rooms...I'm still waiting for them to charge my card and send my link so guests can start booking (two already booked airfair lol).
