  1. Welcome and congrats! My suggestion would be to first figure out what part of Mexico you want to get married in and then the time of year...then look into resorts...then get out some save the dates We're getting married at the Moon Palace in Cancun - if you have any questions about it, let me know. Best of luck!!!!
  2. Congrats on your engagement!!! Welcome to the forum
  3. We've got a 2PM ceremony...our logic is (this is assuming we do our reception at the resort and not on a dinner boat we are considering)....2-3 or 4 ceremony/pics hang out at the bar...4-5 cocktail reception...5-9 or 10 reception & dancing and then we can head to the disco at the resort to dance. If we do the reception on the dinner boat it would be 2PM ceremony...then pics/drinks till 4...cocktail reception at the resort till around 5 and then head to dinner for 6...dinner/drinking/dancing till 10 and back to the resort where we can continue at the disco We're getting married in January
  4. Wow *HUG* Sorry you had to go throguh that!!! Good for you for sticking up for yourself! It's seriously not worth the stress!! It's actually one of the things I'm afraid of. We were planning a local wedding when I lost my job and then decided to do a destination wedding (what we have saved already can cover it). We had already asked our bridal party (7 girls 7 guys). So when we told them we changed plans, we told them all the same thing "we still want you to be in it if you can, but if you can't afford to be in it and come, we would rather you be there. If you can't afford to be in it or to come, we 100% understand" So far everyone says they're coming (2 guys are iffy)...we'll see who actually buys a dress and books when it comes down to it...
  5. Kiahjane How exciting!!! Actually, my biggest question/concern right now is photographer...are you brininging your own or using theirs? Should I PM you?
  6. Hi there everyone! I just posted an intro thread in the newbie section, but figured I'd post one here too My name is Desiree, my finace and I are getting married at the Moon Palace on January 17, 2009. We're sending out our save the date magnets (link below) along with a letter and a brochure of the resort, early next week. We've stayed at the Cancun Palace in 2005 and have plans to visit the Moon Palace this coming September. We're sending out about 130 invitations (almost 300 people when you add in families). We aren't sure how many people to expect, but we're guessing 50-75. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated I've already gotten a bunch of great ideas from this site and look forward to getting some more, and sharing some of ours!! 7. We're going in September and getting married there in January. Let me know how your wedding is, I'm sure it'll be spectacular!
  8. Hi Welcome back! I'm actually new myself. I just posted my introductory thread...we're getting married at the Moon Palace January 17, 2009. I've never stayed there before, but I have family who has and had an amazing time. We've actually stayed at the Cancun Place and were so impressed, that when it came time to decide where to get married, we knew exactly where. One of the things I like most about the palace resorts is that if you stay 3 or more nights, they actually include some excursions. As far as travel agents...we're in NYC and oru agent is in FL...as long as they're good, the distance doesn't matter Good luck!!!! Let me know if you have any questions about the Palace Resorts.
  9. Thanks, I'll probably do it to "& Family" for famalies and "& Guest" if I don't know the guests name...It'll make planning easier on my guests
  10. Here is a link to our save the date proof. They're magnets http://www.magnetstreet.com/proofs/E...A_2743B5F6.pdf
  11. I'll try to post the save the date as soon as I figure out how to post pics
  12. Ok, I searched, but didn't see an answer to my question, so I figured I'd just ask, sorry if I'm repeating something...... We are sending out our save the dates early next week and I'm working on the addresses, I've already decided to put "& guest" if they're single or I don't know their boyfriend/girlfriends name, my question is about inviting families... I know on the actual invitation, you're just supposed to put Mr & Mrs John Smith and on the inner envelope put Mr & Mrs John Smith and Lisa & Bob. Is it ok to address the save the date to "The Smith Family" so that when they start booking, they know the kids are invited too. Thanks! Desiree
