Do you ever regret your union dues… I know I see them deducted from my pay, and I always wonder why….BUT NOT TODAY! I am so excited I had to share with someone!!! Our Union, after almost 2 years of deliberation finally agreed to a tentative agreement for us. And…drum-roll please…we get almost a 4000$ increase! And about that much in back pay as well, give or take taxes of course, since the contract expired in June of 2007!! This could not have come at a better time!! We are bombarded with Credit card debt, we always manage to make at least the minimum payments, mostly double or triple payments, but this will help SO MUCH!! I get in tears whenever I think about the amount of debt we are accumulating, so now the card is in the FREEZER! It should pay about 1/3 of our Credit Card debt!! WOOHOO!!! We want to pay it all off before we even think of getting a house! And now that is so much sooner! It feels like I can be happy about our wedding again!!! Word of advice for your MasterCard holders, did you know you can call them every 6 months, even if you only make minimum payments, and ask for them to adjust your interest rate to your lowest possible rate??!! This has helped us SO much! I have saved thousands of dollars by sticking a reminder in my phone telling me to call and ask for a re-adjustment! I am so excited!!!! … Maybe now I will get a second dress….

FI doesn't like lip gloss/color - what to do wedding day?
Virg replied to nicoleandscott's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
what about those long stay lipstick, the ones that you are supposed to be able to eat 7 drink with... Mine feels the same way, but he is ok with it, as long as it doesn't rub off on him..lol -

Paying for bridesmaids' and groomsmen's clothes?

Its not required but i would be upfront with them and see what their thoughts on it are and what they can afford. I am paying for my BM and GM attire but leaving it up to them if they want their hair, make up etc professionally done though. When i told them i would be paying for their dresses they all told me I should save the money for something else like upgrading myself and FI first class, remember these people are your best friends, they love you and want you to have the best day possible. Maybe turn it around... if you were the BM and what would you think, that might help you decide. If you are paying for their flight and hotel though I think they should be paying for their own attire for sure. Hope this helps I think i started rambling on n on! lol. I was a BM at a regular (at hoem ) wedding and paid for my dress, shoes, hair, alterations, nails. EVERYTHING. I put my foot down on the makeup (should have also for the hair, I got a regualr looking BUN for 90$, something easily something I could have done myself ) ... throw in the engagement gift, wedding gift, the bachelorette party, bridal shower gift... I was not a happy BM. It gets really expensive. I am still pay off my credit card for this stuff... Oh and I did not get a thank you card yet, its been since July... Our budget is tight for out DW wedding, we have 2 BM and 2 GM, we plan on paying for the shirts for the men (also makes sure they match) and the alterations for the girls dresses. -

You should read the review on MSN.com , it pretty accurate. Calia, I agree that the glowing effect in the sun was crap, it looked like he was either A) really sweaty or had lots of blond baby hairs.... Also agree about the house, it was supposed to be more like and old victorian, but the house they had was GORGEOUS! I also did not like those wings behind his head in the biology lab glass, the first time they sit next to each other... Also, the big sceen at the baseball field with James and the other VAmps, WHAT WAS THAT just a HISS and we are supposed to be scared? My big furry cat has a few missing teeth and he hisses better than that... The chatter all over the theater after was lke ''it was ok, not great'' even heard 'BAD'' a few times.... It felt like the production company was in a hurry to get it out, because of the hype and didn't take the time to have it screened and critiqued. Oh.. and what was up with JASPER He had like 2 lines AND he looked permantly grumpy and shell shocked (really reminded me of Jonny Depp in Edward Scissor hands, minus the creppy hands of course). Over all, ok movie, it will make loads of $$$ because of the fan base, but they will have to really kick it in gear for the sequel. -
I hear ya ladies!! I am starting my DIY projects in January, except for my invites. I am doing boarding passes and I am such a perfectionist, I change something on them everyday. And since I have to have ne version in French, one in English, I want to start printing over Xmas, even though I plan on sending them out in February... My list of stuff to do is growing, but I feel like I have too much time, that is why I am procrastinating on everything else. I have to get the BM dresses soon... :-S

WOW you had a beautful wedding!! congratulations!! -
Hey ladies, I was told by a few people to be very carefule with credit cards. If they are issued by an american bank, Bank of america, MBNA, American express, they will NOT be accepted. This I have seen on a few websites. I also heard that Mastercard is an american corporation, and is not accepted, I have seen anything to back up this claim. However travellers cheques are not accepted as they are drawn on american express. Hope this helps!

I am almost done the design phase o f our boarding pass invitations (not STD) . So I am beginning the planning phase, the paper has been ordered, scissors purchased, and I bought a perforating tool. It is one of those hand rotary wheels that is supposed to trace patterns on fabric, so I thought it might work on 110lb cardstock. WRONG! Good thing I only paid $1.50 for it at Fabricland! Our invites almost look like most (with the bar code) except I would have to fix up the cutting template because as of now it is a bit different. So my question is, should I bother to perforate the invites?? We are not having a detachable RSVP postcard, since we figure that most will not return them. Do most of your guests rip them or not? Since there is no RSVP, I am having a hard time justifying the extra expense this perforator-cutting tool would cost. Side note; anyone know why a bar code would be printing funny (it comes out looking staggered) Your opinions & help are welcome and appreciated!

Failed blood tests, Panama wedding
Virg replied to Rob&Sue's topic in Central & South America Weddings
I highly doubt they can detect HIV that fast! Don't you have to wait 4 weeks for your results in the USA and Canada? I am pretty sure it is just syphillis -

old age: sitting on the porch, holding hands with my FI

I am glad to see so many people are patiently waiting in line to vote. Here in Canada, we had the worse voter turn out ever, and most ppl I know would never wait more than 20 mins to vote. Its sad. Our generation has very little sense of civic responsibility. I made my FI vote for the first time, and he is 31. His mom never encouraged him to do it, she voted for the first time at 40 years of age. It makes me sad.
