  1. I just heard back from my mom and she feels so bad for my Aunt because it sounds like she is having a hard time affording the trip now. So, my is just going to go with it and share a room. Who knows, maybe it will end up being a good thing.

  3. My Aunt just asked my mother if she can share a room with her at the resort to cut costs. My mother really doesn't want to, but being the kind person she is, doesn't know how to say no. Does anyone have any advice I can give my mom on how she can politely refuse without risking my Aunt taking it the wrong way?
  4. Hooray! I'm so excited for you! I wish you all the best and I can't wait to see your pics when you return.
  5. correction...I meant to write "FMIL" not MILF!!! lol!!
  6. I love this thread because I can so relate to it! It took me the longest time to convince my MILF that I was not going to get re-married when I returned! Her exact words were "well, it's not like the wedding in Jamaica really counts as a wedding." She expected us to have a full blown ceremony when we returned with a flower girl, ring bearer, etc. She still expects us to have a big AHR when we return that is catered. I don't think there is any getting out of the AHR, but I put my foot down when it came to not having another ceremony (and that is a day I wish to forget!). I told FI though that if she wants an AHR so much then she can pay for it. I figured we'd have a little backyard BBQ or something but apparently that's selfish of us. I'm a freakin' poor student....I'm the one that's selfish!? I don't get her train of thought at all. I'm always negotiating with her on how my wedding is going to be! It's ridiculous! Ok...there is my rant for the day! lol!
  7. What a cute engagement story! Welcome to the forum!
  8. Welcome to the forum! You will find it very addicting!

Then we corked the bottles and then dipped the bottles into the wax. The wax held the string in place. When you dip them into the wax, hold the rope down against the bottle and leave it in the wax for about five seconds.
  10. Hooray! A fellow SATP bride!!! I am getting married at SATP May 7, '08. It's such a beautiful resort, I can't wait! Have you viewed the resort video on their website? That's what made the final decision for me!
  11. LOL! That was great! What a blast your wedding must have been! I hope so much that my guests get their groove on like yours did!
  12. I love the Dr. Seuss quote! I am going to have to find a way to use it! I love your address labels too and how they coordinate so well with the invite.

Can you tell me how the wax seal works? I saw the wax sticks at hobby lobby tonight but there weren't any directions. TIP: Instead of buying the wax sticks, check out a craft store that has kits for making your own candles. We ended up getting a huge block of wax for almost the same price as a little package of wax sticks. Using crayons would also be an option I guess...it just may be hard to find enough crayons all the same color! We just melted the wax in a pot over the stove and then took each bottle, turned it upside down and dipped it into the wax. We had to do 2 coats on each one. Be prepared to ruin one of your pots! We actually spray painted the pot when we were done, added some wicks and turned it into a giant scented candle!
  15. So, I actually finished my invites a long time ago, and even sent them out already, but I figured I'd show them off anyway! These are three leftovers that I have (so not the best of the bunch). They were a DIY project. FI even sandblasted the hearts on all of them! We stamped a "C" into the wax on top of the bottles which you can't see in the pics. We sent them in boxes - when you opened the box there was a message directing the guests to "pull the rope for your message in a bottle" along with our website info. When the guests pulled the rope, it broke the wax seal and the cork popped out with the message attached. We hand delivered most of them and it was so much fun to watch them open them up! Some people even kept them and used them as decorations in their bathrooms! Lots of work, but also lots of fun!
  16. Great suggestions! I am giving each guest a beach towel ($4 from textileshop), because I know last time I went on vacation I only brought one and wished i had brought another (one to lie on and one to dry with). Plus it takes up lots of space in the bag so it doesn't look empty! Still haven't finalized what else is going in the bag. Can someone reccommend a good place to buy the insulated mugs?
  17. I want to attach, or paste a picture to a thread, but it wont let me. I cut the image down so that it would be the right width and height, but now it says that the file exceeds the allowed size (as in KB). So how do I make my file smaller? I'm technically challenged!
  18. How do I PM you?? Sorry, I'm obviously new!
  19. Thanks everyone! I'm so excited I joined. I have already found so many great ideas! You ladies rock! I hope I am able to contribute some worthwhile ideas too!
  20. Congratulations! I absolutely LOVE all of your flower arrangements. I think I'm going to bring a picture of them to my wedding coordinator when I go down!
