I just got back from my Riviera Maya wedding and a one week honeymoon in Belize....AMAZING!!!! Despite all the negativity surrounding the wedding with the swine flu, my wedding was absolutely perfect!!! I will write a review and share more pics as soon as possible, but, here are just a few taken by friends and family.....

Beth, I was thinking about you as I was going through the same exact thing.... We had to make some unplanned adjustments as well since we had 25 guests cancel. I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you and your pictures are beautiful...you look gorgeous!

Hi Ladies! I just wanted to say hello and I'm back from the most incredible time of my life!!! I still cannot believe the whole swine flu issue and I'm wondering how it has affected everyone else, but aside from that, my wedding was absolutely amazing!!!!! Hi ladies! I just wanted to say good luck to all those with weddings in the next few weeks! I leave tomorrow morning! Yes...still going despite the crazy flu! My friend called me today in a panic, which really annoyed me...who calls the bride the day before she leaves for her wedding in a panic? I'm hoping for the best with this flu thing and hope that everyone makes it safely. I feel like I have no other choice at this point, but, to move forward. Also, my very best friend from high school and bridesmaid called to tell me she probably won't make it now because her dad is seriously ill with pancreatic cancer....i feel so terrible...it's so hard to be happy when she is hurting so much. On a happier note, we got legally married tonight! Yay! Anyway, I plan on posting my planning thread and of course, wedding pics when I return!

I had no idea that you're supposed to bring receipts! Is that true? All of our stuff is packed up in boxes and I doubt I have all the receipts for everything. We are putting a label in the box listing all the items in each box + our names, our resort information (address, phone # etc) and we'll make it very clear that these are wedding favors. I don't want to have too many questions in customs. I hope that's sufficient. I can't believe we leave on Monday! Everything was cool until yesterday...FI didn't order photobook in time and now it won't come until after we leave! We have to have it delivered to a friend, who's coming on Thursday (hopefully it will arrive before Wed.). But, FI feels bad and wants to make a photoalbum as a back up...one more project! I have SO much more to do now....shopping, getting hair done, nails, wax, facial,pack, GET MARRIED LEGALLY, download music, make cds, print table #'s, and "try to enjoy this time"...yeah right!

We FINALLY agreed on a song! We're going to dance to "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton.

I just downloaded a bunch of their songs last week...we'll be playing them at part of the cocktail hour....GREAT songs!!!

Ladies, Thanks to all your responses/reasonings I've had a lot to think about...but, it really wasn't difficult...I totally agree that he SHOULD do what he wants...Our relationship has never been based on control...in fact that's what I love about it! My FI asked me simply out of respect for me. But, if he had just told me he was going, I would have been fine too! Sometimes, I think all of this wedding decision making gets to me...I start overthinking everything! I hadn't thought about the "getting drunk or sunburnt" part of the whole thing, which certainly could happen and now I think that's a bigger concern. But, anyway, he's responsible and I totally trust that he won't compromise our wedding day. Regarding the other guests...my initial concern was that if he went fishing for 4-5 hours the day after they arrived (the day before our wedding), then, they'd be like "we traveled all the way to Mexico for him and then he takes off with his buddies". But, honestly, I don't think that's a big deal anymore..I think you're right...it's his vacation, so, he should do whatever makes him happy...plus, he would have plenty of other time to spend with them....AGAIN, just me overthinking things... Boy, I can't wait for this whole thing to be over! (well, not really!)

Hey Ladies! Thanks so much for all of your responses! I have mixed feelings about it all- I definitely want him to enjoy the day (without me). I told him already, that if he hadn't asked me, I wouldn't have even known that he was gone since I'll be busy hanging with the girls and getting ready. But, now, I'm sure I'll worry that something might go wrong (I'm a worrier)....they'll be fishing on a boat--little risky on the wedding day (IMO). I think it would ease my mind if he went a different day or just did something like snorkeling at the resort. I guess he doesn't need to be there all day on the day before the wedding, but, I thought OTHER people might be wondering why he's not around...you know what I mean? But, I guess it doesn't matter....so, I suggested that he go the day before instead...now, he's just pissed about the whole thing...I told him he shouldn't have even asked me my opininon then...just do what you want...right now, I have no time to play these games! (Sorry, just venting a bit)

My FI asked me yesterday if it would be ok for him and a few guys to go on a fishing trip on our wedding day (8am-1pm). Our wedding doesn't start until 5pm. I told him that I didn't think it was a good idea because it'll be just one more thing that I'll worry about (someone getting hurt, being late etc.) They were also considering going the day before the wedding, but, I thought that might be rude to leave the resort for 5 hours the morning after 80 people came to be with him for his wedding. Am I crazy to think this?

Thanks for the tips! I was just wondering if you got your dress steamed there BEFORE the wedding? I need mine steamed and I would rather not do it here before I leave, but, I'm concerned about having it done at the resort.

I'll be using extensions for my wedding. My hairdresser recommended the one's by Jessica Simpson. I love them and they blend so well with my hair and they're easy to take out! I don't know if they're real or synthetic...

I'm also searching for our intro song...."Crazy in Love" is a great idea! I wanted "Its a beautiful day" by U2, but, fiance doesn't like it.

Ok, that makes me feel a little better. My dress has a lot of beading and I'm worried that it might get ruined that's all. I'm meeting with the cleaning/pressing place in an hour to see what they recommend. But, I'm happy to hear you had no problems. Do you mind me asking how much they charged you for that service?

We're having a "sweetheart table" for bride & groom. Then, we're having 10 other tables of mixed....bridal party not all at the same table. We grouped everyone with people they know.

This question is for PAST EDR Brides.... Did you have your dress steamed/pressed at the resort? If so, were you happy with the result? I can't decide what to do...I'm really nervous about having the resort do it. But, I think that if I get it done at home and then travel with it..it might get wrinkled. Any thoughts?

The salon where I purchased my dress refused to let me get my dress pressed there since I did my alterations off site (I"m so annoyed with this salon right now). NOw, I have to find somewhere else to go and I'm so nervous about leaving my dress with someone that I don't know/trust. Also, I've heard that you shouldn't have the resort do it either because that's a huge risk. I was told the best thing to do is get it pressed at home and then have it packed safely for travel. What have other people done?

I need to get my dressed pressed and also packed for travel on the plane because I don't want to depend on the resort to press my dress. I'm just wondering for those who did this, how much did you spend? I've been quoted $40-250. Thanks!
