  1. Well that kinds stinks... So I can't give them a choice of chicken or beef huh? Do you know if any of the other more expensive packages will let me have options? I'd normally just go with chicken (who doesn't like chicken, right?) but i have a few vegetarian guests. Help, what do I do?

The worst is commercials.... I just start crying and my FI thinks I'm crazy! Yesterday, I started crying when I saw my invitation proofs!

  4. Okay, this is probably obvious to some but I'm confused. We are going with the Silver menu package and on our contract it says for the plated dinners choose: 1 salad, 1 soup, 1 entree, 1 dessert. And then I have a separate list with the menu. Soo... the menu lists 3 entree choices for dinner. I guess my question is, do my guests each choose 1 of the 3 or do I pick one of the 3 and everyone eats the same thing? Wow, I think I've confused myself. Am I making sense? I want to get my Invites out and was thinking about putting entree choices on it if thats a possibility. Maybe I should just go with the buffet!
  5. My mom actually used this for her wedding last year. She is not very internet savvy so I did all of it for her. Here are my thoughts and what other people thought: + It's very easy to set up. I'm not very creative and I was even able to make it look cute. + It's simple to track who gave what and when. - Although there is no fee to set it up, I had everyone send $ though paypal and they do charge a fee. It's not a lot , just a % of what they give, but still. - It's pretty much the same as people giving you cash... like you can fill out 'to be used for a candlelight dinner' but then the money is just given in a lump sum to you. Some people asked me 'well how do i know if they really used it on drinks by the pool' or whatever. Basically it's just a creative way to get cash! Hope this helped a bit. Let me know if you have any other ?s.
  6. Oh my gosh, I just teared up! That's such a great story! Congrats!
  7. As a backup, you could burn your songs onto CD's and bring them with. It's a pain but that way your prepared for the worst.
  8. I bet you are SO happy to get back to the gorgeous Chicago weather we're having (sarcasm)! I can't wait to hear all about your wedding and see pictures! So glad that you had a great time!
  9. Okay ladies, I'm back from my appointment! I did my armpits and got a Brazillian. I must say that was a very humbling experience... good thing i'm not shy! So here is my first-timer review: Go to a place that is highly reputable. You do not want to go to a cheapy place for this. I found a lady who has been doing this for 26 years and I must say that experience must make a difference. The pain was not nearly as bad as I thought. There were a few times that I thought I may shriek, but the pain goes away before I had time to think about it. Again, I think that if I went to someone else with less experience, it would have been a LOT worse. Overall I would definitely do it again. I gave my FI a peak and he definitely liked it... too bad I'm a bit sore right now!
  10. Thanks ladies for all the support... I still haven't touched a cigarette... however, I am guilty of inhaling my workmate's clothing after they've come in from a smoke break. This is one of the toughest things I've had to do and it really helps to have all of your support! Hugs to all!!
  11. Okay, i made an appointment for tomorrow. I am going to do a Brazilian wax and my armpits. I am scared.

The flip flops were 2 for $5 at Old Navy so for probably less than $10 a pair everyone has their own unique shoes to wear! i can't find floppyjoes.com. Can you send me that link? Did you already make your DIY ones? Can you post them?
  14. Woo Hoo!! Go babies... not for me of course, but I'll live vicariously through this forum!
  15. Wow, thats awesome! I can't let my FI see this thread!! Can you explain the decorating of the flip flops to me? That sounds like a really cute original idea and would be a fun girls night. Please share!!
  16. Okay, I'm dumb. What is a pashmina and why do I need them?
  17. Don't worry brides, Daniella has been much better about returning my emails now that we are within 6 months... wait, 5 months?! oh geez!! Anyway, she's at about 24 hour turnaround or less!
  18. I say that we rent a big boat and stick our FMIL's all on it until 2010. Who's in?
  19. I know that everyone has gripes with their new mother in laws, but I'm beginning to think that we may actually have to disown my FI's mom. She is driving both of us crazy! And my poor FI is getting so upset on a daily basis because of her outrageous statements and actions. So, we are getting married in Cancun in August. Of course, she is against this from the get go. Here is a small list of her inappropriate behavior. 1. Right after we got engaged, she asked where we were getting married (we live in Chicago and they all live in DC). I told her that we were considering a destination wedding in Mexico or Vegas. She looked at me like I was nuts and said 'NO'. Thats it. Nothing more. Just no. I was like, okay thats not a good sign. 2. We FINALLY set our date and signed our contract at Dreams and were pretty excited. My FI called her to let her know the plans and instead of saying congrats and being happy, she immediately began listing all the people in the family that wouldn't be able to come... (a lot of these people we had already talked to and they told us they were coming so it was just a mean spirited bunch of lies she told) 3. It's too much money 4. It's too hot 5. There's nothing for grandparents to do 6. So and so can't get off of work/school 7. You're grandparents aren't coming 8. Tonight she called to say that it would be too hot to wear a suit in Cancun. My FI told her that it was a casual wedding and that not even the groomsmen were wearing suits, she freaked out! What?! No suits!? It's the end of the world!! AAAAHHHHHHH....... I just want to smack her a few times!! We are seriously considering going and eloping. Sucks that it comes down to that but it's getting old really fast. And yes, my FI attempted to talk to her and even wrote her a 3 page letter explaining that she was really upsetting us with all these negative phone calls and statements but it didn't help at all. Thanks for letting me vent guys!!
  20. Wow, that sounds so romantic!! Congrats on your engagement and best of luck with your planning!
