  1. ... I just worked at the Westin a few months ago... the beach is in fantastic shape...
  2. ... check out the Westin for sure. The really neat (at least to me) thing about the Westin is it's location. It's at the far southern tip of the strip... far away from all the other big "party" hotels. The beach there is huge and flat. the scene there is very mellow... nothing like the Spring break atmosphere of the hotels further up the beach...
  3. ... another great spot for a rehearsal dinner is Sancho Panza. It's a Cuban wine bar and restaurant. Awesome!
  4. ... Congrats... whatever you decide to do... not a good idea to hire a friend or family member...
  5. ... I shoot "the moment" a couple hours before the actual wedding at 99% of my weddings. 100% of these couples say it was the best thing they ever could have done! there are only advantages to doing this... go to A Garry Helland Photograph Hit "the moment" link to see examples
  6. ... Congrats... Panchos is fun. I did'nt know there were so many different Taquilas!!! Check out Mi Casa however. Even better!! I've shot a hundred rehersal dinners there... they LOVE to do them and really make it easy for the bride/groom...
  7. ... Congrats... Cabo Del Sol is fantastic for weddings. Contact me directly and I'll get tons of photos from there... You will LOVE THE SHERATON!! Stay in one of the bungalow rooms; buildings 28, 29, 30, 31... don't stay in the main tower. Also... Cabo Azul is INCREDABLE!!
  8. Hello again... If you're still there make sure to see Gallows Point on St. John...
  9. ... Desires has been in Business for a couple years now... basically they tore down the old Fiesta Inn and built Desires... whatever! A wedding there might be interesting. You'll be surrounded by alot of naked (not all of them attractive) people...
  10. ... another great wedding spot on St John is Gallows Point (google it).
  11. Contact Stacy at USVI Wedding. Her number is 340-693-7362.
  12. Hey there... sounds like you guys finally decided against Cabo... Half Moon? I 'm doing a wedding there May 25th... I'll let you know how it goes... Gary
  13. ... you would have loved (Baja Weddings) Coleen and John. You do get (surprize) what you pay for... Memories happen once...
  14. ... good choices... Once you've gone to Fiesta Americana, drive a couple hundred yards and check out the Sheraton (they do better weddings...) and the Cabo Real Golf Club... both are way better for weddings... they won't throw so many "road blocks" at you...
  15. ... another great referral for the ceremony is Sergio Morales. He is the exclusive wedding planner at Cabo Azul. He is fully legal in doing the ceremony... I have done over 200 weddings with him... Amazing! Ask him about the "ceremony of the roses". There won't be a dry eye in the house. Contact me directly if you want his personal, direct number.
  16. you won't hear about it until your photographer is stopped at the gates...
  17. ... This last comment is exactly what I've been saying on other posts... mainly that even though all the Cabo hotels want to CASH IN on gringo weddings, in NO WAY does it mean that they really WANT to do them, or that they actually KNOW what they're doing... one hotel in particular... over on the Pacific side is a nightmare... True story... at my LAST wedding at this one hotel, the ENTIRE wait staff was taken away so that only BUS BOYS were left to work the wedding reception. It seems the owner of the hotel was having A PRIVATE PARTY for his rich friends at his beach side mansion next door. He pulled the ENTIRE service staff to do his party, leaving my bride and groom with truly lousy service. Before they checked out the next day my clients read the riot act to the hotel management and WP.
  18. Hello again you guys... Call me. I'm aware of the situation at Cabo Azul. Gary 602-369-3904
  19. Hey Bradley... Thank you for posting this. I'm not surprized at all. More and more, people want a piece of the wedding action. This is not going in a good direction. I've been shooting in Cabo for ten years. I'm surprized it took this long to start extorting money from vendors. BTW... the Riu is not on my list of "best Cabo resorts" for weddings. They do them OK, but thats about it!! No great loss if you go somewhere else!
  20. Do contact me about other resorts. I've been to virtually all of them. Some do weddings really well... others just think they do. There are a couple major resorts I would run away from...
  21. Esperanza is one of the top three Hotels in Cabo; service, quality, etc. It's also very private (like Palmilla)... you never know who you'll see there... They do weddings well...
  22. .... When Sergio shows you the chapel make sure to ask him about Gary's "group shot"...
  23. ... No, the Cabo Azul is not "all inclusive".
  24. Hello Kcantrell... As I've said... the resort is beautiful. The beach there is HUGE AND FLAT... HOWEVER... IF MOST OF YOUR TIME IS GOING TO BE SPENT IN THE OCEAN (THE GULF OF MEXICO...) YOU MAY BE DISAPPOINTED. i WOULD SUGGEST THE SWIM UP BAR AT THE AMAZING POOL!!
  25. Welcome to the forum. If you want to work in Mexico make sure to secure an FM3 Visa. Not having one is not a good idea. You won't want immigration showing up at one of your weddings the way they did one of mine...
