  1. Lisa- Congrats on finishing the race. That really is awesome. I would have given up 1/4 of the way through! As for me, I went to the Doc today. NOTHING is going on down there. It is still closed. I'm starting to get depressed. :-( I don't want her out today or anything, but it would be nice to see a little progress.
  2. Congrats, Erica! You looked amazing! Can't wait to see more pics!
  3. Oh no, How scary. You did the right thing by going in. Hannah has her off days where she doesn't want to move much too, my doctor just said they are running out of room in there and it's getting more difficult for them to move. And Yep, those "warm up" contractions are BH. A lot of women can't feel them. I'm glad Noah is ok!
  4. Sorry you're feeling so bad Lisa. I know what you mean about heartburn though. It's horrible for me. I take pepcid too and it helps. As for the cramps, they could have been contractions or your body reacting to all the walking. I had horrible cramps the other night too, I'm pretty sure they were contractions. Maybe our bodies are actually making some progress! I hope you get some rest tonight.
  5. I think it's super cute. I would love to get a homemade quilt as a baby gift! It is so sweet and so much more personal. She and her baby boy will love it!
  6. I used depo after my son was born 6 years ago and I hated it ( a lot of spotting) so I never got another shot. I had a few funny periods after I got off, but it all straightened out. I do know people though who have had a more difficult time trying to conceive after the shot, so I would not get another shot if I were you. Let you body rest. Good luck with your decision.

  8. Oh Calia, I'm so sorry. I hope that you get some answers soon as to whats going on. (((Hugs)))
  9. Martha- Wow, really your doctor sounds like a piece of work. I'm frustrated for you. Seriously, you are 37 weeks, what if you have questions about delivery? I'm so sorry, but seriously dump this guy after Noah's born and don't look back! And about the GBS, my doc said that the pediatrician likes to monitor babies born to GBS+ moms for symptoms for 48 hours before they discharge them. So it's really more for Hannah than it is me. And I understand what you mean about God working in mysterious ways. I think you have a good plan. Try not to stress too much about it. I'm sure it will all be ok.

I looked at a few photogs and they had around a $250-300 sitting fee then an additional $500 minimum print purchase. The print minimum is kind of ridiculous to me. Then you don't even own the rights to the pictures. I found a lady who is kind of new and doesn't charge that much, and still takes good pics, so I might go that route.
  11. Martha- OMG, you poor thing. I can't beileve that you can get mastitis before you even have your baby. I hope it starts feeling better soon. Mo- I'm so glad that you are doing better! Lizz- I'm so glad that mike hasn't slipped up yet. We tried keeping Hannah's gender a secret before the wedding and both Steve and I slipped up to our family members before the wedding. Lisa- How exciting that you guys got a new camera. I have been wanting a SLR for so long now. I was thinking about a Nikon as well. I think its a great investment considering how expensive photogs are around here. I've been pricing some and WOW.. it would cost around 700-800 for a good one including the prints. As for me, I had an interesting doctor appointment today. I found out how much Hannah weighs. She is a whopping 5 pounds! LOL. She is a small fry! The doc says she should be around 6 1/2 - 7 pounds when she is born. I got checked again today and NOTHING is going on down there. My cervix is still closed. I'm kind of glad now though, since I know how small she is. Also, I found out that I am GBS+, I was with my first so I had a feeling I would be again. So it looks like I will be in the hospital for at least 48 hours after birth. Which sucks because it's an additional $525 that we have to pay out of our pockets. That was about it.
  12. Hi Girls. I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I'm doing good except for the fact that I am finally starting to feel seriously uncomfortable. My lower back started killing me this weekend. Hopefully the next couple of weeks goes by quickly! Martha- I just wanted to tell you Congrats on hitting the 37 week mark! You are officially at term now! That is so exciting. Noah's going to be here so soon!
  13. It sounds like he missed you last night, Amy. I think that is great for a first night, though. He will get use to the crib and start sleeping through the whole night. Keep it up, and let us know how he does this week.

I decided to put him in his crib because he's getting too big for the co-sleeper, and I'm sure he'll be rolling over soon (I've actually hoped for him NOT to roll over yet, to keep him in the co-sleeper this long!). We have the monitor all set up, attached to the TV (LOVE it! I can even see him breathing!). We also put a 2x4 under the head part of his mattress, which my mother-in-law insisted we do- she even brought it over (she did it with her kids- she's a nurse and said she doesn't know of any cases of SIDS in a car seat- where they are reclined- don't tell me if you know of any!). The ceiling fan is going and so is the little Homedics thing that shines animals on the ceiling. Anyway, wish me luck that I won't wake up on the floor next to his crib! Amy Ahhh Amy, I know Austin is going to do great tonight. I know how you feel completely though. I joked with Steve the other day that Hannah will be in our room until she's 3! Good Luck!

He also said my cervix was still closed and he felt a little hand when he was in there. o.k., so that's a little freaky girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He felt his hand with his fingers. WTF!?!? What happens when we have sex. A peepee is bigger than a finger!! OMG, I'm laughing so hard right now. That is kind of creepy though, now that you put it that way. Good to know your appointment went well other wise! Do you go back next week or in two weeks now?

I was thrown off by the talk about inducing and even more thrown off because it's my ex's birthday. ha! Anyhow, after he told me about the induction, he walked out....it was then that I realized I needed to ask about the GBS test. So, I HAVE to ask next week FOR SURE! Lisa, I hope your appt goes well! The fair sounds fun, but how are you gonna do the Walk for the Cure? I would have to stop all the time to go potty! Karma, looks like you will be the next Mommy since Noah is too comfy in here! Yay! Wow, I really hope Noah comes before the 5th or he's not born until the 6th because I would HATE for my baby to share a birthday with an EX. I'm sure Jay would hate it too, I know Steve would. LOL. Isn't it funny though, a few weeks ago we were thinking we would be early and now it's starting to look like our little ones are going to stay put. I told Steve at lunch today that we need to start having sex more so I can get things moving in there. He said he was happy to help.

Also, if you can bring a fold out chair it will be a life saver. We brought one and every time we stopped somewhere I would pull out the chair and rest. It made so much of a difference! My waist is thicker and I have a small bump, but that's about it. When did you girls all "pop" I'm starting to get worried, especially because I only feel the baby every so often at night when I lay down; I'm really hoping that nothing is wrong with the baby. Ahh, Lizz don't worry about that at all. Some people just carry their babies differently. I'm carrying pretty high so most people don't beileve I'm 35 weeks when I tell them. With my first I looked 4 months preggo at 9 months. I also didn't start feeling Hannah regularly until about 22-23 weeks. So don't worry at all. I'm sure your little one is nice and healthy!!
  18. Hi Girls, I hope everyone is doing good and feeling well! Martha- I am anxious to see how your appointment went today. Let us know when you get back. As for me, I had my 35 week appointment today. Nothing special, just had my GBS test and my doc checked me out while she was down there. My cervix is closed up tight! I know it's a good thing, since I don't have to worry about Hannah coming too early, but I've been in a lot of discomfort lately with BH and it kind of sucks to know that they are not doing anything to help the process along. I'm looking forward to my appointment next week though because I finally get my growth ultrasound to see how big she is!!
  19. Wow, Lisa. It is so nice. You did an amazing job!
  20. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I will be keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Ok, looks like we were thinking the same thing. :-) Try not to stress about it Martha, I'm sorry if I'm causing you extra stress by telling you about my friend, I feel bad now. The chances really are slim that Noah can get sick. But I would hate to take any chances even if they are slim, KWIM. I bet he will re-test you if you let him know it really bothers you and how uncomfortable you are. Big hug for you...

I told her that everything I read says 35-37 weeks and she says 26 is fine. Ummm. NOT what I wanted to hear. I am still going to ask him about it on Tuesday, but WTH? Are you serious? He prefers? Wow. Read this.... Quote: Take extra precautions! GBS cultures can occasionally show a “false negative†test result or your status may change by the time you go into labor. Call your hospital to see if they have the new FDA-approved test, IDI-Strep B™. This rapid test has been approved to determine GBS status during labor, or at any other time during pregnancy, in less than one hour. It is currently the most reliable method to detect GBS just prior to delivery.1 Maybe you can just go over his head at the hospital. I'd call your hospital and speak with the labor and delivery team and explain to them your concerns and see if they have this test. It's worth a shot.
  23. Lizz- Thanks for the prayers and thoughts. Martha- It completely blows my mind too, why he would do it so early. The only thing I could even think of is that he does the test twice and will do it again in the few weeks. Defiantly let us know what he says next week. About the BH, I don't remember having them at all with my first and I still had cervical changes pretty early. So I would count yourself as one of the lucky ones! :-) Lisa- Your belly is so cute! I love the progression pics. It really shows how far you have come. I agree with Lizz it does look like you have dropped.
  24. Thanks for the kind thoughts for my friends baby girls. It is pretty scary though and until it happened to her wasn't anything that I had even thought about. Now I'm completely freaked out about it. I just looked it up and found this Group B Strep Infection (GBS) : American Pregnancy Association Quote: This screening is performed between the 35th and 37th week of pregnancy (anytime other than this time will not be significant to show if a woman is carrying GBS during the time of her delivery). Lisa- I know what you mean about the aches and pains and the pressure. It is starting to get bad for me. I wake up a few times in the middle of the night moaning too. The BH are starting to get strong and sometimes a tad bit painful, especially if I have to pee. I've been having them since 20 weeks so I'm pretty much ready to be done with them! I would have smacked Steve if he said that, kidding or not! LOL.

When I told her I had it done, she was shocked...I thought it was kinda early too because I could always develop the yeast or whatever before I deliver! Are we talking about the same thing? If so, what should I tell him? I mean he is a doctor....how do I ask him to do it again w/o insulting him Yes, GBS is Group B strep. Wow, that is crazy that you had it so early. You are totally right, a test that early is absolutely unreliable. That is actually what happened to my friend, she had hers two weeks early at 33 weeks and it came back negative. Well, needless to say that was not true and she really was positive at the time of her delivery. Now, her baby is in the NICU fighting for her life and if she lives will have permanent brain damage and most likely be mentally retarded. And it all could have been avoided with some simple antibiotics. It is so sad. If I were you I would just mention that you would like to be tested again if he says he was not going to do it again, because you know someone who tested too early and got a negative but their baby still got sick. I would laugh it off and say something like "better safe than sorry right". Honestly the chances are very slim of a baby getting GBS syndrome, but after it just happened to my friend, I would definitely not take any chances.
