  1. I just wanted to come and check on Lizz! I noticed in the ticker she had her baby! Congrats Lizz! Now I need to find the thread to find out if it was a boy or girl! Yari- Yay, I just noticed your are preggers! Congrats to you, also! And Congrats to all the girls in this thread! I can't wait to be where you are again. LOL. Yep, we are crazy but we are going to start TTC again in probably 2 months. Steve's turning 50 this year so we don't have much time to waste! :-)
  2. Congrats, Mo! He is adorable!

  4. Hey girls, I just wanted to stop by and check on you all. Congrats to all the newly preggo! Sorry I don't get on as much lately. The holidays were very busy for us! Mo- I'm so excited for you. My doctor actually did an ultrasound at 36 weeks to check Hannah's size. But it was SO off! She was about 1 1/2 lbs more than predicted. So you might get another look! Bisha- Good luck at your scan on Friday. I hope your little one co-operates! Angel- The ultrasound pics are so cute! You will be so happy to have those early ones once your little one gets here. And yes, 13 weeks seems awfully early for a gender determination. My doctor wouldn't even check until 16 weeks. But she was correct then. Well, as for me and Hannah. She is growing like a weed. She is 2 months old today. She's a fussy baby and very demanding. But it's worth it. Our baby carrier has been a lifesaver! I'm hoping this will be her last fussy month! The crazy thing is I still want another baby, even with her fussiness! I think I have convinced Steve, too. So we are thinking about trying again in the summer. Crazy, early I know. But Steve is no spring chicken! LOL. So we want to have our next ASAP so Steve isn't 70 raising kids. :-) I'll keep checking in on everyone. I can't wait to start seeing these beautiful babies!
  5. Hi girls! Sorry I have been MIA, but I'm sure you can understand. Hannah keeps my hands full just about 23 hours out of every day, LITERALLY! LOL. She will not sleep in her bassinet, and basically always has to be held. She is a handful, but is so darn cute, I don't mind! Congrats, to all the newly pregnant. I complained throughout most of my pregnancy, but now I miss it SO much! I think once the economy rebounds a little, I will start begging Steve to try for just one more! :-) Mo- I'm so excited for you... It looks like you are next. Those last weeks were the toughest for me too, but it will go by fast. I will be watching for your post that little TJ is here! Lizz- You are getting so close too! I'm so excited to find out if you're having a girl or a boy! I know you must be going crazy! I wanted to let you know that I ended up getting a Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bag too, and you are going to LOVE it! After you mentioned yours I looked them up and fell in love! Thanks for sharing!
  6. We have one. We have wood floors that are almost impossible to keep clean. If I could do it again, I would not have spent the money on it. It works but is not a must have for us, and it is super annoying if it goes off when you are home.
  7. Wow, they came out so beautiful! Sarah you look so adorable!! Great Job, Tammy!
  8. Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!!

Do you plan on finding out ahead of time? Quote: Originally Posted by Jacqueline karma i must have missed the thread that you had your baby, im assuming there wa sone! 10. Yay, Lisa! I am so happy for you! Congratulations Lisa and James! Luke is adorable!
  11. Lisa- I just wanted to tell you good luck on Monday! We will all be thinking about you and Luke!
  12. I did a trial the night before I got married and I'm glad that I did for peace of mind on my wedding day. I was able to tell her the things I did not like about what she did the first time and she was able to fix it perfectly for my wedding. I did not do a trial for my make up and somewhat regretted it the day of my wedding. So I say defiantly do a trial if you have time and you can afford it. FYI...The trials are usually a little cheaper than the actual styling charges.
  13. For some reason, I really liked this season. The girls are really horrible representations of well off or classy "African American" women, but oh well. It makes for great entertainment! I'm pretty excited for the reunion next week.
  14. Yikes! I want to get the girls done next year, but after stories like this, it makes me think my girls are just fine the way they are!!!
  15. Thanks Girls! It was hard to get the shots. She wanted to eat the whole time! :-)
  16. Angel and Kelly: Congrats to you both! How are you girls feeling? Lisa: You poor thing. I didn't even know you could damage your ribs from coughing. I hope Luke isn't make things worse and kicking them! I'll pray for a speedy recovery before this weekend! I'm assuming if your not dilated your doc will try Cervidil first on Sunday night. I've heard good things about it. Some women don't even need pitocin after it. So fingers crossed for you. I'm so excited that little Luke will be here in a few days!!

  18. Great! Thanks girls! I am in desperate need of some new non maternity clothes.
  19. Welcome back and congrats! You really looked stunning!
  20. Lisa- That was exactly how I was feeling last week too. Just a few more days. I am really glad that your doctor didn't have you schedule a c-section and will let you try first. After Hannah came out a whole pound more than what we thought she was going to be, I really don't have much faith in estimates. I'm crossing my fingers that he is the perfect size for your pelvis! (Ok, that sounded kind of weird, but you know what I mean) LOL! Lizz- It sounds like you are gaining great! I gained around that amount too. The good news is that if you plan on breastfeeding the weight really does melt away quickly! Yay, for almost going to 2 week appointments. Once you start going every 2 weeks the time really flies by after that.
  21. Hi Girls! How is everyone feeling? I hope everyone is feeling well. Thanks again for all the well wishes the past week! Lisa- It's Tuesday so I'm guessing you have a Dr.'s appointment today! LOL...can you tell I'm excited for Luke to get here. How have you been feeling? Any contractions/cramps lately? Let us know what the Dr. says when you get back! As for me, I'm still doing pretty well. I slept in today so I feel better than I have been. Recovery has been pretty good. I have only been taking Motrin and I'm not taking much of it anymore. It's the sleep deprivation that is hard, but I think my body is adjusting and it's totally worth it! I do have to admit though, I miss being pregnant a little bit! Steve and I had said Hannah was going to be our last, but we have both mentioned in the past week the possibility of just one more. :-)
  22. Hi Everyone! Sorry it’s taken me a few days to post. I finally have a minute while Hannah is sleeping. I’ll try and make this as short as possible. Also, Thanks Lisa for letting everyone know little Hannah made it ok. (Maybe a mod can merge these two threads) Hannah Marie’s Birth Story We went in for a scheduled induction at 6:30 AM on Wednesday the 5th. We were pretty exhausted since it was a pretty exciting night the night before (election night). When I got there I was already 4 CM dilated and about 70% effaced. They immediately hooked me up to an IV to start getting fluids and the pitocin in me. The contractions became regular very quickly. They were pretty mild contractions and I was not in too much pain. I had already planned on getting an epidural so I talked to the nurse and she suggested that I shouldn’t wait to get it since I was already a 4 and the labor could go quickly. She assured me that it would not stall my labor. So I decided to go ahead and get the epi even though the contractions were bearable. After the epi, I could barely feel the contractions, just a slight pressure. About 2 hours went by and the nurse came to check me. I was still a 4! I started worrying and regretting getting the epi. About 30 minutes later I started getting pain in my right side only. My whole left side was still numb. I was scared that the epi was not going to work properly for the delivery so they sent the dr. back in to give me more pain meds since they thought Hannah wouldn’t be there until later that night. An hour later I was still feeling contractions on my right side. The nurse checked me and I had jumped to a 6 in that short time. The nurse sent the dr. back in again to up my dosage of epi medicine. About another hour later I was STILL feeling pain on my right side. At this point I was FREAKED that I was going to feel the actual birth (my biggest fear)! The nurse started getting suspicious and decided to check me. Sure enough I was at a good 8 and very soft! She said her head was very close. She started rushing around getting the room ready for Hannah’s arrival and I started getting worried because Steve had left to go and pick up my stepson from school. I called him and told him to HURRY! My doctor came in a few minutes after Steve got back and she said, WOW, Karma! You’re a full 10 and ready to push!! Everyone was shocked because I basically went from a 6 to a 10 in no time. Luckily, by this point I was completely numb but they thought that I wouldn’t be able to push too well since I had so much epi medicine in me at that point. Again they were wrong! The doctor said she was going to try a few practice pushes during my contractions. Well it turned out that those practice pushes were the real deal! After only 3 pushes Hannah came out. It literally took about 10 minutes of pushing! I tore slightly because Hannah had her hand by her head, but that was it. She was born at 2:55 that afternoon and she weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces. What is funny is that our wedding date was 7/7! She was 19 ½ inches. I think she looks like her Daddy and most people seem to agree. It was such a amazing feeling birthing my daughter. When they placed her on my stomach I immediately began crying tears of joy! It really was the biggest rush ever. So far she has been a pretty good baby. She LOVES attention though, and hates to be laid down. Breastfeeding has been tough and I’m seeing a lactation consultant, but the work is worth all the extra benefits I know she is getting. We are completely in love with her and couldn’t be more pleased with the way things worked out. That’s about it…. I know you guys are waiting for pics so here they are! She’s a little jaundiced so she is a little orange in some of them. Big Thanks to everyone for being there since the day I found out I was pregnant, especially all the girls in the Mommies to be thread! I couldn’t have made it through the last nine months without all of your support!
  23. This is the most amazing day of my life! I am so proud and overjoyed that I can say that my daughter (who is biracial) will be born the day that the headlines in the papers will announce our first African-American president. What a special day for America and what a special day for my daughter.
  24. I'm a Mama for OBAMA!! :-) Health care and education are two very important issues to me, I would love to see some sort of universal health care plan in effect. I honestly gave McCain careful consideration, but I really think Obama has some great ideas and I think he is exactly what this country needs right now.
