  1. ooohhh, I love it. I would definitely wear it, anything goes for a DW!
  2. I started getting my eyebrows threaded a couple of years ago. I think it is pretty painful, especially the first time! It seems like the more often you do it the less painful it is. I don't do it that often, but when I do it forces me to tear no matter how hard I try not to. I still like the results better than waxing, so the pain is worth it to me. Good luck!

One week you may need a jacket and the next you are back in shorts, you just never know. For this reason The Keys may be your safer bet... although we decided against our January wedding being there, because they too get some colder spells and we didn't want to risk it. Basically I am just a wimp when it comes to the cold. If you are thinking the Keys, I personally wouldn't choose Key West....they just don't have very pretty beaches, but some of the other keys do. I live in the Tampa Bay/Clearwater area, and although Clearwater is considered a great beach it just doesn't appeal to me for a wedding...then again maybe I have just been desensitized to it after living here for 26 years. Good Luck!
  4. Thanks for the advice. We really have no where else in the budget to take from and put towards photography. I will see about finding another bride to share with. Thanks!
  5. I did not read through this whole post to see if you figured out what the "rice" was. I use to be a vet tech and they are most definitely tapeworm segments. The tapeworm is in the intestinal tract and releases these segments that are alive until they crawl out and dry up. These segments contain eggs that fleas feed on. Good news is you do not need to worry about the other animals. The only way a mammal acquires a tapeworm is by ingesting a flea that has eaten the eggs. Very gross none the less!

I know she said that we couldn't use the largest buses and needed to be split into two since the larger buses can't navigate the hills up to our reception. So they must have bigger.

  8. I understand tipping wait staff, drivers, and anyone who goes above and beyond. However, I must be really cheap, because I have a hard time justifying tipping my wedding coordinator who I am requesting very little leg work from and who is pocketing over 50% of what she is charging us to put on a very simple ceremony. Is that awful of me?
  9. I am starting to get worried that we are not going to find a photographer (and by we I mean me, b/c he could really care less) or that I am going to have to settle for a less than mediocre one. We have a really tight budget, but photography is really important to me. I have found out that there are very few decent photographers in Jamaica (correct me if I am wrong please), and those that seem reputable are outrageous. Am I absolutely crazy to think I can find a decent photog for 3 hours of coverage for a 30 people group for less than $1,000 in Ocho Rios? I have tried Sungold and they are booked, and our next best option is Brian Nejedly whos work is nice but just not my vision. I guess I just need to lower my standards to match our budget Any ideas Thanks in advance.
  10. Those are so cute! I plan on getting my BM's dresses off the rack as well, I will have to run to Dillards this week. I would leave the applique as is, I really like it! What brand are the dresses?
  11. I went and picked this frame up today, and I love it even more than I thought I would. I think it will be perfect! I also went to Michaels and picked up two small glass containers/vases with corks for 99 cents each. Now I have to figure out how much sand.
  12. I went to MAC today and they have a face primer to help even your color and keep your makeup in place called "Prep + Prime" which I plan to get next time, it is very silky smooth. I did buy a great foundation/powder called "studio fix" ...I went there in search of it b/c I have really oily skin and I had read a lot of great reviews. FYI: you can schedule an appt. at MAC and they will do your makeup and teach you to do it yourself if you buy $50 in product. I plan on doing my own makeup on my wedding day so I thought this would be helpful. Also, I scheduled my appt the same day as our engagement shoot to make the most of it.

How come I can't seem to find the raffia fans on the OTC site? I know they go in and out of stock, but I can't even find the listing. What am I doing wrong?
  14. I will take the fans please! Probably all of them...what are the 2 different sizes? and can the ribbon be easily removed? Thanks!!!

  16. Sorry! I definitely think you should speak to the sellers, they should be able to work something out for you even if it is remaking them.
  17. I need some opinions ladies..... I have asked one of my long time friends to be one of my bridesmaids eventhough we have grown apart over the past couple years. She hasn't yet given me an answer as to whether or not they can go on our wedding cruise to Jamaica, but will by August 15th. Here is the dilemma... Her husband is a professional wedding photographer, but only for the DC/VA/MD area (no DWs). We have a small budget for our wedding, but photography is important to me. Our budget will not allow for us to fly in a photographer. Also, I have not come across any great photographers located in Jamaica, and the one that I may end up using is mediocre and costs $900 for 3 hours and a cd. I was thinking of asking my BM's husband if he would shoot our wedding and we would pay whatever he would normally charge or even for his cruise depending on how he wants to work it out. Do you think it is okay to ask him? If so, should I wait until they tell me if they are going to ask or do I ask now so they can figure that into their decision? I guess I just don't really know how to ask without making him feel obligated or like this is the only reason I want them to go. What would you do? Thanks!

We also planned a separate excursion for our guests to tour Ocho Rios, visit Dunn's River Falls and shopping tour for $30 pp. hmmm...this is significantly cheaper than what I was quoted for from Lees taking us from the Ocho Rios port to Reggae beach and then to Evitas and possibly another Ocho Rios attraction for $20 pp. Maybe I should look around and negotiate!

Everyday is different, but we were there for 3 weeks, and we really never had a 'cool' day. It was very comfortable in the morning, but by midday, it was HOT! January 19th is a great day, BTW *wink*. I'm trying to swing an anniversary trip back to Jamaica! oh yay, we have the same wedding day! Our ceremony will be about 11AM, so hopefully the sun is not in full force by then. I am sure I can survive the short ceremony, but we will be having our reception at Evita's right after and it is an open air restaurant so hopefully I won't be sweating the whole day.
  20. For those girls that got married on the beach in the Carribbean.... I was sure that I would end up getting an informal flowing chiffon gown for my beach wedding in Jamaica in January. However, I never found one that I liked on or felt like a bride in. I ended up with a silk taffeta dress with some crinolin and a chapel train. I was thinking about having the crinolin removed to make it lighter and shorten the train, but I also don't want to mess up the dress. Those of you that got married on the beach in a formal gown, were you absolutely miserable (temperature wise)? I guess of all the months January must be the coolest, right? Although by reviews I have read it is still HOT in Jamaica no matter what time of year! What are your thoughts? Thanks!
