  1. Jacqueline, you're so brave! The Amityville Horror spooks me soo much I can't watch it! Here I lovvvve ghost stories, but anything that has to do with the devil or demonic possession REALLY FREAKS ME OUT! I can't even look at the Exorcist for 5 secs...my FI likes to play around with me and will change the channel to it when it's on cable without me knowing...as soon as I hear or see it, I literally run out of the room! BTW, I think the house is in Amityville, NY. I remember hearing that it was a hoax and that the current owners say they don't experience a thing? That sounds strange to me, I think it is real!!
  2. I LOVE GH! I don't watch it as often as I'd like but when I do, I am soo into it! It totally annoys my FI, he says it's boring and can't understand my draw to it, esp when I get all freaked out after and have nightmares. But I can't help it, it's sooo fascinating, especially those EVPs! Yeah, that EVP with the princess was pretty darn good, but the EVP's of some little kids haunting a house saying "they don't want us here" really freaked me out! I come from an insanely superstitious family, so I have heard tons of ghost, oujia board, and psychic/spirit stories...I think that's why I am drawn to GH! The freekiest involved my 2 aunts...they were on their way back to LA from the Bay area and decided to spend the night in an old Victorian Bed and Breakfast in the Monterey area, right on the beach. My aunt who told me the story said it was gorgeous and the owners were so sweet. So the owner takes them up to their room, the attic, and the funniest thing my aunt told me was that she should have known something was wrong when she opened the windows, expecting to feel the ocean breeze and instead the wind blew from behind her, from the inside out! Anyway, they go to bed that night and after my aunt had been asleep for about an hour she felt someone tickling her feet. She thought she was dreaming, then felt it again and agian. She freaked out so bad she couldn't call out to my other aunt who was sleeping beside her, so she covered her feet with the blanket then fell back to sleep. Then she started to feel someone pulling her hair! She started praying and said it stopped. She ended up falling back to sleep and woke up again to find my other aunt up reading her bible (she's a major holy roller). She said someone was trying to get in bed with her, what felt like a small child, so she got up right away to pray. At that point my aunts looked at each other and said, let's get the heck outta here! It was about 4am or so and as they were leaving, another couple staying there was also leaving. They looked as if they hadn't slept much either! The owners tried to convinced them to stay for breakfast, but they all left immediately! Years later my aunt found out that supposedly a little boy living in that house had drowned in the ocean, so maybe that was him What a trip huh?
  3. Usually within 24 hours, which I was pleasantly surprised by...I am very familiar with Mexican time b/c I am Mexican myself!
  4. Hi P 402, I think you are right, I too am feeling that I'm freaking over something that is only a very small risk. I may still be a little wary going in the water for long periods of time before the wedding day, but other than that, I am going to try not to worry about it. I may still try to buy that protection stuff, but if I don't get around to it I won't be that upset .
  5. Welcome! Can't wait to hear the details of your engagement!

  9. Fun thread! Undergrad: Another UC Irvine Anteater!! Grad: UCLA Bruin...sorry MarieSam
  10. We are only having 6 guests, and I'm glad we are! Not as many hassles to worry about, and of course it is much more reasonable! Then the main reason is that we've always wanted something super intimate. I get so easily distracted, and I knew that if we had a wedding here in the US it would have had to be BIG (300+), and I just didn't want my wedding day to be a blur. I felt bad initially not opening up our destination wedding to more family and friends, but I would have had to open it up to the 300, and even though I know not all of them would have made it, we probably would have had a good 75-100 and again, it wouldn't be intimate any more. We are going to have a very informal AHR when we get back, so I'm sure it will all be good. After seeing Becky's (beckyandbrian) ceremony pics and she only had 7 guests, I'm even more excited that we're doing this! So much more intimate and meaningful.
  11. Thanks for your posts! Hmm, I may buy that protection stuff (I wonder if it really works?) and probably be very careful about going in the water before the wedding. Funny thing though, I have been in Cancun in June and had no problems whatsoever. I guess that attests how it's so random. Opice 34, let us know how it goes over the weekend!
  12. Not to mention, I would hate to spend a day at the beach before the wedding and then have bites all over for the pictures!!!!
  13. Hi! I was just on Tripadvisor and there have been some posts on the Playa del Carmen forum of travelers complaining of horrible sea lice bites. Has anyone, esp anyone who has been to the area and in the water recently, heard or experienced anything about this? It caught my attention b/c I'm going with my older parents who don't aren't beach people, but another family member is getting them so excited about going to the beach and now they can't wait. I would hate for them to get all bitten up and have a bad experience! Susan
  14. Welcome! I was like you back in December, not knowing what part of Mexico or Hawaii to choose! Thank god for this site, it made my decision soooo much easier and I"m sure it'll do the same for you. Have fun and congratulations!
  15. Welcome fellow RM bride! You'll love this place!

Thank you so much Becky!!!! I'm really getting excited now that's it's a little over a month away! I am definitely going to use a silk hair flower instead of a fresh one now, thank you for helping me decide that thru your pics! I originally wanted a fresh lily, but now I don't think I want something so big. I love the way the silk gardenia looks, or even a rose, and the best part is they look so real and won't wilt!
  18. Thank you ladies, that really helps! My bouquet is white roses and white lilies, so I was thinking of something a little diferrent for her, like pink roses.
  19. Hi! Now that my fiance and I are looking over our mass and what readings to pick, etc, we are thinking of different traditions to incorporate. In addition to the mexican lazo and coins, we want to present flowers to the Virgin Mary. My question is this...it is usually roses, right? Does anyone know if it's a specific color like red or pink, or does it matter?? I've been to many a wedding where this takes place but never paid attention to the details! Thanks!
  20. Just beautiful!!!! Thanks so much for sharing your photos and a big congrats to you both!!!!!
  21. Hi Becky, I was absolutely mesmerized by your slideshow! You make a gorgeous bride and you and your hubby are such a cute couple! The pictures really conveyed the emotion of the day with your family/friends. I love your small party...that's exactly what we're doing! I have to ask where you got your hair flower? Seeing your pictures is making me rethink how I am going to do mine!! Thanks so much and CONGRATULATIONS! I too would have called in sick to stare at those pics all day!!!! Susan
