  1. I almost did the same thing as you- getting married at Marriot at Gazebo...but we fell in love with Hilton to get married on beach and have a happy hour at a restaurant. Then we will move the reception to the FAC- we are having the reception at the open air restaurant by the water. It will be a bit warm but I love the ambience- we will do some flowers and a bunch of candles- should be great. We are looking right now for a DJ who will help lead the ceremony (announce first dance, etc.) and a florist (because I heard that another bride from forum used that florist recommended by FAC and they were HORRIBLE). I'll let you know once I have someone for those. Good luck!
  2. Bride2becancun: I can't wait to hear about what you are planning for FAC. Where are you having your ceremony and reception? Have you put down any sort of a deposit? I am still a bit confused on how to go about getting things "official". I think we need to sign a contract?
  3. No we are shooting for first friday in february so you are safe! And I'll be able to tell you more as I get into the planning there for the reception!
  4. And I will def. not be going with Marvin for flowers (I think he was one of the people she recommended to me too). I will search forum but if anyone has anyone off hand they recommend for flowers/decorations it'd be great!
  5. Thanks for the review..I am having the reception here so hopefully this review will me get everything cleared up in advance- thank you soo much for feedback! Did your DJ also MC (announce bridal party, first dance, etc.)?
  6. And besides the beautiful beaches down there- the Sandos in Playcar area that you are looking at for your wedding is in a GREAT location- right by vendors on a private street with security guards...I loved the outside area!
  7. My two cents on the Sandos hotels: There are two Sandos hotels- one is in Playa del Carmen/Playcar area and the other is in between Playa del Carmen and Cancun (this is Sandos Caracol). Don't make the mistake (like me) of driving to the wrong one. FYI if you are renting a car- both hotels are VERY difficult to find. Make sure you (or your taxis) have good directions. We stopped and asked for directions and found that seven diff. hotel security guards did not know where it was or how to get to Sandos....so FYI. The one Playcar area I saw the lobby and the outside of the hotel- was beautiful and very upscale, the people in the lobby itself were extremely great and spoke perfect English. The one that I stayed at, Sandos Caracol was not on my list to look at for weddings so I can't comment on their abilities for this. The Caracol resort is huge, they have a lot of buffets (the food was so/so....try to make reservations early for a restaurant as they are the way to go), several pools and activities and they have a disco I believe so you could likely use it for dancing if you wanted. They also have activities there... I would say that the overall hotel experience for me was so/so compared to all that we saw in Cancun to Tulum area...but that is just my opinion. Quality of the food and rooms could be found much better at neighboring hotels. If anyone is in the area- a must do is to take a trip to the ruins in Tulum. It costs three dollars to get in and you can get access to the beach there and swim by the ruins..it was AMAZING. I'll try to post some pictures. Your weddings down there will be amazing..again I would just have directions for wherever you stay or take a shuttle for you and your guests..Otherwise enjoy- you will have a great time in the area!!!
  8. I can't seem to find the thread on your review... you posted it yesterday?
  9. Hi everyone- I just stayed at the Sandos Caracol last week for 2 nights...is there where your wedding is? I don't have many pictures (sorry...)!
  10. And I forgot to mention Melissa that you look gorgeous in your picture!! Beautiful dress- I love it!
  11. I just missed your wedding and congrats- I checked out of the hotel on Tuesday...my FI and I loved the FAC so much! We were blown away by the hotel, the people and the restaurant on the water to have the reception. I would love (love) when you have time to relax to hear all about your wedding and pictures. We are tentatively scheduled for the first weekend in Feb,...hooray!
  12. Hi everyone..I am going on a site visit trip, leaving this weekend and I have not been able to get any reply from Dreams Cancun or Dreams Tulum...and I want to decide on a resort next week! I know that they are busy but its making me so frustrated because I looooove Dreams Cancun resort and all of your wedding photos and really want to meet with Claudia (or anyone) but they won't return emails/calls. Any advice? Do I just show up and try to talk to someone?
  13. I added Fiesta Americana Condesa to my list- Mariana is one of the wedding coordinators and she has been so great to deal with! I can't wait for my trip!
  14. Hi ladies. I have a site visit in about a week at FAC with Mariana..who I have been so impressed with how quickly she gets back to me!! I can't wait! I did not see a DJ option in the information she sent me. Can you have a DJ for reception or do they only have live music?
  15. Opice..or anyone...how much was it to rent a car in Mexico? Did you just need passport and credit card and get one at airport? I'm trying to decide whether to take the bus to site visits or to rent a car...but I am likely looking at hotels down in Tulum also so may be worth it??
  16. Help! Haven't heard back from Dreams for my site visit coming up in May. Has anyone heard of any other hotels in Cancun that offer great discounts/free stays for site visits? Thanks!!!
