  1. So glad to find this post! We are using them to have the bottles delivered to our hotel (Fiesta Americana Condesa) and I am so glad to have the contact info. I can't seem to find prices for anything...do you mind if I ask what type of 30 bottles you got and about how much was it for hard alchohol (like vodka, tequila) and wine? Thanks and good luck with your refund... you are right though you would hate to run out!
  2. Honeymoon in Australia will be fantastic!!!!! I thought I was the only one crazy enough to consider marrying in Mexico and then traveling to Australia/New Zealand for the hm. Do you have any good info on how long flight is and any good tips for airlines that fly from mexico out there
  3. Did you ever hear how much the fire dancers were? I will email them too and let you know if I hear back...thanks!
  4. See below link for my input on this resort (if you do a search for this resort you will also see some discussion on it. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t18887 I overall was not impressed with the resort either. When I was doing my site visits I stayed there for a few nights while in between Cancun and Tulum..I had found a great last minute deal on hotwire. Ironically, I don't have any pictures (sorry) and I didn't see any weddings while I was there. I think that there are a lot of hotels in area which would offer you better food and nicer rooms. There was also a strange overly aggressive sales pitch there to try and get you to do a time-share. There is a Sandos in Playcar however which I found (on accident) and looked beautiful and was in a cute stretch of hotels!!!! I would recommend checking out the one in Playcar over Sandos Caracol. That's my two cents..hope it helps. But also just remember that it's beautiful blue waters and a special occassion- so you really will be happy just about anywhere!!!
  5. Good advice I love it this thread. I will definitely try to keep that perspective in mind and not feel selfish for the DW decision......Thanks.
  6. Haha..and if you pass by the Hyatt by chance while you are down there.... feel free to take pictures of restaurants . I am waiting to hear from them where you can fit a DJ and dancing into the restuarants.... Most importantly- have FUN!!!!!!
  7. Fiesta Americana Condesa contact: MARIANA LEON VILLANUEVA Bodas y Eventos /Weddings and Events Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancún Blvd. Kukulcán Km. 16.5 Zona Hotelera Cancún, Q. Roo 77500, México Tel: +52 (998814216 / her email is: [email protected]> I think that for the RUI it's Eréndira Fong: [email protected] (Cancun, Mexico) I can't find the number for this, just an email. and for Le Meridien I can't find her number but I think it's posted on the forum somewhere. Try going to general forum and look for this hotel specifically. I would also go to google or to Strayweddings.com and get the phone numbers (quicker than email) easily for most of these places- one stop shop! Good luck!!!! I would definitely try
  8. I am waiting for Martha to get back to me on prices. Do you have the pricing information for how much she charges for pictures and video services? Thanks!
  9. Thanks everyone! Now I just need to narrow down but I am definitely going to incorporate some of these. And I never would have thought to read the Irish blessing but that is a must have for the end of the ceremony! I have been looking for poems for my brother to read- these are great ideas- what would I do without this forum
  10. And Chantal85- I am glad that you have such a great FI to keep you motivated in planning the wedding...I'm sorry you are not on speaking terms with your mom . I too have felt really discouraged and wanted to elope..but you have to remember it will be soo worth it whatever you do on your special day!
  11. I wish I would have found this post 6 months ago! I sooo relate to everyone here. I have heard everything under the sun about having a DW wedding in Mexico from my family- thank goodness though my brother and sister are really supportive. I have heard the guilt trip that it's "selfish" making others pay so much to travel for a wedding, Mexico could be "tacky", it's more expensive, none of the extended family can make it, etc. I am the first of siblings to get married and the idea of a Destination Wedding is something that they think is extravegant and not common....I have tried every time of approach- rational/money, pictures and explanations of how beautiful/special it will be. I even took a million pictures on a site visit hoping that would get everyone as excited as we were....but somehow I wish that the wedding planning would have been more like I had dreamed it would be, and less about me "convincing" folks about why they should be excited too. But in the end, I have stuck to my guns like you girls because even if its just us and a few others I can't think of a more perfect day in my mind to celebrate. I can't imagine regretting the decision to do a DW.... Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this post!
  12. There are some really good recommendations (and vendors that may not be as highly recommended) on threads- if you do a search you will come up with some recommendations from ladies that have used them and have feedback. I have heard that Flores Julieta and Vanessa Jaimes are popular in Cancun (I am looking into Julieta for mine). I have great things for DJ about Carlos Martinez (website is www.manniacancun.com.mx)- based on everyones feedback from the forum I am looking into him also . But if you do some searches you will be amazed with the amount of good info you can find- good luck!
  13. Not sure if anyone is still following this post- but thanks for the recommendations! I sent an email to Flores Julieta so hopefully she will be able to get to back to me with some prices!
  14. Im using ewedding too- I just signed up but soo far it seems really easy!!
  15. Hello everyone! To anyone who has tried to plan a ceremony at one hotel and a reception at another...I need help in a big way!!! Originally, my plan was to do the following: Ceremony on beach at Hyatt Cancun Caribe, cocktail hour at Hyatt restaurant, then reception at the Fiesta Americana Condesa. I thought that this was set in stone until....I tallied up the estimated budget with my parents this weekend (gulp) and it was over double my budget!! Trying to budget for this wedding and make us and my parents all happy has been sooo much harder than I ever thought possible...but that being said of course I really appreciate the fact that they are able to help at all what they can. I am now trying to decide how to minimize some costs... If anyone has any recommendations (besides eloping..haha) I would really appreciate it! I almost had a breakdown when after all this work and research I realized I need to do some major changes and quickly... I think I am running into trouble with ala carte pricing for photography/flowers/etc. versus getting a package deal... and the problem is that I love the ceremony site at Hyatt but the reception cite at FAC. So questions for your fabulous folks: Did anyone else who did not plan everything at the same hotel/venue end up paying a high amount because they did everything ala carte style? Were there any hidden ways to cut back if you do go with seperate places? If I cut out the cocktail hour: If I have a ceremony on beach around 430 but don't have the reception until 7:30 or so (the earliest that my FAC reception site is available) what would I have my guests do? Is there a cheap way to entertain guests for an hour or two before a later reception time? If I caved and did a package deal at Hyatt: Has anyone had their reception at the Hyatt Restaurant and know if DJ's are allowed and if the space would accomodate large group of about 75 plus area for dancing? Thanks so much- I appreciate the help!
  16. Attached is the Hyatt information for dinner and costs if it helps.... I think foodwise it may have been about the same as the Fiesta Americana Condesa and the restaurant is really pretty! Wed%20Proposal%204%20Packages%20%26%20Prices%20PDF[1].pdf
  17. Not sure of what type of reception that you are looking for- but the Hyatt has a private restaurant that you can have privately for about 75 people- the cost is $5 pp to have it privately...it is gorgeous depending on what type of dinner place you are looking for.
  18. I love Pismo Beach!!! I lived in Shell Beach area for 10 years- what a perfect place to get engaged!!!
  19. I can't seem to get my pictures to upload but if you send me your email address in the meantime, I will shoot them to you via email.
  20. I have attached some wedding proposals from the Hyatt with general pricing (which you may already have). Let me see if I can send some photos for you... hyatt.zip
  21. Hi there- I went to the Hyatt Cancun Caribe and loved the hotel for a site to have the ceremony on the beach and we will be having a cocktail hour in one of the restaurants. I will try to add in some photos for you. Here is the info of the wedding coordinator (although I think she has been out and she has been hard to get ahold of recently- but she seems great from my site visit): Lissette Velez Coordinadora de Banquetes / Banquets Coordinator Hyatt Cancun Caribe & Resort Blvd. Kukulcan Km 10.5 Zona Hotelera Cancun, Quintana Roo 77500 (México) Tel. 22. I love, love this forum! I have asked so many people about how to create a general website (so that we could use one for the wedding). No one knew how and I was thinking it would be too difficult for a technically challenged person (me) to do.... you girls rock! This has everything I ever needed to know, all in one post! Thanks, thanks, thanks everyone! I have already gone to the different websites and will be picking one soon! I should have known that there would be a post on this somewhere on the forum.
  23. For anyone who knows which bride and her flowers that I am referring to- any help would be great! I want to send a copy of the flowers to a florist for my Cancun wedding in February and now I can't find the picture (lol). It was a recent bride I believe and it was a really full, flowing group of pink orchids- beautiful! If anyone can help that would be great- thanks!
  24. Perfect post for my search for a DJ- thanks everyone! Did he help lead the ceremony (announce first dance, or the wedding party names, etc.) or just play music? I am ideally hoping to find someone who can help lead/announce the traditional items during the reception....thanks!
