Doesn't make much sense to me and I am from Canada where customs here is "hey where you from, oh ontario, have a nice day". I am affraid of american customs etc.
  3. Thanks so much for the price break down. It is very helpful because I think those are the upgrades we will go with.
  4. Congratulations and thanks for the fab review post!

I got a booking # as soon as 10 ppl put down deposits with sunquest.

You dont pick a location or anything. Then it asks you your names, your parents names, your witnesses names, the number of guests (I guessed), it asks for a deposit, your # from your tour company, the tour companies name and then you submit it. Within a couple of days you get your voucher.
  7. I asked a guest who I know recently travelled there. He said it sets behind the resort not on the water. I wouldn't quote me on that because I havent seen it first hand.

I had those both at dinner. And rum punch is free. Again there is NO FEE for the FREE wedding!!!!!!ONLY 250 for the minister fees!!!!!!!!!!! Not 250 + 250...ok good... ETA: unless this has changed since december....I paid 250...and thats it ...plus photography...I have the receipt if anyone needs like visual verification hahahah !! Thanks for the clarification because I was getting very confused.

For the free package you get a bouqet for you but you can get one for your girls. I know looking at what others got it was way more than $35. There is a couple of threads: Flowers, Photographer, Riu & Boutonnieres and corsages to look at Tai Flora Services Ltd. - Jamaica's Full Service Florists

Did you have troubles booking?? I am trying to switch to this day from the 28th (that is what I orginally booked because I didn't think I could get the 22nd but it was just the time slot that wasn't available. What time slot do you have?? I didn't have any trouble booking once I had a booking number from sunquest. I also booked the first week that packages were available for 2009. I am getting married at 3. I think somewhere else I put 4, but it is 3pm. What package did you girls pick?? I have learnt a lot through another wedding site so if I can help anyone out...just fire questions. As for Chandyln... I have emailed her to ask her about the free package but I haven't received a response as of yet (i mailed wed). I got all repsonses back from the riu website in less than a week. I haven't emailed Chandyln yet. My fiancee and I are doing a low key, not to expensive wedding. We are doing the free package. I am not upgrading to anything until we get there, except for maybe the dinner and reception.

Did you have trouble getting your date? Did you find the travel agents didn't have all rates just yet? When are you sending out invites. cheers to all. This is a very exciting time for all of us and I would like to share experiences with all of you I am getting married January 22, 2009 at 4pm at ROR. I have book my trip with a TA. We have booked our min for a group rate and that gave us a booking number which we were able to use for RIU. Out travel agent was great at getting us a rate for that time. The only thing we dont know is when our flight will be. It would be the Satuday +/- 1 day out of Toronto. All of our guests know that. We sent out invitations already, last week. They are kinda STD/invitations with a link to a free website we setup. We did it this early because we wanted people to know ahead of time. I thought there was no reason to send out both a STD and invitation. Any questions just PM me.
  14. I got a quote of $3000 for the photographers fee, including $1000 worth of print credit. I would just have to pay for his travel. We havent decided but with our group rate we get the 21st person free, which we will use for him, if thats what we decide.
  15. Oh one other thought. If I remember their were a couple of brides on here that were having trouble for April trying to get rooms because the hotel was booked. Just a thought.

Thanks Jill I went a lot earlier than other brides here at the advice of my TA. Because sunquest is the only carrier their are typically 1-2 flights per week. She said if there is for example another wedding party at the same time you may have trouble booking as seats will be taken early. She suggested in order not to be disappointed to RSVP for our Jan wedding by September. We will still allow other people to book after if they want but thats when our group rate is up.

Becky, what is the Seagrape like? Does anyone know what the menu at the Plantation is like? I know at the Mammee restaurant you can order off the menu... When I first signed up for this site I was so confused. I joined so early that all the pros had everything figured out. It took me 2 days to read through all the posts and I was so confused. I cried because I couldnt figure out what to do first. After a week of freaking out I came up with a plan. This is how I decided things step by step, maybe it will help you 1. I tried to figure out how many people would be coming. I made a list of all the people I figured would come from my invite list so that I had a rough guideline to go by. I invited 115 people and I figure I will have around 40 people attend 2. My fiancee and I decided what kind of wedding we wanted. We wanted a very informal wedding 3. Then I decided which location we wanted to get married. I choose beach before I realized that we could switch when we got there. 4. I looked at the dinner options for the number of people we were having. Then we decided whether we wanted to pay extra or not 5. We then looked at the reception ideas. I had to rely on all the fabulous brides on here to see pictures and hear their reviews. I am still not competely settled, but the ladies here sure help with answering any questions. 6. When it came to decorations etc we decided that these aren't as important to us so we will decide when we get there. I attached a copy of a menu that another bride sent to me. Hope it helps. 18. Oh this is all my fault for posting the picture. So Sorrrryyyy MD_OCR bride. Just go with your gutt and then stick to it.
  19. I posted the tours supplied by Sunquest for this year from ROR. Our guests were so excited to get this information. Thought I should share. Sorry I couldn't get it all into one file. I got frustrated and posted it in three. Sunquest Tours.doc Sunquest Tours 2.doc Sunqust Tours 3.doc
  20. A friend of the family recently returned from Jamaica and took some pictures of the resort for us. I dont seem to have seen the brides who are in these pictures. I have posted them in photobucket but I am a newbie to this so hopefully it works. christenew - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I would actually like to get married on the Tuesday of the week that we're looking at (it would be the anniversary of the proposal) and there is lots of availability, but I don't know that with the flight schedules that I'll be able to be in Jamaica for the required 2 days. Also, my sister is a teacher and so since we're not doing this on March Break or over Christmas, she's only going to be able to be there for the weekend plus 2 days (either before or after the weekend), so scheduling is becoming a bit of a problem. I guess it's like that for everyone and so that's why the middle of the week and the weekends are popular. I can't believe how stressed I'm getting about this already and the wedding is so far away. I guess picking the resort and the date are 2 of the biggest decisions. Anyways, I've rambled on enough. Thanks again for your calming words of wisdom. I am also a bride from Ontario, so the only company is sunquest. I am booking with my TA and she told me it doesnt matter what day of the week your guests fly out, especially to be part of a group rate. It only matters that you and your witnesses are there in the time required. There are flights for Jamaica on Saturday, that is when ours is. The other thing is westjet flys to Jamaica direct from Ottawa. You can search which days they fly in and out of Jamaica so she could figure out her flights. If you get a great TA they should do all this for you to help you out. Hope you figure everything out.
  22. Thanks so much. That is very helpful!
  23. Welcome fellow Ontario bride. Any questions just ask away. Try and remember to sleep though, there is so much info on this site you could read for days.
  24. Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!!!!! and Congrats!
