  1. My plan was to plan my vows, readings and ring ceramony. I am giving a print out to my fiancee. He will have to opportunity right before the ceramony to talk with the minister. I have broken down by the welcome, the vows, the rings, reading, etc. It has what we would like the minister to say but that he could also add in around it anything he wanted/needed to. We are having a guest at our wedding do a reading. I hope this can be done.
  2. Ok so my fiancee went to the post office and I almost fell off my chair when he called me. He got a quote of $73.60 to send it which arrives in 4 business days or $17.85 to take 2 weeks. I said well then I guess it will take 2 weeks cause the other is highway robery. Fozzy - Did you fax yours? I haven't seen any brides on here that have done that. From what I have read Chandlyn says the original needs to be mailed.
  3. We decided on a card and that's it. We can't really afford what we would like to do. We thought instead of getting something cheaper that neither of us really wanted a card with something special that we could write to eachother would mean more. Just an idea.
  4. oh one other thing. Did you send the original notarized documents or photocopies?
  5. I got my documents all together today and I am going to send them. I am confused. On Riu's website there is no street address or postal code. You anyone confirm the address they sent theirs to. Thanks!
  6. My intension isn't to freak anyone out, but why did you not send your birth certificate? I am only wondering because everything I have read says it is a requirement for Jamaica. This kinda makes me laugh because you need your birth certificate to get a passport in Canada so it is kinda redundant. It makes me wonder if it just goes back to Jamaican mentality which is no problem man. I just dont want to have happen what happened in Mexico. People found out that they weren't really married because the marriages weren't official. Maybe I am just making too much out of this? 7. ok ladies here's the deal with what I am going to do. I am sending the short one since we just paid $60 because my fiancee lost his this week right before I went to get it notarized so we had to order a new one. I am not going to reorder the long for each of us. $$$. I am going to send her the short one and if I get there and there is a problem I will just say well your website says this birth certificate and this is my birth certificate. I would argue it with her. If there is a problem, fake marry us and I will go to city hall when we get home.
  8. I am planning on still being intoxicated from the night before on the way down. I will take my hangover to the beach.
  9. I think it is possible that you don't need the long certificate. I figure we would have heard from brides that have run into problems if this was the case.
  10. Um problemo. Maybe some other Canadian brides can say what they did but I was not under the impression we needed our long birth certificate. I am just learning this week that such a think exists. Can anyone clarify this.
  11. I figured I wait to see what time chicklet decided to leave to go to the airport and I would go 30 min earlier so I could get mine hung in the closet. LOL. I don't really care either way. I am getting so excited....
  12. That was where I was trying to book but they wont give us a group rate because we have under 10 room. Do you mind me asking how much you are paying? My rate was quoted at $141.
  13. Thanks but the majority of our guests are from out of town with no place to park. With it being January we need a spot to stay over for our 6am flight.
  14. Hey ladies (and gents) Just wondering if any of you brides are trying to arrange a hotel pre departure out of TO? I am trying to arrange park and fly for guests and I am just wondering if anyone was able to get a group rate? How many people did you have to have for a group rate? Thanks!
  15. I know this wasn't your question but something to think of. My dad booked with sunquest for my wedding to stay at ROR and then wanted to move to the couples resort for some extra time. He had huge issues with booking it. In the end he wasn't able to because sunquest was going to charge him two round trip airfares and would have been so expensive. It would have been cheaper for him to fly back to Toronto and then fly out again to another destination. I don't know if you are flying with sunquest but it is just something maybe to talk to your TA with before you book. Happy planning!
  16. If you search for golf I have twice posted the courses around ROR and the prices.
  17. I have an appointment to get my stuff notarized on Friday and then I will send it out. I am getting excited and nervous. I am not nervous for the marriage just the wedding. I am worried about my level excitement as the days count down. I feel like there is stuff to do, but none of the big things which is good. I am glad to hear I am not the only one having a little anxiety.
  18. I am at 3 months and I am getting excited and nervous. I am not nervous about the marriage part, it is just about the wedding and all the planning. I just have to remind myself to breathe.
  19. The boys in our group will be golfing while the girls are going to Margarittaville. 20. I have been on the site for almost a year and have not heard anything about fireworks. Sorry to diappoint.
  21. Don't forget there is also the option of having a private reception at Plantation including the dinner $1000 for 4 hours.
  22. I got a quote from Tai flowers -18 calla lillies is $161. Floral fantasies was $105 for 18 + $50 delivery.
  23. You are not the only bride to experience this. When I first arranged I was told the same thing by my travel agent and then I found this website. Thank goodness It is true that apprently the wedding coordinator, Chandlyn will contact you the month prior to your wedding to set stuff up. However, a number of brides on here contact her before hand because they want to ensure the type of reception and dinner they want will be available. You can usually just reserve it without adding extra money down. If you are looking at a simple/small wedding with the flowers, photog, decorations etc you can wait until you get there to pick things out. Just remember that there is 3 weddings per day if something that you want ask her for it. You can probably search her email address. I don't have it infront of me. I have noticed on here and through my adventures that Chandlyn really isn't a traditional wedding coordinator. If you want that you gotta go out and hire your own or take on the role yourself. There are lots of brides on here to get info from. You can even see the flowers, decorations, bands, djs, restaurants, receptions. Everything you could want is here. My advise is to take your time and go through the website, ask all your questions and then email Chandlyn with what you want. Hope that helps! Happy planning and welcome. We have been asking for details on EVERYTHING for months now but keep getting told that the resort doesn't give out this info or make any arrangements till a month before the wedding date!! We have no idea on our options or costs AT ALL. I was just wondering if you booked through a travel agent or if you doing the planning on your own? Would it be better for me to contact the resort wedding planner for information on things? Do you have her email address? Any info you could provide would be much appreciated as we are going crazy here!!
  24. I have not heard of such a thing with ROR. My dad was in Jamaica in January and tried to arrange to go and see the resort and the wedding locations. They wouldn't allow it, even for 30 min.
