  6. Great Parnassus Cancun - B their front desk - F- Since I had my wedding at a non-AI, I decided to stay at the Great Parnassus with my guests. Last May, my mom and I stayed here to make sure it would be good for the guests. We loved it. Fast forward to my wedding week...... ah not so much. The problems with this hotel started when my mom, and two other couples were turned away because they over booked the hotel. They made them stay at a different hotel down the strip for the night. Greg and I tried talking to the night manager Federico but he was no help. I was so upset. I had 50 people staying here and they couldn't accommodate my party. They came back the next day but it took a long time before they even got their rooms. Everyone had to leave their luggage in my room. The good side of it was that they gave my mom the Presidential Suite! It was just like the oceanfront room we had but she was on the 12th floor and had the best views. Here's the main event of the week - Greg got 14 stitches thanks to this hotel not taking care of their maintenance problems. The night before the wedding, I was showering to get ready to go to dinner. He was taking a nap. Since we had a hot tub on our balcony, the bathroom only had a shower. It was huge and high and you had to step up to get into it. When I was done, I opened up the doors to the shower to find all of my towels on the floor soaking wet. Even my flip flops were floating around (The closet is in the bathroom but its a HUGE walk in). There was seriously about 3" of water. So I called out to Greg to come quick. I feel so horrible that I did that bc I didn't realize the water had spilled out the bathroom door and into the hallway! All I heard was,"AHHHHHHH get out here, get out here!!" When I opened the door he was on the floor holding his leg covered in blood. He slipped and fell..hit his leg on the corner of the concrete wall. I got him a towel right away and that's when I saw he had 2 deep gashed..I saw his bone. It was blehhhhhhhhhhhhh gross. He had to drag himself down the hall to get onto a chair. It looked like a bloody murder scene. I called up the docs and they took him to the Doctor's Office in the hotel. 14 stitches later........ $300 later....... Greg goes to the front desk, the same a-hole night manager is there. The first thing he says to Greg,"We are not responsible. You let the water out of the shower." Not even a, "How are you? How can we help you?" Nothing. Greg had to argue with him for a while without anything done for us. Greg even threatened to sue if they weren't going to give a crap. We told them to get maintenance to our room but they didn't. The next time I showered I did some investigating myself. There was a crack where the shower met the floor.. so bad that the water came out like a faucet! Here this douche is blaming us for the water, yet it was always their problem all along. Unfortunately, after this..Greg was barely able to stand during the ceremony. He had to sit 75% of the time at our wedding and never got to dance. He couldn't even enjoy a drink bc of the meds they gave him. He was in so much pain for the whole wedding I'm proud of my lil trooper though, he toughed it out without complaining once about the pain. We ended up getting stuck in Cancun an extra day bc of bad weather here in Jersey. When my travel agent called the hotel to get them to give us the room for free since we booked so many rooms that week with our guests, the response they gave her was,"Why should we comp their room if they're threatening to sue. We don't owe them anything." After debating with them for a while, they told her that they'll only comp our room if Greg signs a form that says he will not sue the hotel. So he did. He also got a good manager to refund the $300 and they gave us a $130 credit towards the gift shops. Aside from this, we still enjoyed staying at the hotel believe it or not. Aside from the front desk behind incompetent idiots and crab asses, the other staff were so friendly. It's not the absolute greatest AI, but it was good for what we wanted.
  7. JW Marriott - A++ My wedding day went off without a hitch. The JW Marriott really got it all together. My wedding planner Francisco Roman was SO wonderful to deal with. As we all know the planning of a DW could be nerve wrecking without the right person to deal with, and Francisco couldn't have been more on point. He responded to my questions within a day with the answers I needed. He sent me plenty of pictures that I needed to make decisions. He also had emailed me a questionnaire that was perfect to really piece the event together to make sure we weren't missing anything. He really knows what he's doing. The JW never gave me headaches, never tried to overcharge me, and never said no to me. I would recommend this resort 100% in a heartbeat to have your DW. Rehearsal - I stayed behind to go over the little details with Francisco and give him 3 luggage bags full of favors, programs, fans.. all the little stuff. I might've overwhelmed him but he put everything in it's place the day of exactly as I had asked. I knew I could count on him. Ceremony - DH and I arrived at the Casamagna (where the ceremony was held) an hour early to take pics. That hour FLEW! I had to hide from my guests and sneak into an empty room as they were arriving at the hotel. I got to see them walking up the aisle from the window yet they didn't know I was watching. The music flowed perfectly. The wedding party walked up to Somewhere Over the Rainbow and me....... November Rain m/ It was a bit windy at the gazebo. During my sand ceremony, my sand blew all over the place Here's a bit of advice, I know Jean-Marcus has made a post about this in the past but I'll repeat it- 5pm is late to have a ceremony if you plan on taking pics AFTERWARDS. We rushed through pics with the Bridal Party and parents bc we were losing light. Jean-Marcus was so patient with me lol Cocktail Hour - We had the cocktail hour at the Seaside Garden. It was a last minute decision due to the fact that I wanted the beach and it was torn apart. I'm so happy I chose this location. My guests had a great time walking around the resort which was so pretty all lit up at night. By the time we got there, cocktail hour was pretty much over but I still got to try a lil bit of everything. The food was SO good. We had a mariachi band playing for our guests which was a nice touch. Reception - The best part We chose the Pool Bar to have the reception. The tables were set around the pool area also overlooking the water. It was a perfect setting. We chose to have a buffet with all Mexican food as well a fajita station. We figured it be a great way to have our guests try a little bit of everything since most have never traveled to Mexico. The food was out of this world. It was AMAZING. If my dress wasn't fitting so tight, I would've gone up for 3rd's While everyone was eating, we surprised our guests with firedancers. No one was expecting it so it created a lot of OOOhs and AAAhhs. The performers put on a 20 minute show. They are so talented - They put on an awesome show! Our guests danced the night away and this --> hahaha Francisco was always hiding in the wings making sure I was ok. He was wonderful! If anyone has questions, post in this thread. I haven't seen too many JW Marriott threads around so I want to answer any questions brides may have.
