Cabo Locals, I Have a Question For You!

Abbie actually got married there yesterday, and since I didnt get a phone call from her screaming, I assume they found it okay and had no problems -

ok karina is TOTALLY awesome - i just asked her about 10 mins ago if she had any kind of map of the grounds that i could put in my welcome packet for my guests so they dont get lost around the resort and she replied right away with this great map that is even numbered with the locations in english! i am going to ask her for a spanish one too. i am attaching the full size jpg file inside a word doc in addition to posting the image from photobucket in case anyone else wants to use it! omg i know, my MIL is such a saint! i cant wait, we leave for cabo 3 weeks from today! dont worry, i will write the most thorough review of everything that i can possibly do. i already have a plan on how im going to do it LOL i started an outline of all the things i need to review so that i can do it on our plane ride home. i think we are going to end up taking a laptop with us to load photos from our flashcards, so i will be able to type up my reviews on the way home and then post as soon as i get back LOL OHHHH by the way.... for those of you girls who are only having your reception at the westin, please realize that you will automatically be charged higher rates for everything than those of us who have a huge room block reserved. my group was required to book a minimum of 10 rooms, and we far surpassed that - i got the final list of guest reservations yesterday from karina, and we have a total of 28 rooms booked (which accounts for about 55 of our guests, and a total of 89 nights' stays between all of our guests, the avg guest is staying about 3 nights just FYI)

My (really, really) big to-do list
Maura replied to becks's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am stepping in to answer some questions, because things are getting out of control with members asking people to email them files. The reason I'm stepping in is that I've had numerous requests from brides who have posted templates to let people know how this forum works because they dont have the time to email everyone who requests the file that doesn't have enough points to download it. Later today, there will be an entire thread posted on the forum with some new rules and clarifications of old rules for all the members to follow since it seems people need to be reminded of how this community operates. #1 - the person who created this file (and thread) is named Rebecca, not Becky. Her username is Becks. If your name was Jennifer and you hated being called Jenny, how would you feel? #2 - if you do not have enough points to open the file, the protocol is to bookmark this thread and come back to it to download it when you have accumulated enough points. BDW is a participatory community, which means you have to PARTICIPATE and give back to the community in order to reap the benefits of downloading attachments that so many generous brides have provided. Rebecca, nor any other bride on this site, wants to spend all their time emailing the documents to each and every one of you who do not have enough points to download the document. Each time you download an attachment, it costs you 50 points. Period. If you do not have 50 points, you do not solicit donations for points either. You go and you post and you earn your points fair and square. In the case when a document is showing up as a read-only file for you when you download it, that means you do not have the same version of the program that the person used to create the document. There is no amount of emailing that will fix or change that. I've read most of the thread here and feel like the pricing we've been given by Karina is much different and much higher than what's been expressed by everyone here. Can you ladies give your thoughts? BEACH CEREMONY: Wooden avantgarde chairs: US$ 14 each White aisle runner: US$ 100 Hoopa with fabric and flowers: US$750 Flower petals: US$ 60 per dozen Flower sachets: US$ 50 each RECEPTION Wooden avantgarde chairs: US$ 14 each Rent specially-colored linens: aprox US$ 35 each (price may vary depending on final selection) CAKE $12 US$ per person We had originally signed with a different Starwood property in the Caribbean (and they know that) so I feel like they're trying to take advantage of us. Can you all help? thanks!!! Hi - proper introduction from you first please, such as your names, the date you are planning to get married at the westin, etc etc, so we know who we are talking to. I honestly can't help you with these prices - my MIL is paying for my reception so I haven't seen the BEOs with any prices listed on them because she doesnt want me to worry about what it's costing. Perhaps some of the other gals can chime in though. I do know that the white avant guarde chairs and specialty linens have to be rented from outside the westin, so they are going to charge you an arm and a leg for them. ANYTHING that has to be rented from outside the westin, just assume there's about a 500% markup. the very few things i was involved in with my reception of knowing how much something cost (i.e. centerpieces), any time i wanted anything that had to be rented, it was ridiculously priced. its best to use stuff they have in-house because its way cheaper, and in some cases, no charge at all. for the cake, please realize that everyone gets quoted a different price - it all depends on the number of guests you have and the style of cake you want. so cant really help you there without more details from you. if you are unhappy with the cake price, you dont have to get the cake from the westin. you can order it from someone like jen hatton.

leia, ill be honest, i think it might look weird on the bout. i think it would be much nicer to sew it on a hankie or inside his suit jacket or something like that.

My MIL came up with a cute idea for favors and she brought me a sample bag of these Mexican mint candies shaped like hearts to put inside little white organza favor bags. Bless her heart for coming up with this idea and telling me not to worry about bringing the candy down - she will do that. All I had to do was order the mini prganza bags! Here's what the bags look like: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...anza35inch.png Here's the candies: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...l/CIMG1054.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...l/CIMG1055.jpg I'll put little TY tags on them, which is my DIY project for this weekend. My inspiration for these is from Angela's (cheese_diva) planning post. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t10415 Angela's tags on the left, our logo on the right will go on the tags. Will either do the circle ones (unless they end up being a huge hassle) or i will do them as squares. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...l/Picture2.png

glenda do you have a fridge at the office where you could keep milk? you could keep protein shake powder at your desk and milk in the fridge so if you didnt eat breakfast because you were in a rush, you still can have something nutritious so you dont go starving til lunch?
