  1. So I met my friend at my job she was their housekeeper and after I left we began hanging out. I mean we talked for hours (when she was suppose to be working). Anyways my boss txted me and told me she hasn't been to work in 2 weeks. The last txt I got from her was on the 24th. She was dating this guy and said she found out she didn't like him. Thats the only odd thing she told me. Anyways I've tried txting and calling her and from different numbers and so did my boss. They've called the police station and hospitals and no info. Should I go by her house. The weather is getting bad (i have a bad feeling). It's about half an hour. But I'm really worried. She hasn't missed work for even one day in 6 years! It's not her! ETA: Title should say "friend missing WWYD??" Sorry I can't talk or type right now.
  2. I always snope everything and this is sadly true so I'm posting more information on it. And theres more pictures. On Valentine's Day 2002, Katie Kirkpatrick, then a freshman at Rochester College (a small Christian college in Rochester Hills, Michigan) was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Undaunted, Katie strove to keep up with her studies, but she suffered another setback in 2003 when she was diagnosed with "an inoperable lung tumor wrapped around her pulmonary artery." Nonetheless, in 2004 the resilient Katie took part in champion cyclist Lance Armstrong's "Ride for the Roses" cancer fundraiser: Dr. Craig Bowman of the Bible faculty spearheaded a campus and area-wide effort that raised $28,000 which made one of Katie's dreams come true: riding with six-time Tour de France winner and fellow cancer survivor Lance Armstrong in his Ride for the Roses cancer fundraiser. Says Katie of Armstrong, "I like his attitude and his perseverance. I admire him for the way he dealt with his cancer, and his attitude: 'You know what, this isn't going to beat me!'" On 15 January 2005, 21-year-old Katie — the girl "with a contagious smile and unrelenting optimism" who had been battling cancer for three years — married Lapeer County sheriff's deputy Nick Godwin, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, at Church of Christ in Hazel Park, Michigan. Katie Kirkpatrick Godwin passed away at the McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan, on 20 January 2005, just five days after her wedding. Her husband, Nick, said of the wedding and Katie's passing: "It was wonderful. It was a dream come true. She was the most beautiful angel ever — just caring and selfless, and such an inspiration to everyone. She was always smiling no matter what happened, no matter what news she got. She was as close to perfect as they come." She did not let sickness stop her from living, take away the hope or faith that made her believe she had a future. She had a lovely wedding and she had love and she gave love and love doesn't die. And that is how Katie beat cancer. Additional photographs of Katie and her wedding can be viewed on the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) web site. NPPA: Best of Photojournalism 2006: Still Photography Winners: Enterprise picture story (Over 115,000 circulation) Katie's Spa in Lapeer, Michigan (a business which specializes in services to cancer patients), is named in Katie's memory, as is Katie's Wings, a non-profit organization established to help bring assistance to people affected by cancer. Sadly, the event that likely prompted circulation of this item in March 2009 was the death of Katie's father, David B. Kirkpatrick, who passed away that month after his own battle with cancer.

  5. I have to say Ethan is pretty common. I can't count how many Ethans I've seen in childcare. But it might be b/c I'm partial to Benton b/c Dr. Benton from ER. Haha I'm obsessed with that show. Plus I like unique names. My name is pretty unique. yeah I can't find my name on a key chain but I like being unique! And if it gets hard you can call him Ben!
  6. My wedding was on a Wednesday too. Though I got married right before Christmas so it wasn't hard for people to ask off. I just said suck it! haha just kidding. Really it's your wedding. Do what YOU want. I thought it was fine being in the middle of the week. I was on vacation! Who cares what day it is? You'll be fine...ignore the haters!
  7. I use to love this book as a kid. And they made it into a movie so I just had to share the trailer! YouTube - Where The Wild Things Are Trailer (HD)
  8. haven't watched the show but LOVED the books!
  9. dang I just referred 2 girls in one day but I forgot to give the link. Oh well they are excited and I am too! I get to go to 2 WEDDINGS!
  10. I just bought new bedding. Our old bedding was destroyed by our lovely cats. Now that we lock them out I wanted new bedding. So I bought this organic comforter on sale for 60 bucks! TOTAL STEAL! Anyways our bedroom was blue and brown but a more grayish blue. The new comforter is a brighter blue and the other side is brown. I have a giftcard so I want to buy new sheets to go. But I kinda want another color to throw in the mix. So I don't have to match it perfectly. And b/c blue and brown has become so friggin popular. And I've had it for a while. Thieves I was kinda thinking orange or green. I got the orange from this idea. This is the bedding I want if I ever get preggo. It's a variation on the brown and blue but putting an extra pop. What do you think? Do you think orange sheets would totally throw it off....or I was thinking of a green... Come on girls help me out! This is the bedspread the blue looks lighter in this picture its actually a little brighter in real life.
  11. Just came back from seeing Slumdog Millionaire. I LOVED it. I thought it was amazingly done and eye opening. I didn't like the people sitting behind me making fun of it. But it happens. Some movies I don't agree with winning so many Oscars. But this movie I think deserved every one. And that little boy is ADORABLE. I want to go to India and get him! Hahaha.
  12. Haha. Thanks girls! I love how you called her a cow Harty! I laughed. It's getting more dramatic. We haven't gotten served yet. He actually called 4 times trying to meet with us. And we've declined. He told us if we continue to employ the other 2 doctors he fired he will sue us. If we fire them then he won't. But we're thinking even if we do it will be something new next month. So we're just hanging on. We're meeting a lawyer tomorrow at 4. Ugh really some people have no life. Oh and nice tidbit....he went to the bank today and found out that the ex friend of ours isn't getting his money and even if he did it would go right back to the bank cause he still owes 150,000 on the office. So he knows he's losing money and grasping at anything he can. If you guys are still following I commend you!!!!

He's sueing for the breach of contract the non-compete clause. And yes he sent a letter out saying null and void March 1st. We don't understand either. We're calling lawyers and my boss (i just quit) is a paralegal so I'm about to call him. One lawyer said we could counter-sue b/c the wife is talking to patients and calling DH really bad names and such. So she's slandering us. It's really a mess. It's really just a vent right now unless anyone on here is a lawyer/paralegal.
  14. So a little background. The chiro my dh grew up with told them after they graduated that they should (3 guys) come work for him. So we came out here and it took him forever to get them in. We moved here in April last year. Started working maybe June? Then he drops the bomb shell he's having surgery will be out for like 5 months. Then another he's retiring and selling both practices. Theres 2. One in my DH's hometown where we live and one 20 miles in another town. So my DH goes to some financial advisors and lawyers and one he's selling for a ridiculous amount like half a million bucks and the other for like almost that. Neither are worth that much. So we decide it's too expensive and we'll open our own. Oh and our good friend buys the one in the hometown behind our back! He still hasn't talked to us. Anyways so we go get the loan do all this stuff. In the meantime as soon as we decide DH goes over and tells him. Says you know for me and my family we want to stay in my hometown and this is the best decision. The guy is fine with it. The next day however his wife is in talking trash about my DH. Not to mention the old receptionist decides to work for us b/c she needs stability. So the old DR closes the other office. But through all that he sends a letter saying "Your contract is null and void on March 1" We didn't open till after that date. He wrote it because his deal with our ex-friend was suppose to go through that day but it didn't. Does that matter? Anyways the receptionist at his office (who wants to quit and work for us) is telling this to us. Theres a clause in the contract that we won't open up in a certain distance and use his "Special techniques". But then we have the letter that it's null and void on March 1st. Are there any legal girls on here that can help me out. See this guy used to be nice till he married this word I won't use. As soon as she says something he does it. So I'm pretty sure its her idea. We just so don't need this now. I just quit my job for my mental health! And I can't believe our friend who my DH grew up with has just turned his back on us. He's been treating everyone like crap even his patients! What makes people do that! Anyways this is a total vent. I commend you if you even made it this far. We are just at a loss!
  15. Just went and saw this a few hours ago. I really liked it. I love scary movies though. My DH thought it was gory. But he doesn't love scary movies like me and hates gore. He said it was sad. I guess I see that too. Overall though I did like it. I'm going out with a friend on friday to see Slumdog Millionaire. I just saw the Reader which was AMAZING! But I lovvvvvvvve the book too. I read the book long before it was to be a movie. But Kate Winslet did awesome. I also just saw Boy in the Striped Pajamas another book that was good and the movie was spot on. And the last one I saw was the Changeling which I also loved. Guess I haven't seen any movies I hate lately! Hahaha...I love hearing suggestions on what to see though! I just rented Australia and Rachel Getting Married but haven't watched them yet. We shall see!

Good luck on your future ventures and I am incredibly sorry about your m/c. Thank you. You guys don't know how much it means to me. I've also thought of stress contributing. I try to destress but it just became too much. A mom in our library playgroup was telling me that when she worked in childcare she couldn't get pregnant and quit and became pregnant. She said childcare is a natural birth control. Haha. On another note have you ever had your coxis (tailbone) adjusted? I was just wondering. It is the strangest adjustment ever. Not bad though! I have to get mine adjusted too. Its funny how noone realizes it's out of wack. But mine aches! If you've never done it though let me know. If you have I want to hear how it goes.
  18. Thank you everyone! I did it yesterday. She already knew I think. She asked if I was happy and I started sobbing. I kept it short and just emotionally I cannot handle watching him every day. Good thing though is he already on a waiting list for a daycare. (She put him on when we were trying to figure out my pay a little while ago). Waiting lists are long here and not many nannies so I couldn't refer anyone to her. Her step-mom is going to take over. We're gonna transition me out and her in. I feel so much better. Thank you! We are majorly excited. He opened yesterday. It was ALOT of work. Painting, building and decorating. It looks awesome. I need to take pictures and post them. I didn't take before pictures which sucks. Thank you for thinking of him!
  19. I need some help. (And please no flames I already feel really bad.) I've been a nanny for 8 months. I have been in childcare for 11 years and I have burnt out. I can't do it anymore. A few weeks ago I had another miscarriage and they know this. I had to take a few days off. Since then it's been really hard to continue to watch him. Everytime he loves on me or hugs me or anything like that I burst into tears. Gah! There are some other issues that I'm not happy with but I don't want to tell them those and leave on a bad note. The other thing is I want to tell them today and have my last day be the 26th (3) weeks. My one boss is going out of town next week. So do you think that's bad. She'd have 2 weeks technically and he'd have 3. I just don't think I can hang on and wait 2 weeks and then give 2 weeks. KWIM? We just had a rough patch where they weren't paying me correctly and we fixed that and now this. But right now the stress from my job I'm carrying home and taking out on DH. Which is not fair to him and he's told me to quit and take some time. Theres some more things that make this really good for me to do (the commute and more time to spend) I haven't seen my DH in months due to us being busy. We just opened our own Chiropractic Practice (today is the grand opening )We get home and go to bed. My kitties are also being neglected. I feel horrible. Sorry for the rant. I just don't know how to tell them without dwelling too long. She has a stressful job (stock market) but I really can't wait for that to get better. I need to get better. Do I keep it short and sweet "Since my mc I just don't feel I'm caring for him as best as I am able" Or do I say all the reasons why. And is the time frame I'm giving them good? Acck I hate leaving nanny jobs. I've never quit or been fired so this is new. Please help!
  20. I'm on my iPhone so sorry if this post sucks. Today I'm wearing a white ribbon for gay marriage and thought I'd pass it along. You can go to WhiteKnot.org - Marriage Equality to learn more. Or you can just wear white. "Everyone should have the right to tie the knot. "
  21. I was going to say lubriderm too. I only used lubriderm on mine. I've heard people having reactions to the other stuff. And I have super sensitive skin and wasn't going to take the chance. My brother is the same and when using the a&d he had a reaction. I hope it clear up.
  22. Just saw this on MSNBC that they're back together....yikes... Rihanna and Chris Brown are back together - Entertainment- msnbc.com
  23. I tipped. They even had a sign that said "tipping is not a place in China" but before I went I called a friend who's dh is a tattoo artist and he said it's customary to tip.
  24. I did the civil ceremony (dec. 07) and he didn't say holy....I am NOT religious. I also added the sand ceremony and he read that fine for us too. I agree it would of been super short to just do the vows alone. I also didn't have the regular guy I see in everyone elses pictures. I still haven't seen him do anyone elses. Weird.

Are there fertility foods? Avocados....hahahaha...actually it is true Avocados are good for women's fertility and figs are for guys. I just make a sandwich and put them on it. It's funny you said the drunk comment. My DH accidentally told his brother that we were TTC and he said "Just get her drunk and do her in the backseat" gee thanks BIL. Now every time he sees us he asks if we've done it in the car yet? What is confusing you on FF I'm sure one of us can help you out on it.
