Oh my goodness Nibblet got old and white while I was away! It wasn't that long!
My TTD only lasted an hour but we just did it outside the hotel. I bought a cheaper TTD but like Kat said, the TTD dress was in better shape than my wedding gown when I got home!
I went to a wedding like this last year. I wore a tea length semiformal dress with a cute shrug for the ceremony. I took off the shrug for the reception. In between we toured the town since we were just driving in for the day and didn't have a hotel. We also grabbed a quick snack at another hotel lounge so my dress didn't look to out of place.
There are no minimum stay requirements to marry in PR. You will need to apply for a marriage license in PR which does require your birth certificate, id, and blood tests. The tests can be done on the mainland (no more than 14 days prior) but will need to be certified by a PR physician. Many of the wedding planners in PR can arrange this for you. You cannot get the paperwork prior to your arrival so you may need a stop of at least a day. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.
I was married in June at The Gallery Inn. I wouldn't recommend The Gallery but I love, love that we chose PR and did not find it to be any more expensive than other destination wedding locations.

Most of my guests stayed five days.
Monday-arrival no planned activities
Tuesday- welcome dinner
Wednesday-planned excursion, rehearsal dinner
Thursday-wedding day
Friday-planned excursion
Saturday-goodbye breakfast
We tried to give people time on their own to explore our location, which was not AI.
There is no way to change your arrival date? Having the policy waived in writing should be sufficient. I would keep all emails, obtain the written exception, and confirm, confirm, confirm! Everything will be fine
