  1. Congratulations and your pictures looked like you had a beautiful and fun wedding! Glad to hear everything turned out great and thanks for the advice on trying to enjoy all our time there and trying to relax! That suite is beautiful!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed we are able to get upgraded to that! Congrats again and welcome back!!!
  2. The beach reception is $50 per person (includes open bar, buffet dinner and set up) and we are having ours from 6:30 to 10:30 (hopefully 11ish). I believe the tiki torches will be supplied at no charge. There is a BBQ option but there is also another menu that has chicken and lamb and I think pork. I have them at work so will have to email them to you Monday. I'm still working on that portion of it. You can also upgrade to lobster for an extra $10 per person.
  3. The more pictures you post of your wedding the more excited I get for our wedding! I can't wait to dance in the sand! We are having our dinner and reception/dance on the beach and cannot wait! Why not take full advantage of the beach is what I say!! Did you find it very breezy at night on the beach? I'm just a little worried about our candles blowing out. No biggy if they do as I think Chandlyn said she would supply tiki torches.
  4. Your wedding looked AMAZING!!!! You looked very beautiful! Your pictures just confirmed that I am absolutely going with just the beach and cover that you went with. Nothing beats that beautiful ocean in the background!
  5. Hi! I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where I could order a t-shirt for my FI that says GAME OVER on it with a picture of stick people? Also, I've seen a few girls have ordered Jamaican Bride t-shirts...can I ask where you ordered those from? Thanks for your help!!!! I tried to search for this and nothing came up...am I "search" challenged?
  6. Welcome back and Congratulations on your wedding!!!! I'm so happy that everything went so well for you! It's so nice to hear great reviews like yours! I'm sure it eases everyone's minds...including mine!
  7. Hi Marlon! Looks like we are date twins! What time is your wedding at? We are at 3pm. Jocelyn

He nicely apologized and said that 2.75 for an order over 300 was as low as he was willing to go ... additionally, he said that he would not be able to do this in the future without a member of the group having a retailer ID or tax ID. His customers are primarily resellers who have become upset at sales being made to "end-users" at the wholesale price. The company is implementing a new ordering / tracking system that will require one of these ID numbers (that's why we need to get the order in ... before the new system goes into place!). The price for the pashs we're getting is about to increase to 4.50 per item wholesale! So - I think we're getting a pretty good deal! BUT --- I searched and searched for anything lower and couldn't find anything ... so, unless someone else knows of a resource - it's likely to be a cheap as you'll find them! I think this is a great deal and really appreciate all your effort looking into this and handling the order and money, etc.!!!! Can you please confirm with a new post once you have placed the final order? Thanks again!!!!!
  9. Hi Trish! Thank you girls so much for taking this on for all of our benefits! Can I please change my order from 10 fushia to the following: 10 fushia, 10 ivory and 5 light green. Thank you!
  10. Your wedding looks fabulous! Your dress is gorgeus and you looked great! Did you bring those chair sashes with you? Also, just curious to know if you liked having the steel drum band for your ceremony? What songs did they play as you walked up the aisle? Everything looks very nice!
  11. Would another option to do an email money transfer? I know that works well here in Canada...
  12. I'm glad I caught this thread! I also live in Canada and wonder if that will be a problem? Please let me know, if it is too much hassle for everyone then I'll pass... If not I would be interested in the bulk order... 10 - IS00FS (fushia) Who will we need to pay for these? Our wedding date is April 10, 2008 in Jamaica. Thanks! Jocelyn
  13. I emailed Chandlyn our notarized documents and she said that was fine. I'd be curious to know if she really does prefer the hard copies mailed. That would be a major problem if I didn't get those out! Yikes! :-)
  14. Yay!! Thank you for your post! We are spending our first week and getting married at RIU Ocho Rios, but for our honeymoon we just booked 4 nights at Couples Swept Away and 3 nights at Rockhouse. It's great to know that we made the right decision...almost makes me wonder if we should have booked the whole second week there for the honeymoon
  15. We stayed at the Bahia Principe this past April. While booking we knew it was still under construction and the price reflected that. We thought the hotel was beautiful and the food was good for an all inclusive. The night we got there someone was having their wedding reception at the snack bar which is open air with a thatched roof and it looked beautiful! I think the resort has had its growing/start up pains which you will see if you look at trip advisor. There is lots of beach but it is quite hard packed. I think it would be worth checking out but I would make sure they are done all their construction...if that might bother you. Oh I forgot to mention they do have a really nice gazebo on the rocky side of the beach overlooking the water. Although the only thing with the gazebo is the space in front is quite slanted so if your wedding is bigger it might be hard to put many chairs there. The pool area is very nice as well with a couple of swim up bars. Good luck with your decision! I know its hard to choose...
  16. Looks like you had a beautiful and fun wedding! You looked gorgeus! Did they make that awesome cake at the resort for you? Everything looked fantastic!
  17. Pink and green are popular colors! Those are mine as well - ivory, with accents of hot/fushia pink and green! We sent out save the dates earlier and we just sent out our invitations last week. Not sure if the save the dates were necessary. People went to look at the webpage but didn't really help in booking everyone faster. Although now our flight is apparently limited on seating so we are having to call people and let them know the sooner they book the better.
  18. That's a great idea Davina! I may use it! Chandlyn got back to me and we can also use a tv and dvd player. We may go with that...not the best but better than paying $350. Quote: Originally Posted by DLyteful Ok….how many guests are you going to have and then how many tables do you think you would have Another idea (if you are going to have a small guest list) is possibly having a little portable DVD player on each table (or at different sections of the table if it’s a long rectangle) and having a copy playing on each DVD player. The DVD’s are battery operated so you wouldn’t have to worry about the power supply… the battery should last for a couple of hours so your guests could watch the slid show while at the reception dinner at their leisure. Everyone has portable DVD player’s theses days, And I’m sure a lot of people plan to bring theirs on the long plane ride, so everyone who has one could just loan theirs…(and a dependable, younger cousin, niece/nephew, could be given the very special job of ensuring all the DVD players are accounted for and up and ready to play the slid show).
  19. I think the standard cake will work for us too...nice that they added orchids for you! It's really nice to know that it tasted good though!

You could just connect your camcorder, portable DVD, laptop, or whatever to the TV and have in running while you have your mixer in the suite…. I think I saw some where on here that someone had a little gathering in their room and the resort brought up drinks at no additional cost. Just an idea, I’ll keep thinking about the BIG PICTURE (at the reception) :-) That's a great idea too... if all else fails. Another option I was thinking of is if they have a tv and dvd player that can be moved to our reception. Not optimal viewing but bigger than my laptop anyways.

Right now we are thinking of having dinner at Mammee Bay because I think we'll have less than 50 people and then we have the disco reserved for our reception/first dance/slideshow after dinner.

I have sent Chandlyn a couple of emails and did actually throw out to her the idea of maybe buying one as an investment for future weddings. If she doesn't go for that I'll ask her if we could split the rental costs....if you are really interested in it that is. I don't know if she'll go for that either because there are a few days between us and I don't know how their rental would work. I'll let you know how my conversations go with her!
  23. We are getting married at RIU Ocho Rios and staying there for a week with family and friends and then we plan on spending a second week for our honeymoon in the Negril area. We haven't decided for sure but are thinking of spending three nights at The Rockhouse or Catcha Falling Star and then 4 nights at Couples Swept Away. This isn't booked yet though because we're not sure if we want all the travel time...although we're not really sure how far it would be to go from one place to the next. Rockhouse and Catcha falling star sound so amazing with your own little bungalow on the cliffs, but I'm afraid we'd get bored if we spend a whole week there. We kind of like to be entertained:-) Jocelyn
