I have been worrying about the same thing. I hadn't thought of peoples coats etc. being in the overhead compartment. I am flying with 10 friends so I'm sure they will help me figure it out. I agree, I'll hold it if I have too!!! hahaha

Welcome! This is the BEST forum. Everyone is so nice and the amount of information you will find is amazing. I'm so excited, I haven't come across anyone else getting married at Grand Lido, Negril. Darryl and I are getting married there on February 25th. I look forward to sharing information with you!!!

Go for it! We're having a Jack & Jill (same thing) about 3 weeks before the wedding. I didn't realize until reading all this that it is a "Canadian thing". (This forum is GREAT!!) We had reservations in the beginning for the same reasons as discussed throughout this thread but in the end our friends and family convinced us that it was the only way everyone could really celebrate with us. We only have 14 going with us to the DW and we do not want to have a shower or anything like that. We plan to help with prizes, food, set up, etc. and I agree that anyone who is paying to join us in Jamaica will not be paying to attend the J&J. We plan to give those people a few free drink tickets as well. We are also paying for a live band to play at the J&J so it should make for a really great party. We are hoping to make enough to help cover the private dinner cost. Since the majority of our guests are staying at other resorts, we have to pay for day passes onto the resort which aren't cheap. Every little bit helps!!!

My bridesmaids and I are supposed to be making our own Sat. night..... I will post pics if they turn out great. If not.... I'll post pics of the ones we buy. hahahaha

I'm thinking about having it attached to my ankle, that way it would be hidden by my dress anyway. Just a thought.

I almost bought a dress that was around $500. I liked it and thought it would do.... then when I was out looking for a headpiece I found this other dress. I LOVED it immediately. The lady in the store told me to try it on..so I did. I couldn't believe it, I knew it was my dress even though is was $1150 plus tax. I guess it's different for everyone. I'd keep looking though, for the cost of the changes you want on top of the cost of the dress, you could more than likely find one you LOVE for less money. Maggie

Hi all, Darryl and I booked at Grand Lido, Negril (Feb.23, 200 and can't wait. It's a little pricey, I agree!!! But.... we decided that for this one and only time we'll splurge for our wedding. I'm happy to hear someone else considered it, I was thinking I was the only one!!! haha We picked Jamaica for the same reasons as everyone else stated, easy requirements, beautiful beaches, nightlife etc. etc. I haven't been anywhere in over 12 years so I am really anxious. We have a friends going along but only one other couple will be staying at our resort. Everyone else booked further down the beach b/c they didn't want AI. This is my small dilema...I don't know whether I should still do welcome bags or not I won't see everyone until the wedding day and I don't want to make people carry the bags around at the wedding. We are paying for day passes for everyone for the day of the wedding (and a private dinner if we end up with more than 10 guests) and we would like to pay for one excursion for everyone to get together later in the week. Any thoughts on the gift bags issue Maggie

Hi, I am considering a Sandals wedding (Negril) so I have been in touch with wedding coordinators this week too. I have a package that was emailed to me and it says that you can have a private dinner (if you have more than 10 guests) for $50 US per person. Or the reception and dinner (which looks fantastic) for $75 per person. It sounds like you may have a lot of guests so that may not be very cost effective. I'm on the other end of the scale where we may only have 4-6 in total and the wedding coordinator for Negril didn't seem very helpful. I really want to go to Sandals but I'm not sure I want to deal with that particular coordinator....sigh..... wedding stress. Isn't that why we planned a wedding away To alleviate the stress? hahahaha If you need more information or want to talk to another coordinator just for basic info, my first Sandals contact was Darma and she was FANTASTIC. I considered moving my wedding location just to deal with her. She is fast to reply and very easy to deal with. She emailed me yesterday that she is being transferred to one of the Ocho Rios Sandals but Darryl and I really want Negril. Here's her email address. Congratulations!! Your pictures are wonderful. Sorry to hear about the photographer. I agree, they seem really pricey for what you get. I have so many questions for you. My fiance and I are deciding between Sandals Negril or Grand Lido Negril for our wedding in February. Darryl insists that I have had enough time and wants to book this week...AHHHH.... Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. How did you find Sandals staff for handling your wedding? Did it turn out that you had to pay for a lot of extras on top of what they offer as their "free wedding". Was it a problem getting passes for guests to come to Sandals for your wedding day. How long were they allowed at the resort? I believe the passes are about $150 US each, correct? What sort of dinner did you arrange for you and your guests? I read that they only offer dinner for the bride and groom but we want to have dinner with everyone and then head somewhere on site for dancing and celebrating. I'm confused as well because I thought meals were all included....so why isn't dinner included for everyone?? I have SOOOO many questions........ I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure it all out. Hi all, I've never joined any forum before..... tips are most welcome!! Darryl and I are getting married in Jamaica, Negril on February 23 (Date to be confirmed). We are having a heck of time deciding on the resort but plan to book by the end of this week. We are torn between Grand Lido, Negril and Sandals, Negril. Our friends don't want to stay at either because of the price and are looking for cheaper options. Any suggestions? We will just get everyone day passes to the resort ($$$$). Sigh... I have now discovered that I can't please everyone....or anyone at this moment. hahahaha Maggie
