  1. Jackie, you look so beautiful and happy and GREAT song choice! Congrats on getting your slide show back and being able to enjoy it! Are you going to wait till your wedding date to give him the photos?

Now I'm wondering if it was shorter and I just didn't realize it. Hmm, I'll have to ask someone who may have been more aware of time. Just asked Sean and he says it was more like 20-25 but still not sure exactly how long.

Our guests loved them and they added such a romantic and cultural aspect to the cocktail hour. They actually played canon D when I walked down the aisle, just confirm with them that that's what you want.
  4. Welcome to the forum Jamie!
  5. Welcome to the forum! If you've just started planning your wedding, you'll need to get organized with a list of what your ideal wedding will have and what your resort can offer. Ask your WC at the resort for ideas or a list of what she needs for you to get her (eg, colors, # of guests, civil or religious ceremony, music, etc...). For centerpieces, since you're having the reception on the beach as well, they'll probably advise you to use hurricaines around the candles if you are set on using candles to try to retain the flame against the wind. Good luck and happy planning!
  6. We had a civil ceremony there at Dreams (well, the Mexican judge's standard, not sure how widely used it is) and we actually really liked the verbage (attached) they had standardized and it lasted roughly 30 minutes (including our Moms doing a unity candle ceremony in the middle) which was good for us. If the traditional additions that you want mean that much to you both, I say just let the officiant know that you want it to be part of your ceremony and go with it. good luck! WEDDING CEREMONY2.doc
  7. This is so thoughtful of you to do for your friend and she (as well as her husband) will be so appreciative for sure. I love the photo book layout.
  8. Ok, speaking from experience I can say that we were looking around in Cabos as well and agreed that Dreams was the place for us for many reasons (eg, all-inclusive, pics of the place were stunning, outdoor reception areas, Gazebo is beautiful with ocean as background, on-site coordinator had great reviews and it could accomodate our group) and I'd recommend the resort for a wedding in a heart beat. We were luckily the only wedding on our wedding day there and we had ours on a Sunday and the other days we were there, there was only one wedding a day so call it luck but it worked out nicely for all the weddings I saw there including ours. The day before our wedding, there was a wedding with a group of about 150. That being said, they can accomodate large or small groups. Our guests payed about $1200 a piece for 4 nights including air fare, resort and transportation. Desire looks interesting in theory but it's a different kind of 'adults only' resort in that the pictures on their site include older men in thongs and topless voleyball. Sooo, yeah, fun but not exactly family-friendly wedding resort. That's my two cents. Happy planning!
  9. Holy cow! I wasn't expecting such a big difference when I read 16 lbs but whoa Mama! You look awesome! Congrats on sticking to whatever it is you're doing because it sure is working and you look great in that dress!

    hey girls

Welcome to the forum! Cool date selection!
  11. Welcome to the forum! Good to know there's a Dreams Punta Cana now. Happy planning!
  12. Welcome to the forum Dana! If I'm not mistaken, most flights from other states to MX usually have layovers via Dallas (I know our guests did) so your guests should have no problem finding some economical flights far enough in advance flying out of there. Congrats on your recent engagement!
  13. Welcome to the forum Lindsay! You're gonna find tons of great info on Los Cabos on this forum! Happy Planning!
  14. Welcome to the forum Nick! I'm pretty partial to Cabos but regardless, you'll find plenty of great info on all your options on this forum. Happy Planning!
  15. These pictures are so touching! You all looked gorgeous and very happy and natural, which makes the pictures that much more meaningful. Congratulations! Oh and I LOVE that dress on you!
  16. 2, 3 and 4 are my favorites. you look so old Hollywood glamorous and truly beautiful! Good for you for doing this and again, you really look great!
  17. Depending on your cup size I'd say just have some cups sewn in if possible. I went and bra shopped for a while and found the perfect bra for my halter style dress... then I ended up not packing it and it drove me nuts in the 20 minutes before my wedding (panic mode is not fun) but really, I didn't need it in the end. Point of my rambling... If you can do without it in a dress that holds you in, don't stress yourself over it. Good luck!
  18. I second the advise of getting properly fitted for running shoes at a specific runner's retail store depending on your step. I ran a half marathon last year and it was the best running experience of my life. Sounds dramatic but man, after completing a personal goal like that and feeling like you put in your all is priceless! I found a training schedule on runwashington.com for a half marathon but I'm sure you can find others online. Stick to moderate runs about 3 to 4 times a week and a long run on the weekend and you'll build up your stamina. If this is your first half-mari, then just go for keeping up your stamina and eventually (for future runs) work on your speed. The energy gel packs they give you at later mile point checks are awesome for upping your energy levels so definitely take them up on that (if you don't already stock up to have in your pockets for energy lulls). Good luck and enjoy!
  19. ((pounding heart area)) Wow, thanks gals! Affirmation is way under-rated and color me appreciative! I would do this again in a heartbeat and it was so nice to see that his reaction was all that I had hoped for and more. Thanks again! ps - I encourage any btb to go out on a limb and do this if so inclined because it's such a gift to yourself as much as for your hubby to be.
