  1. So..back to the DJ thing. I heard back from Kim from PSAV Presentation Services (the DJ service Dreams must use). He said that we would be able to send him a list of songs we'd like played at the reception. If they didn't have the song on file, they'd get it for us, no problem. He also said their DJ was an MC, and we'd be able to meet at the resort before the wedding to go over details. I think I'm going to go for it. What do you gals think about the lighting part? Package #1 ($800) is for 4 hours, no lighting. Package #2 ($1250) includes fixed lighting. Package #3 ($1550) adds robotic lamps. I don't know much about lighting. What do you think? Also will 4 hours be enough? I'm thinking ceremony will be at 4:00 with a couple of group pics afterward, cocktail hour 5:00-6:00 (with Mariachis....I think)...dinner at 6:30. Music has to stop at 11:00? Is that right?
  2. Thanks Amy...Karla's pics have convinced me. Talk about a beautiful wedding and a gorgeous couple. I loved her flowers. Do you know if she still posts?
  3. I know I'm super late, but someone else just directed me to this thread. I was thinking about doing fuschia calla lilies for my bridal bouquet. Now that I've seen your pics, I am convinced. I must say, I think that is the most gorgeous wedding I have ever seen. And you and your hubby are BEAUTIFUL couple! Hope married life is treating you well. If you don't mind me asking...do you remember appox. what you paid for you bridal and BM bouquets.
  4. So I know some of you ladies are fabulous with flowers. I first saw this bouquet on another thread and was drawn to it by the color. My BM dresses are a tourquoise color, and I was thinking fuschia flowers would look nice. What about for my bouquet though? Is it too loud? Should I mix in some other flowers? I am going for a tropical feel.
  5. I think I must have spent nearly an hour watching the videos on Paul's site. I admit, I was brought to tears (of joy) on several occasions. I think that's enough to convice me I have e-mailed him about our wedding date, and hope to hear back soon! Thanks so much... your wedding was gorgeous, and you were definitely the belle of the ball
  6. The invites look great. I'm also doing my own and using pocketfolds. Are you doing both an inner and outer envelope? I kinda thought I could skip the inner envelope, because the pocketfold sorta serves the same purpose.
  7. Personal touches are what make a wedding memorable... go for it!
  8. Sounds like it was absolutely perfect!
  9. Heidi...I will talk to my aunt and let you know ASAP
  10. My aunt and uncle love Belize, and one resort in particular. I don't know the name of it at the moment, but they have stayed there several times. When they returned from their latest stay, my aunt raved about a wedding they ended up sort of being a part of. The resort is definitely "intimate". She thought they were the only ones there that weren't with the wedding. I think she estimated between 50-60 guests. If Belize sparks your interest, send me a PM (private message). I can get more details from my aunt, and possibly some pics. I think this place would be perfect for what you're lookinng for. Intimate...and with potential to be "rented out"!

Hi... I'm just across the border in WI. Glad you found this place....it's awesome (and rather addicting)!
  12. My aunt and uncle absolutely love Belize. They have been going every year for the last 4-5 yrs. I know they have stayed at a lot of great places. They recently got back from their last trip, and my aunt raved about a wonderful wedding they saw. They were at a smaller, more intimate location (maybe around 50 rooms). She said they were pretty much the only ones that weren't there for the wedding. She seemed to think it was the perfect place for a wedding. Let me know if you want more details. I can talk to her and find out more...maybe even get some pics! Also, a co-worker of mine is getting married in Jamaica in April. I'll find out the location, and get more details. Good luck!

You're definitely in the right place. This is a great forum. The girls here have been amazing. Too bad we're spread all over the country. It would be so much fun to actually be able to get together. I think they know more about my wedding than my MOH!
  14. Glad you've joined! It's a great place to be!
  15. Welcome LeShay! I joined the site about 3 weeks ago, and am officially hooked. Everyone goes out of their way to help each other out. I'm sure for whatever kind of question you have, someone will have the answer
  16. Congrats! We too are planning on tying the not legally in the US before heading to Mexico. It seems like less of a hassle...plus now you'll have two anniversaries to celebrate!!
  17. I think my FI and his GM are going to wear light-weight, tan-color suits, with no tie. I love this look for a DW. Most ceremonies are on the short side, and they won't have to be in the jacket for long. Plus, having your skin covered up actually keeps you cooler...especially in a light color. Hence, many outdoor laborers wear white, long sleeve shirts.

    Hi all!

I have to agree with Tammy...while a lot of people are comfortable with "winging" it, I think site visits really help. And it sounds like you have some time with a late '08-'09 wedding date in mind. My FI and I were vacationing at Dreams Cancun (before we were engaged) and saw a wedding while we were there. We loved everything about the resort, and knew that's where we wanted to get married. I feel so much more comfortable knowing first hand what a great place it is. So after some initial research, if you have the opportunity, I'd say definitely do a site visit...and get a vacation out of it as well!
  19. A couple of couples that we know recently vacationed in DR and loved it. And, I know April is a beautiful month to be in the Carribbean. That was my original choice for a date...but we just couldn't pull it off that fast (we were in engaged in Jan. and have lots of friends and family that are coming). While I'm glad so many guests want to come, I have to admit, part of me wishes it were just the two of us and a few select friends and family. Like you said...he's the love of your life, and that's all your really need. I like the idea of a very intimate ceremony...you can always have a party when you get back home!
  20. You are in the right place! Everyone is so helpful and always looking out for each other. Welcome.
  21. Thanks for the recommendation. I will definitely get in contact with him. We know that we would like a videographer...and one was included in our package with Dreams Cancun, but I wasn't sure if I should use their videographer or go with an outside vendor. It's always good to hear from someone who had a positive experience.

We just didn't need a lot of what was offered in the larger packages and we are going to have ~80 ppl, so we went with the "free" one and customized it from there. Susan - I just got my contract for the wedding and Claudia charged me $1000 for the dj for 4 hours (and the cocktail hour if it was going to be held in the same location as the reception). I wonder if it is the same company and she just automatically gave us the lowest package. Did you get a website from the company that you have the price quotes from? Also...any of you girls have the prices for the lower level bouquets. I have prices for the VIP ones, but none for the others. I was wondering what the price difference is (VIP bouquets are no where near the $60-90 Claudia originally quoted) The DJ company sent me a list of their packages (I will attach). The cheapest package is $800, and the next (which adds stationary lighting) is $1250. I'm sure her quote was for the lowest package. I wonder why the extra $200. Interesting. I did not get a website from the company, but there is an e-mail address and phone #. I sent out an e-mail yesterday with a few questions about song choice. I want to be able to send a list of songs to be played. I also wanted to know if the DJ was an MC, and if we could meet a few days ahead of time to go over a some details. I will let you know what I find out. As for the flowers...I have pictures of the lower level bouquets, but not prices (I went with a package that includes the bouquet). I also have a price list for the VIP bouquets, but no pictures. Do you have pics of the VIPs? I wasn't thrilled with any of the basic bouquets. I have found a few examples of bouquets I love. I thought about getting a price quote from a local florist, and then sending a pic to Claudia to see what her quote is. Random question....can someone explain how to put pictures right into a post? 23. I do not have a TA. What do they all help with? What is the charge? I feel like I'm in the dark about this. Help
  24. I never thought about having to ask the airline co. if the dress could be carried on. I just assumed it wouldn't be a problem. Guess I better double check. I know one thing...there's no way I'm checking it!!!!
  25. The rings are beautiful! I know it's hard to go without your ER. My ring is about 1/2 size too big, but I haven't been even able to bring myself to give it up for a few days to get it adjusted. The only time I take it off is in the shower. I have nightmares of it flying off and tumbling down the drain. Our wedding is still 6 months away, and I'm already itching to look at WBs!
