Now I'm just freaking out about how much we have to do in the next 28 days before we leave! I was making mental lists laying in bed at 5 this morning.... awww - you will get it done no prob Bre! Hang in there!! quick question though - what do you mean by 'updated files'? what is that?
  2. Since the new contract does not get into specifics - it should be okay to sign the new contract, as the WC has it in an email that they will honor their previous agmt. However, if you are uncomfortable with that - just ask them to make a revision to the contract incorporating the previous agmt.
  3. Fantastic job Bre - you handled that perfectly! Although, I don't think you should have had to handel that at all. Regardless - you are getting what you want - so that is all that matters!!
  4. oohh - I love it! I also love the detailing, and I love the back where it is gathered. I think it looks fantastic already, but with the alterations you mentioned - it will be fantastic! congratulations
  5. thanks so much for the kind comments ladies!! Lauren - it is actually a 1 piece, although from the front does look like it would be a 2 piece doesn't it?!
  6. I went for my first dress fitting yesterday - and I was so exicited! I chose my dress back at the begining of July - and I was starting to question whether it was right for me. I got a call from the store back about a month ago - but I didn't have time to go. (the dress shop is in my home town Calgary - but I am living a couple of hours away.) for the last month I had almost talked myself into thinking this was not it but....after seeing the dress, which fit almost perfectly - I knew that it was 100% the dress for me!! and I have been thinking about nothing else since!! I am so exicted to see it again edit: ok sorry they are small - but if you click on the pic that will take you to another page where the pic is larger - no idea why it does that?!
  7. You've signed a contract - so it is a done deal. I would tell them that you think it is very unprofessional and won't sign it. See what they say. That's bull crap How exactly is the new term phrased?
  8. I had no idea about this. I'm also working with Lomus Travel who is the WC but I am NOT using them for travel. I guess I better make that strictly clear.
  9. you know I am feeling the exact same right now too! I have 2 exams next week and 1 the following...it does suck - but you are right, this is the last time you will have to go through this - and it will be worth it in the end! hang in there!
  10. haha! Yes Morgan your right! the 'whales' are the large sandbags that are in the water along the beach line. They were put there a few years after Hurrican Ivan(??) because alot of the beach was eroded, and this will help prevent further erosion of both the beach and the ocean floor.

No misinfo - your right!! Well I haven't been personally, but based off of everything I have read, it is because of the 'whales' that there is actually better snorkling around EDR. So if snorkling is important - this should be a major plus for EDR over another resort! It is a great advantage to the 'whales'!
  12. Congratulations!! May you have a magical day that is just perfect!! Cant wait to hear all about it!

EDR and EDSS weddings are coordinated through the same company: Lomus so the policy will be the same. The policy is either $500 or the photographer has to stay 2/3 nights at the resort.
  15. Here are a couple: Mayan Riviera Hotel Map : TravelYucatan.com Cancun, Mexico, hotels and tourist Information Good luck!
  16. yeah!! it finally worked!!! those are amazing!! congratulations to you and your beautiful bride!! couple of my favs are: the one with your wife's feet peeking out from her crinolin and the one where you are wearing your wife's veil can't wait to hear ALL about everything!! (don't hold out too long on us )
  17. This is what Valeria said in her email: (talking about both White Gazebo & Gazebo 55) Both Locations are 3 mins walking away from the bathrooms, but I would recommend The White Gazebo. She recommended the White Gazebo b/c Gazebo 55 is on the far end of the resort and far away from everything else.
  18. It looks just stunning! Fantastic photos Jill! ps where did you go for the TTD then if you couldn't go to Tulum?
  19. I hate when there is conflicting answers!! When I asked how far away bathrooms were from the White Gazebo and from the Gazebo 55 (when I was deciding between the 2 a couple weeks ago) Valeria said that they were equal walking distance - and they weren't that far. When I asked about having La Isla a few months ago - she told me that you needed to have 64 inhouse (ie actually staying at the resort) guests to be able to reserve it.
  20. Hi! You know - I have been going attempting to deal with this same problem. 1. The Covered Pool is right beside the place where the have the main entertainment every night. However that entertainment usually doesn't start until 10. I was initially told that it holds up to 80 people, however it only does certain events (like cocktails, but did not do sit down dinner events or Buffets). However I was recently told that these events can be held in the Covered Pool, but it is only available as a Rainout option. (see KiteSurf Bride's recent review - she had her reception in the Covered Pool) I tried to get the Covered Pool (since Tucanes is no longer available-someone else is using it that night and T=the WC confirmed that there is no way I can have my reception there unless it rains (I tried ) It could be windy-being right beside the water, however, I was wondering if they would move the location if it was too windy?! As for the bugs-at this time of year (being a little bit cooler in the evenings), you would likely have a small issue with bugs, anywhere you had the reception - even at Tucanes or the Covered Pool - since they are open air. But if you were to pickup some Off Wipes - you should be fine! 2. So, I am currently having my reception at the White Gazebo area - I have the same concerns, however there isn't any other option. People walking around will be alittle fun, considering you will be on sand - but I guess that is the fun of having it on the beach! You can get a dance floor though if you want (I think it is about $500). You can also get a tent - which I thought would be kinda ugly - but it is actually very cute - however it doesn't look like it offers much shelter (just basically a top with poles) so you may want to ask your WC about that. The other place you could have yours, on the beach, is Gazebo 55. I love this location - and would have chosen this as my reception site, however (1) it is all the way at the end of the resort, rather then in the middle - so it could be highly inconvenient if anyone has to run to their room; (2) this is where my ceremony location is - which is fine, but the reception tables & decoration will be set up right beside the ceremony site during the ceremony. (well depending on what time your ceremony is. reception is to be set up 4 hours in advance) I think that is all the info I have. Good luck on choosing! Let me know what you end up choosing - or if you find out anymore info!
  21. Love Love both your BM dresses and your new dress! can't wait to see you in it!

Also, can some of you share some details about your welcome dinners or parties since my coordinator is MIA? Please include costs if you don't mind! Hey! this is who took over being my wedding coordinator: Valeria Martinez <[email protected]> Maybe try her! She has been awesome about getting back to me. As for welcome events-I don't think I am doing anything planned. I will just set up a time and a place on the resort for the guests to come and mingle. but I remember pricing out the Mexican cocktail - and I believe it was $22/person. There are definitly other options but I believe that was the cheapest option.
  24. Hi Ladies! There is a sticky thread in the top of this forum that has a bunch of slideshows from various weddings in the Mayan. There are quite a few on EDR and one on EDSS. They would be great for you, Rebecca to look at for questions relating to the wedding. But they are also great to get a feel of the resort. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t4276 Have you guys both checked out tripadvisor for their reviews on the resort? I found that really helpful in choosing between my top 4 resorts (EDR, EDSS, excellence and Royal PDC)? In general this is what I have gathered: EDSS is smaller, less restaurants and pooler, but I understand is more relaxed and laid back then EDR. and is located past Playa del carmen, by I think about 25 minutes. EDSS does not do as many weddings as EDR EDR, is bigger, has more selection for rooms, including the Casitas, has more restaurants and pools. Although this is still a very relaxing resort (definitly not a party resort) it has a little more happening in the evening then EDSS. and is located about 10/15 minutes north of Playa Both resort's wedding coordinators are from the same company: Lomus Travel - so you can expect to have pretty much the same choices and experiences from that end. Let me know if you have any more questions! Happy planning
