That is so cute!! I was recently looking at my grandparents wedding photos too! My Nan wore something very similiar to your grandma too! My grandparents got married in London during the Blitz (Nan was britsh, grandpa was a canadian farm boy), Nan said that on her walk to the Hall she passed a couple of houses who were bombed to bits the night before (can you imagine?) anyways thanks for sharing! I love seeing old pictures like that

Wowsers there will be alot of us down there around the same time! either overlapping or just missing each other:) I haven't been to the resort, but based on what I have seen - I don't think the white gazebo will be the most private location you can have. That being said, I would imagine that by 5, most people who would be out in the sun all day would be heading inside for a nap or to start getting ready for dinner. I'm getting married at Gazebo 55 - which I *think* may be a bit more private since it is at one end of the resort. and I've heard the new spot down at the opposite end, by the casitas, is supposed to be pretty private. Good luck deciding!! and I'm also another bride who has changed alot! the wedding location 1, but the reception location (yikes!) 4 times Valeria is great about it!!

Married in DR, Divorce in DR??
MrsV-to-be replied to newfiebride's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
As I understand it, you don't have to go back to DR to get a divorce. You can get a divorce in Canada - so long as the marriage was valid in DR, according to DR law. (otherwise Canada won't recognize the marriage) -

I am not sure of the additional 15 people though (I will let you know the first week in March when we get back from the wedding! I was told that this opens to the beach and there is an area alongside the pool that opens up from the Health bar and we would have all of this space. We will see!!! that would be great if you could post the pictures! Thanks so much!!

Hey! good to see you back here!! 2 quick questions for you: (1) Do you have any pics of the new wedding gazebo or can you describe it a bit more? Would it sit up to 55 people? are there many whales around it? Does it have any greenery!! (2) the Health bar location. I was never offered this. Do you think it would accomodate a group of say 55 for a buffet dinner and then dancing afterwards. by any chance do you have any pics of the health bar? Thanks so much!

They are my friends at work and i see them more than most of my other friends...they hear all about my wedding planning etc...and I guess I would feel weird talking about my shower to them and not inviting them. If they couldn't come then I wouldn't care. I guess I never thought about it the other way. I wouldn't be inviting them for gifts... So maybe it was really innocent and they just didn't want it to be awkward not inviting you? I don't know...maybe I shouldn't invite co-workers to the shower now. Yikes! Sorry, I know I didn't help! I completely understand your rationale. First, I think in this circumstance due to the short notice it is in bad taste. However, I don't necessairly think it is always in bad taste to invite someone to a shower where you did not invite them to a wedding. My 2nd cousin had a very small wedding with only immediate family and very close friends, however the whole family was invited to the shower. I did not see anything wrong with this. I think a destination wedding could, in some cases, fall under this rationale as well. Though, if you are inviting all of your aquaintences that you have in your address book to the shower - and did not invite any of them to your wedding - that would most definitly be tacky.

What is a wine bath? title sounds good but what does it exactly entail?

EDR Day Passes?
MrsV-to-be replied to MrsV-to-be's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site

Though they can probably kinda tell who is not staying there as a guest, because they probably walk in with uncertainity or whatever. I would also guess they could tell if they don't have a resort towel. and I guess they can always ask what room number! However, I think there is system is definitly not perfect and there is probably alot of room for sneakiness!! -

Thanks you Yes it is coming...a little too quickly! -
I know this really sucks but on the bright side - they are allowing you to have excess weight! I believe there are some charters that have no excess weight allowed. I'm in the same position (I haven't heard which charter I'm flying with as I booked with Signature) but I would rather be in the position where they charge me an arm and a leg then not allow any excess!! My only suggestion is to beg borrow any space in anyone's bag. I'm planning on asking each family group to take something in particular. Ie, I am asking FI's aunt & her family to take all the fans amongst themselves. and I am asking his other aunt to take centre piece decorations etc. Good Luck!!

EDR Day Passes?
MrsV-to-be replied to MrsV-to-be's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
This is the response I got from the resort: Hello Jennette, Thank you for your email, I apologize for the delay. In regards to day passes, they allow you to use all the facilities and features our hotels have. There are no restrictions of what restaurants to eat or anything like that. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Have a great day and hope you have a great trip.
