  2. just wanted to say hi to the KS gal! and right now im paying more for tickets to cabo than to cancun! im trying to figure that one out.
  3. elizabeth what a great wedding! fernando told us the property was going to have the fairmont, the rosewood and the viceroy resorts on it. im interested to see the viceroy too as the ones in palm springs and santa monica are so awesome! and i have wedding at a fairmont in cali this year. glad to see thats a nice place as well. the pics of the bride in the boat are great!!! what a fun and unique wedding. hope all is well with you elizabeth!
  4. it is amazing. i have stayed at las ventanas before and i think this place might even top it. tulio took us into one of the lagoon suites which is the most basic one they have. gorgeous!!! rooftop lounge area. private little pool on the deck. the bathtub is to die for. indoor and outdoor shower. the service at rosewood resorts is superb! and when you arrive at the mayakoba they take you to your suite on a boat through the lagoon!!! thats fernando driving the boat. he gave us about an 1/2 tour of the place and took us to one of the 3.5 million dollar residences they have for sale and gave us a tour. it was featured in architectural digest last fall. really i promise you cant go wrong with this place.
  5. hey ladies just thought id share some pics from the rosewood mayakoba. i stopped by there when i was in RM for a wedding last week. this place is the bomb! the staff and service unbelievable. we werent even staying there and they gave us a tour and took us in a suite. there are pics on my blog but i will post them here too in case you dont want to go there. if you dont know rosewood resorts are the chain that owns las ventanas in cabo. how nice they have a counterpart in riviera maya now!!!! even if you dont consider it for a wedding it would be a great honeymoon spot. recently tom and katie stayed there.
  6. i have this too from being out in the sun shooting weddings. what did your dr prescribe? i have lustra-AF. it helps some. as does microderm and glycolic facials. i think im going to go ahead and do something like laser soon.
  7. just gorgeous heidi! you looked so beautiful and happy. your hubby looks like that hottie from the english patient. kip! great job robin.

Often this gives them great power they can see into people with their immense intuition. Very passionate in everything they do, often thought of as the sexual sign. Scorpio carries this intensity into everything they do. Scorpio can inspire fear or awe in others because of their often-overwhelming ability to strip away all veneer to get to the bottom line and not afraid of endings or new beginnings. A loyal friend but a fanatic foe, they invented the word "revenge." hmmmm....didnt find much positive to say about the poor scorpio! but dont worry. im REALLY easy to work with when it comes to being your photographer just ask ann, elizabeth, trish, christine, rebecca, courtney, sarah, jessalyn & lenita. yowza. thats a lot of BDW gals. and i have more to come. dont want to send them into panic mode so i should probably be quiet. oops! were you winking because you already knew i was scorpio? that went totally over my head.
  11. no passengers were eaten in the making of that photo miss you too ann! i stumbled across you and your belly in your for sale wedding dress. very funny. and cute. i want to photograph a knocked up bride! ha!
  12. i definately didnt want to make you feel bad or guilty about your review, at all. i hope i didnt come across that way. just some observations from my experience as a photographer. congrats on your marriage! what a wonderful time in your life. im an old married woman now. i miss those newlywed days ha! although my hubby had a nice present for me when i returned from riviera maya sunday and took 1/2 a day off monday to go to lunch and hangout. i told him i should be gone more often!
  13. hehe! me too janet. cannibal isnt something i want to add to my resume. in fact i only really eat fish and chicken and rarely. people...not on my menu!
  14. as a photographer im not sure if i should put in my 2 cents or not. but since i always have an opinion - here goes! i think while not all reviews will be 100% positive, some can be. sometimes you can be 100% happy with things. i think back to my wedding and there were definately aspects of it that i was 100% happy with. so i think you can be honest and still write a review that is 100% positive when warranted. as a photographer i have to tell you i work my ass off at weddings. i put everything i have into every wedding and it is personal. it is business but personal too. i develop wonderful relationships with my couples and seriously just love them to death. i think in all the time ive been doing wedding photography ive had 2 couples with issues related to their pics and in reality they just wanted a more traditional photographer than i am and neither one of us realized it until after the wedding date. (in fact one complaint was about the train being messed up but im 90% a PJ shooter and no way am i going to interrupt a moment to straighten out a train) i work really hard to screen my couples and make sure we are a good match. no ones happy and it doesnt work if we arent. and thats no good for all of us. i want couples who love and i mean LOVE my work and see my vision. so id rather turn down a wedding and lose the money than have a bad match with a couple. am i perfect...no way. but i work my hardest on every single wedding and want everyone to be so happy at the end they want to name their first born after me (yes i had a bride who said she was going to do this!) so i dont want you to feel bad at all about giving an honest review but i just want to give some perspective about how photographers feel about their weddings and couples. there is one thing i read in the review that i would call your attention to...this part...(3) in some of the photos of our rings on the starfish my ring is placed with the diamonds down (no big deal as in one of them its fine, plus in all the ones of the ring on the flowers its showing properly so I’ll mostly print those instead) it seems to me there is the one photo that the ring is facing the right direction and the rest it isnt. so you have the one you need right? as a photographer i probably would have edited out the ones that werent and then...there you go...you wouldnt have seen the wrong way ones. but every photographer has a reason for the way they do things so im not say the way your photographer edited is right or wrong. im trying to think of an example from my own business to share...i had a bride who wanted to know why the sky wasnt blue behind her during the ceremony and she wasnt happy about this as she had always imagined those beautiful blue skies behind her. well the reason was because of where the sun was positioned that time of day. the pretty blue skies were the other direction. opposite her ceremony site. so sometimes there could be a reason that you just dont understand cause these arent things we think about everyday and probably dont even know if youre not used to thinking about light. if she would have gone on to a forum and posted how i messed up the blue skies in her pics i would have been upset and felt i was reviewed unfairly. so thats just an example i can think of. i agree that feedback is important. if there some areas where clients feel i could improve i wouldnt mind hearing it at all. weddings are emotional events and i know emotions play into reviewing. it sounds like you were feeling stressed about somethings and she was too. i have a therapy background and i think it helps me maintain my cool in stressful situations. i remember being more stressed about my first few destination weddings than i get now. i prepare as best i can but do get a little anxious before every wedding, domestic or destination. just a little ball in my gut. but i look at that as a good thing. if i didnt get that little ball i think it would mean i quit caring. and then i just need to quit all together! it seems overall youre very happy with your pics and thats the most important thing, well that and the fact you are married to the man of your dreams. i hope this all gets resolved. it might feel really intense right now but will feel less intense in a few weeks and then you can get back to focusing on what you like about your wedding pics and your wonderful wedding memories! best wishes ps - i know im not on here as much as i used to be and a lot of you dont know me. i hope this has be helpful nonetheless.
  15. (this is also on my blog but thought id post it here. feel free to visit the blog if you want.) now that im home safe and sound, I thought I’d share! Last week I traveled to beautiful Riviera Maya for Rebecca and Eric’s wedding. The night before I left my hubby and I were sitting on the sofa and here’s how the conversation went - the hubby - you want to hear your horoscope? what are you sagittarius? me - no scorpio. the hubby - you want to hear it? me - not if it says my plane is going down, i’m flying tomorrow. the hubby - laughing hysterically. me - what!?! what!?! the hubby - i swear i didn’t know it was going to say this! me - oh **** (insert expletive of choice here) just read it… the hubby - ok here’s what it says…by the time rescue workers reach you this week, not only will you have eaten all your fellow passengers, but moved on to the food they brought along as well. (continued hysterical laughing here followed by…) you want to be sagittarius instead? So I decided to go anyway…looked like I was going to make it no matter what. I was feeling kind of bad for the fate of my fellow passengers And since it would be a shame to write a post without a photo, here’s one from Rebecca and Eric’s day after shoot in our shhhh…SUPER SECRET Riveria Maya location! More coming soon.

We haven't booked our trips or put money down yet so that's why I hadn't asked about an updated contract. Really, I think it is too risky. I was hoping you girls would all tell me it's not but it sounds like it is. It's just, when I looked up photographers in Cancun there were all around 3 grand US and you only got a couple hours for that and actual prints (not digitals). We can't afford to be spending a fortune so I'm even more at a loss now. :S heres what i think though even if you get a good quality local person - sol, matt or their associate - for 3 hours you are getting great photos, not risking it with none or crappy photos from a rookie (not talking about your hired photographer here) so see if you can find someone local for a few hours on the wedding day and then if you cant get who you want specifically hire them for a day after. just a thought. i would rather have fewer hours and great photos than more coverage and ok photos. eta - maybe you could use some of your wedding money to buy the digital negatives at a later date ala carte if the photographer offers them.
  21. i always arrive at least 2 days before the wedding if im traveling out of the country. one destination place i would consider coming the morning before the wedding is cabo because its only a little over a 2 hour flight from SD its nonstop and there are lots of them. if i were going from vancouver to cancun - no way. its an all day trip already with no room for mess ups. i hate to tell you this but i think its too risky. your weddings a tuesday right? maybe you could find a photographer who is shooting a wedding that saturday in that area willing to stay over? or of course look local. im not sure what your contract is with your photographer you have now. does it specify she will fly out two days before the wedding? it sounds like youre getting her for so much less because she doesnt have experience doing DWs and i think its showing because any photographer who does would not feel comfortable making such a long trip out of the country the day before the wedding. heck i wouldnt even fly into nyc from CA for a wedding the day before and its in the same country and there are lots of flights.
  22. thanks ladies. to answer your questions - i use kubota plus other actions. and sarah it is a bludomain. its not a secret anyone can buy the template. there are plenty of this website floating around. you just hope your images stand out!!!
