  1. Thank you all for your comments on the photographs of this beautiful couple's amazing wedding! Milena and Gerry were an amazing bride and groom! So I love seeing this pop up again. One of my all time favorite posts was when Milena shared how she used her wedding photographs to decorate their home... so very inspiring to see the final results displayed so beautifully!
  2. That is such a fantastic idea! One of the things that I absolutely LOVE about destination weddings is the opportunity to spend time with people of diverse backgrounds. We love seeing how brides and grooms choose to incorporate their personalities, style and traditions into the wedding celebration.
  3. How funny, I was going to say Le Blanc Resort and Spa but Away DC beat me to it! High heel friendly and sounds very much like what you are looking for in style. Here are a couple of photographs from our blog that show the gazebo: Missy and Brain, Le Blanc Resort and Spa

JW Marriott/ Casa Magna Cancun Elizabeth Medina Wedding Photographs The gazebo is so pretty! I can't help posting a photo. Best wishes! Elizabeth
  5. Hi Katie, Sorry I know it goes quickly! Just like the entire year of 2010 seemed to. :-) I think if you watch it for a minute your eyes may catch up. Most of the images are also on my blog as well.
  6. Hola BDW brides! Something I look forward to all year long is a chance to take some time out to look back at all the amazing and unique weddings and the very wonderfull couples we have photographed during the year! You have truly been an inspiration! For brides with upcoming weddings and brides still beginning to plan their weddings, I hope this year in review slideshow will give a little glimpse into the magic of a destination wedding in Mexico. Saludos! Elizabeth Elizabeth Medina Photography 2010 Year in Review Slideshow
  7. Hi Dana, Thank you so much for your nice comment about my work. I have replied to your email so please let me know if my reply has not reached you. thank you and best wishes for your wedding in Secrets Maroma. (that is an amazing location by the way!)
  8. Oh my goodness, I posted this three years ago, it is fun to see this again. This location still really speaks to me! Thank you so much for your responses, I am so happy to be able so share such an amazing hidden gem with you all! <<<How far from Playa Del Carmen is this place? >>> I would recommend allowing at least 6.5 hours from Playa, possibly more if unfamiliar with the roads, we are always surprised that it takes longer than expected for the second leg of the trip. The hacienda is off the beaten path for sure but a one of a kind location! Here are a few images from a couple of recent weddings. Many more images can be found on the blog: Elizabeth Medina Photography, Hacienda Uayamon Weddings
  9. 1106, I know that there is a photographer policy that brides have needed to comply with in order to use an independent photographer, I would recommend checking directly with the resort.
  10. Casey! Thank you for sharing your photos! I think the idea of wedding wall paper could catch on. <<<<your wedding was beyond beautiful!!! aaahhh i love it!!!! who did your centerpieces??? EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!!! You looked STUNNING!!!>>>>>> The wedding really was amazing, just a perfect day, I loved the color popping details and especially having such a laid back and all around enjoyable couple to document. Here are a few images from the TTD session:
  11. Thank you so much ladies! (y Señor Mateo ) I really appreciate you taking time to peek at the photos and I love hearing your comments. Casey, you´ve got mail.
  12. Day after session... Just one more, sorry its hard to narrow down... I have too many favorites. More on the blog.
  13. Warning sentimental photographer alert... Carla and Angelo's destination wedding was held at the Dreams Riviera Cancun resort. This is a lovely wedding destination with an intimate scale for an all inclusive and a very relaxed and pleasant vibe. The day was wonderful (as I have noticed destination weddings with BDW brides tend to be!), the couple perfectly amazing together and the entire group seemed to kick back and enjoy every moment of the experience of a wedding in Mexico. Looking back at the slideshow of photographs from the day made me remember a very emotional comment that the father of the groom at one of my weddings made to me a few years ago (insert New York accent here)... "its not every day, you know?" Could that be one bit more true? I feel very blessed to be able to be able to personally turn my artistic "focus" on such a beautiful and expressive life changing event. For all of you planning a destination wedding I am so thrilled for you and hope you will enjoy experiencing each moment to the fullest. As always I thank you for checking out a very long slideshow and I appreciate any comments. Carla and Angelo Wedding and TTD slideshow
  14. Here is a good overview of the weather you can expect during the different times of the year from trip advisor. I think it is really important to make the distinction between an actual hurricane that makes landfall and threatened hurricanes like the one that caused Matt's Island wedding to be relocated or those that pass by offshore like Ivan. Actual hurricanes are so very rare (I have experienced two in 27 years) but when they do hit all bets are off.
  15. We took these last year when hurricane (Alex I think) missed us here in the Mayan Riviera... but stirred up some fantastic skies and once in a lifetime pictures! We loved it... and so did Nicole and Kurt who are also BDW members! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ MTM, It looks to me like that bride and groom were much too busy to notice the weather. I have noticed this with wedding guests at rainy weddings as well, they always seem to be having so much fun I am not sure if they ever even notice the fact that it is raining at all! I personally make no claims to be an expert on the weather but since I will be photographing a really sweet couple tomorrow I have had one eye on the sky all morning and blazing sunshine has alternated with dark and overcast about 5 times already today! You just never know! The one thing I do know is that you can't go by the weather channel forecast on the iphone, it almost always shows rain even when the weather is fantastic. This year I also photographed some events with crazy, crazy weather, it really was a year for that I think, and they seemed to have been spread out in different months. I think that there are so many factors involved in scheduling a wedding and probability of rain is only one of them. It was fun to see that Matt and Sol were also shooting as Ivan passed by offshore Donna and Patrick's wedding had Ivan's crazy weather making things interesting for us as well that day, but it was still an amazing time.
  16. Â This is such a gorgeous, gorgeous dress! The wedding day went so quickly, I hope another BDW bride gets the chance to wear it! Here are a couple of photos of Jannae rocking it!
  17. Â Thank you jystar! I know you will find the right photographer for your day. :-) Â I am going to jump back in because I think my comments are being taken in a way that I really did not mean them to be... I would be the very last person to "bash" any hardworking professional wedding photographer! I really do not think you can pre judge all resort photographers and certainly quality and experience varies among the independent photographers as well. Sometimes they are even the same people who are sometimes freelance and sometimes contracted to a resort! Either way if at all possible it is good to get an idea of the complete coverage from multiple events, not just a few sample website images. :-) Â
  18. I really think that when hiring a photographer (through the resort of otherwise) the very best way to avoid surprises is to view several sets of full finished wedding galleries by the specific photographer in question as a primary shooter. (ie not random website "favorites" and not photographs from workshop set ups or taken as a second shooter and especially not photographs from other photographers working for the same resort or company!). Â Looking at several full weddings from the specific photographer who would be shooting your wedding will allow you to judge how consistently this particular photographer's skill set, equipment and most importantly artistic vision hold up during the different aspects of the day and under different conditions, timelines, etc. that can be a part of the wedding day. It will also let you evaluate the photographer's grasp of the different aspects of wedding photography ie. how do they approach the spontaneous moments? details? family photos, photos in different lighting conditions? Going through completed galleries will also give you a clear idea of how the photos are presented and edited (are all the photos edited to look like the ones on the website or just a handful?). Finally I think that looking at full sets of wedding photos will allow you to get an idea of what you would like to be included in your package and how much you will end up paying realistically when all is said and done...would you be happy choosing 50 prints or can you tell ahead of time that will you want to purchase the entire set on CD? Â If you are not able to view photos by the specific person who would be shooting your wedding because the assignment of photographers is more of a random thing I would think that would be something of a "red flag" (whether it could actually happen or not I think a vision comes to mind of the pool guy being handed the camera and I don't think anyone wants to go there!). If an independent photographer is not wiling or able to share full galleries of actual weddings shot as a primary shooter I think this would be a good reason to keep looking as well. Â Best wishes!
