Thanks Tammy...For inviting me to join the forum! I'm sorry it took me so long to introduce myself, December was a crazy month and January flew by. I am happy to say that I have already met some of you and am very excited about the weddings I have coming up with brides from this forum! I would like to say ¨hola¨ to those I have not yet met, and congratulate you on planning a destination wedding.
Just to tell you a little about myself...I am originally from Michigan and met my husband while on a semester abroad in my junior year at Michigan State University. We got married right after college and I have lived here in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico ever since. About 12 years ago I started studying photography and have never looked back! Within a few months I had my own darkroom and a couple of years later had my first one person gallery show. In addition to my fine art work I loved photographing my children, and then my friends children...things just snowballed until I opened my storefront portrait studio almost four years ago.
Well known and respected in my area for my family photography (famous as the ¨gringa¨photographer¨ who takes ¨natural¨photographs), things were going great...and then I was bitten by the wedding photojournalism bug and discovered my true photographic love...destination weddings!!!!! As a photographer, I like nothing more than capturing people in love, on the happiest, most exciting day of their lives in a beautiful setting...what could be better than that?
I originally began covering weddings in my local area. Merida, Yucatan has some fabulous haciendas and I love photographing here, family is very important and I have photographed weddings with up to 900 guests...but I began to receive inquiries for weddings a little farther afield and have now begun traveling for weddings in the Riviera Maya and throughout Mexico, with many more to come in the next year. I love capturing the real moments and telling the story of the day, love hearing from my excited couples when they receive their photos and absolutely love designing wedding albums!
I would invite you all to check out my portfolio, Elizabeth Medina, destination wedding photography, Merida, Yucatan, Mexico
and to visit my blog, Elizabeth Medina Photography I have also started a blog for my gallery work, Elizabeth Medina Art
My packages have evolved a bit in the past months. In the interest of clarity, I offer separate packages for the Maya Riviera/Cancun (I am located 4 hours away and request one night hotel accommodations to cover events in that area) and for destination weddings in the rest of Mexico (and worldwide ), where I offer a minimum of eight hour coverage and request my airfare and hotel costs be covered. If anyone is still reading this LONG post and would like more information on my packages, just let me know!
Looking forward to meeting more of you and may you all have absolutely wonderful weddings!
best wishes,
Elizabeth
