Dreams Cancun Hair And Makeup
*JillD* replied to cancunbride's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
I would definitely ask for Christian, he's fantastic! As for the makeup, I brought pictures of what I wanted for makeup, he did a great job, but bring your own makeup, because the stuff they had there was pretty disgusting. Oh and I wouldn't let the do your lipstick, they put pink lipstick on me with brown lipline,YUCK! I immediately took that off! but the rest was good, I thought, better than I could have done myself. -

The floors up above us looked like they were just wide open, I don't think they had the glass. The room is sort of like a 'Y' shape, the hallway is the stem of the Y, the dining area is sort of at the top of the stem, the living room is the right side of the Y and then the bedroom is the left side of the Y. The bed is sort of in a different section, there isn't a wall or anything but I thought it felt pretty seperate. We had a bunch of our guests in our room one night to watch the Sox in the playoffs and we had plenty of space in the living/dining area that no one was even near the bed section. And the bathroom is huge, huge tub and shower, one thing I hated about the shower is that there is no curtain, there is a small section of glass, near the shower head, but it doesn't extend the whole way, it was sort of annoying!

You will find a bad review on every resort out there because every person can't be pleased. Some people just look for a reason to complain. If you did a search on this website and compared how many people have had fantastic weddings at dreams to those who haven't you would find that 99% of us were very happy with dreams. Off the top of my head I can think of maybe 2 bad reviews at dreams and you'll also find bad reviews on different riu resorts, etc.... Honestly, I would trust a brides opinion on this forum before I would listen to someone who posted on tripadvisor. You have no idea if the person on tripadvisor is really even a bride.

I loved the bar with the swings!! My favorite! Make sure you go there at 4 o'clock for a cocoloco, there only available for a limited time starting at 4. I'll be right back with the pics you're looking for Quote: Originally Posted by mummergirl Why hasn't anyone mentioned these? Swings at the bar?!! I LOVE IT! Everyone keeps saying how there's "so much to do" at Dreams but all I ever see pictures of is the tiny infinity pool. Also, we booked the Preferred Club (tower) Jr. Jacuzzi Suite ... anyone have photos of these suites?

Is anyone else out there scared about the economy?

I've tried to take over the financial aspect of the household, but it's hard because it does all go ino the joint account (although we also both have our own seperate accounts) so Brian can easily transfer funds to his account. I like to have my own safety net with my own account, but since not working (but still having to pay credit card bills) that net is pretty close to nothing. So that definitely stresses me out although it has less to do with the economy and more to do with Brian's loose spending habits. However because of his spending habits (he tends to blow money on crap we totally don't need) things like rising gas and food prices, etc are becoming more of an issue. He has good job security but you never know. I always like to have a backup and that's sort of been hard to do when you have a spouse who's totally irresponsible with money. And yes I've tried to put him on a budget! Oh Jessica, Brian sounds a lot like Steve!! I get so annoyed because I hardly spend any money and he spends money everyday on stupid crap! I get so stressed out about finances, I usually have a breakdown at least once a month, but nothing ever changes. the economy is so scary right now! -

awww, maybe he just wants you to play with him? My dogs used to do that when they were home alone or when we were busy with something else and not paying attention to them.

I admit, I do not do a good job of living green. But I'm glad you posted about this because I see that there are some small, easy to do things that I can do that will make a difference.
-
Depending on when you booked her, I'm sure the prices are different. I can tell you that when I booked them, there was only a handful of brides here that had used them/ or were going to be using them and the prices were about half of what you posted, but they have become so popular and so busy over the past year or so, probably mostly due to this forum, that because of the demand, I'm sure that's why they raised their prices. However, a lot of photographers that I looked into in cancun/rm when we got married had prices starting at around $2500-$3000, so I was really happy to find claudia and find that she had smaller packages that were less costly.

EDR Breakfast in Bed
*JillD* replied to BandE2008's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
we honeymooned there and the room service menu has very few options on it ( we ordered breakfast everyday, haha) but they will bring you whatever you want if they have it. I don't think they had just bacon & eggs listed but I know DH got it a couple of times, we had bagels, and french toast, I don't remember what else, but they definitely didn't have a lot on the room service menu, so you just had to ask. -

Like Alyssa, I have never heard of Bunco. And like Jessica, sadly I don't have enough friends, lol! -

And I usually have some berries as well. I don't get anywhere near the 15 grams of fat with that.... Yesterday for lunch I had a footlong veggie sandwich from subway, I think it was 8 grams and some cool ranch doritos which were 7 grams, I probably wouldn't have eaten the doritos, but because I was so low with fat at breakfast I wanted to make sure I got close to 15 for lunch. I absolutely LOVE subway, veggie subs from there have always been one of my favorites, its like salad with bread, lol! I know, I know, doritos are probably not the best choice for a diet, but I did stay within my fat and calorie guidelines for the day, so bad stuff sometimes within reason is okay. Today for lunch I had a boca burger, on a bun, with a slice of cheese and some salad with spray dressing. He also brought up the issue of what the guys are going to wear and I think we figured it out I also booked our airfair for the wedding. Yesterday was my birthday We had planned to go to the beach, but it was crummy here in the morning. He asked what I wanted to do so I asked him if he'd really do ANYTHING I wanted LOL he said yes...so we went into Manhattan and went back to the jewler where he got my e-ring...well, they weren't in so we wandered around and spoke to a couple of different jewlers. We found one that we really liked and he does custome work and had some suggestions about a wedding band to fit my e-ring. And we liked his prices I am goign to go back in a week or two and get the ball rolling on that one. Afterwards we wandered around China Town and Little Italy, had coffee and Gellato and then back to China Town. I can't tell you how many of those shops we went into, but I finally found the perfect Pashima's for my BM's. Their dresses are aqua and light ivory...so the pashima's are solid ivory but have a circular design on them. I just emailed a company about AB Swarovski starfish pendents that I am going to use to make the BM's necklaces and earings and I ordered my tote bags from www.cheaptotes.com...FYI - the natural canvas is on sale for $.99 and cupon code "cheaptotes" saves you 10% I think ($.01 per bag). Don't worry ladies, I'm taking pictures of everything and posting them here and there (I already posted my invitations). I plan to do a full and complete and LONG planning thread!!!!! Hey Dez! I bought a swarovski starfish pendant off of ebay before my wedding last year, you might want to check there to compare prices too, I'm not sure how much they are from the company you contacted. Good luck!

oooh, Maura, thanks for posting that! I love egg mcmuffins! I'll have to look for the sarah lee ones next time I go to the store. You know, I thought about making eggs today for breakfast, for some protein and fat, but was lazy and just had cereal, but I do like to try to eat a lot of protein because it truly does make you feel less hungry. I ate a snacksize 100 calorie, fat free microwave popcorn last night while watching tv, that's okay right?

Good tips! I think I had the high protein granola in my hand, but because I didn't know how much fat I would be eating, I was trying to buy everything with low amounts of fat. I'm all out of milk right now, so I'll pick up low fat today. It's weird, because I feel like I'm always trying to eat more fat, it should be the opposite, lol!

Thanks Maura! Today I had a bowl of smart start cereal, with skim milk and a banana. I think it came out to 3.5 grams of fat altogether. Yesterday I had a light yogurt with strawberries, blueberries and the lowest fat bear naked granola, I think that came out to around 5 grams When I was buying the granola I looked at all of them and chose the lowest fat one, but now that I see that my breakfasts are usually pretty low in fat, I didn't really need to do that, I could have chosen one of the others, that looked really yummy, lol!
-
I started my Alli yesterday, so far so good. I do have one question for anyone that's using it or has used it. Do you still take a pill if you're eating a meal that doesn't have a lot of fat? The reason I ask is because my breakfast is usually fairly low in fat, maybe 3-4 grams of fat, should I still take the pill with breakfast or is that kind of pointless?

I want to see the dress!!! It's tomorrow, lol! I HATE my arms, they're so flabby and gross, I'm always so self concious, but I ended up with a strapless dress and the day of my wedding, I wasn't thinking about my fat arms at all. You'll look beautiful in your dress and no one will think otherwise. Now, where is that dress....

I love it Kat, it's adorable! I think I actually looked at that one, wouldn't have mattered anyway since I forgot to take my cake topper out of my suitcase, lol!
