Show us your wedding dress!
KARLA replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thanks for the other website Christa! I went shopping last night and could not find any jewelry, so I really appreciate the links! My dress has some gold embroidery in it, so the gold was pretty much chosen for me. I'm actually not a huge fan of gold jewelry, I prefer silver so I think that's why I'm having a hard time choosing something. Everything I've seen in gold does not appeal to me as much as the silver toned jewelry. Here's the dress in the Casablanca website. I'll post once I get pics of me in it this weekend. Funny story, I saw this dress in 3 different shops and every time I would try it on (with different people there) they would all LOVE it, yet I could not get myself to chose it. I kept saying... it's got gold embroidery AND ruffles?!? Yet I kept going back to it. So the 3rd time I tried it on, I fell in love with it.... Go figure! Sorry took me long to post, I usually barely have time to post on the forum when I'm at work. Can you tell I'm totally slacking today?? -
Post your "Must Have" wedding songs
KARLA replied to TammyWright's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
Dance lists are so hard to come up with! We're working on ours and I will post when we're done. Tammy, you crack me up... so Milkshake by Kelis is okay to play for the old folks yet not the hip hop songs? ha ha -

I think Coca is giving you better prices!!

Natasha, My hair appointment the day of the wedding is at 11 AM, ceremony is at 4 PM. I keep trying to push back to get my hair done at noon (I'm trying to squeeze in more pool time!), and my coordinator keeps telling me to keep it at 11. She thinks my hair will take over an hour, add interruptions, late starts, etc.. I think if she thought that was too early and my hairstyle would fall out, she would be advising me to do my hair appt later.

Sorry Maria Elena, I'm just mooching off this posting, since I'm trying to figure out where we will be going when we're there also, and I've never been there either. Are you going to do a really "fancy" night out to dinner? We were thinking about going to either Las Ventanas or One and Only for dinner one of those nights. I have read mixed reviews about "C" in One and Only. Any thoughts by anybody that has been to either one of the hotel's restaurants for dinner? Where are you honeymooning (if you don't mind me asking)?

What is a Mexican Trio anyway?

KARLA replied to MARIAELM's topic in Cabo Accommodation & Site
Thank you for posting the spa prices! Our honeymoon is at the Marquis and we are definitely going to indulge in the Spa. I can't wait!! -
Jenny, Where are you getting your hair done and did Coca recommend them? (See my Nahui Day Spa post.) Ugh, I hate that I had all this figured out already!!

It is refreshing to hear that other people have had similar issues and it all came out ok in the end. That's what I love about this forum! I don't feel so alone in my decision, and to be honest, it's comforting to see that I'm not the only one that has such pain in the a$$ family and friends I love them all, but sometimes I really had a good cry over this! -
Hey Jenny, I just received a price list from Coca and the Trio is listed at $400 for the hour. I asked why $400 and not $350 like her original price list and she said that the $350 was a Mexican Trio. The classical Trio is $400. Sorry, I didn't know there was a difference in Trios! She did not give me the name of the band. Let me know what prices she quotes you. I'm guessing it will be the same.

That is exactly how I feel also thinking about the budget: I don't want to talk about it anymore! ha ha

Decor/music/coordinator,etc: $7,500 (last total my coordinator sent) Food: $2100 Drinks: $4000 Bonfire: $500 Total: $14,100 (and I'm sure it will be more once we're done) Travel: Add another $5500 - Flights + wedding hotel + honeymoon hotel... we did splurge on first class flights :-) I don't even want to add the rings, OOT bags, wedding gown, etc... At least it would be much more if we had a wedding in the U.S., so I have to remind myself of that! I hate to say it... my mother was right. I told her 10k the most, and she laughed

(Sorry) I'm just venting- probably should move that to the venting thread I'm so sorry! It is so difficult to deal with the family dynamics... I hope it all works out for you. I think some people just get in shock over having to take time and spend money for somebody else. We had the same issues with some close friends and some family, but after a while it worked itself all out. At the beginning I really was wondering if it was all worth it, since we were getting so much slack from people. It was definitely worth it to me, and at the end of it all everybody is SO excited to be going to Cabo and taking a vacation! Even the initial complainers.... so hang in there! :-) -

Sorry I can't help you out with info regarding the PB chain. Stephanie, now that you have found this forum, I think it is completely doable to do all the legwork and hiring yourself. If you want to have a very relaxing stress free time while you're there, I would recommend a day of coordinator at the very least. I think having somebody there overseeing everything is worth every penny!

Getting the Dress There
KARLA replied to NATASHA's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thanks for all the advice! I know that I'm definitely taking the dress as a carry on with me. It just dawned on me that the dress would be my ONE carry on allowed on the plane. I'm so used to taking my rolling carry on in the plane and usually can fit a couple of days outfits in there. What did you guys carry on the plane with you? I know that you're only allowed a second carry on... but for the girls that did take their gowns with them on the plane, did you guys take a second carry on with you? -
We're doing a Buffet and Beach Bonfire at Tabascos on Nov 2nd. I am actually really excited about this event! Everybody thinks the whole beach bonfire thing is really cool. I will post pics and reviews when I get back.

Guest Attire?
KARLA replied to gkashmira's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
We put "Dressy Resort Attire" in our invitations. Not sure if that's a real phrase, but it's the only phrase that I threw at my fiance and actually said he might know what to wear from that phrase. I am seriously crossing my fingers that nobody will show up in flip flops and shorts. Let's just say I'm HEAVILY spreading the attire by word of mouth. After all, it is still a wedding! -
Erin, I'm using Georgina Espinosa from Cabo Dream Weddings. Jenny in this forum is also using her (she goes by Coca also). I highly recommend her services. This is her contact information: e-mail: [email protected] http://www.cabodreamweddings.com/ She does several weddings at Sunset Da Mona Lisa. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.
