Congrats! We booked 9 months out and it was such a relief to pay the deposit and finally have confirmation!!

Britt - we did decide on Barcelona Tapas. We met Bill and ate there twice in March and he has been very easy to work with throughout the process. I cannot wait. I think the view is so stunning and I think our guests will just LOVE it! We've hired buses to take us to BT from Nuevo on Monday 11/2 for the welcome event. We are expecting about 70 and will have the entire rooftop area. Hooray!

I'll confirm with Kelley about the starfish. Thank you!

Hi girls;

O.k., I've been MIA as well. I booked a wedding cruise and when I found out you can only get married in port I realized I don't want to get married in Long Beach. SO I decided I would try and do a beach wedding at one of the ports. First port ....Puerta Villarta...so I did a scheach for weddings in P.L. and found the Las Calentas adventure wedding website. It looked exactly like everything I had always imagined a beach wedding should be like.

So I booked my date with Kelly on Feb. 24, 2010 (that's the day the cruise ship is in port). That was a couple months ago, I haven't heard a word from anyone yet and at approx 5 months out I'm thinking I should start tying up the loose ends.

Has anyone else done the cruise ship/ las calentas combo yet? When I first signed up I got a PM from a bride to be that was going to do the same thing but I don't remember her name. I'm thinking she might have already had her wedding and would love to find out what kind of other plans I might need to take care of.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do next? I feel like I should be doing something other then watching the days tick away. Where do I start?

Thanks for the help.

Michele

well, for starters, you have plenty of time. i don't think i tied up the loose ends until a week or so before the wedding, to be honest. if you need to feel like you're planning, start collecting picture of things that you like for the cake, flowers, colors, etc. then when it gets closer to the day you can pass those along to kelley/nicole.

i do remember someone else talking about doing the cruise/LC combo but i can't remember who. i have a list of most (all?) of the LC brides - if you can remember roughly when she was getting married i can provide a list of the names. you could also ask nicole or kelley.

Hello,

We are very interested in Las Caletas for our wedding but we are a little confused on pricing. Does the premier (platinum) package include dinner in the price or is that extra. I thought I read the package included dinner but when I fill out the request form in states $50 per person for dinner. Does anyone know anything about this? What would be the best day to have a wedding at Las Caletas? Are there less tourist on some days versus others? Thank you.

ok so it may have changed a bit since I booked but there was a fee for the premier package. the standard package fee, then yes there is an additional $50 per person added. that is for dinner/drinks/desserts.

It doesnt really matter which day of the week you choose. the tour groups are only there in the daytime, the weddings take place later around sunset.
So on my wedding day, I went over to LC with my mom, aunt (or wedding party if you have one) we spent the entire day there, swimming, drinking margaritas, laying out and hanging out in the bridal casita. then around 2 I started getting ready, that was right as the other tourists were leaving. then the wedding guests come over. There are tourists that do come to LC for the rythms of the night show but they are nowhere close to the wedding festivities. It is very private no matter what day you have your wedding

oh, but I forgot, I think recently they started doing sunday weddings in which there are no day tours on sundays. JaimeLynne was married on a sunday and went over to LC at her leisure...and then was there all day with no other tourists.

Fernando was great, but since you don't do a dry run, make sure you bring pics and pay attention as he goes. Mine was close to what i wanted, but I would have made slight alterations, and I didn't pay attention to what he was doing while he did it. I also like more mascara and eyeliner, and I should have spoken up. So as long as you know what you want, you will be good with Fernando.

The cake was great. Mexico cakes taste different than I am used to. I sent them a pic for a 3 tiered cake with shells, and that is what I got. It didnt have fondant, but it served the purpose.

The photographers are great to work with and really cool and do a very nice job. That said, their package is very weird. I payed around $2500 for 100 pics to keep. What I didnt realize is that out of all thepics taken, they only retouched and sent me 187 to review. I had to ask them to see more pictures to choose my 100 from. It went back and forth a few times because of the language barrier. Also, other people cant choose the pics they like. Once you choose your 100, you own them and people can get that picture, but if you dont choose a picture of your aunt, she cant get that picture. Other photogs just upload all of them to a site and people pick what they want. And believe me, 100 pics goes by fast! You can upgrade packages, but I would price shop this against other photographers.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
