So, technically we have saved 1500 so far. The insurance gaurantees us the lwest price from time of booking to the day before we fly out, which is nice. Honestly, this whole swine flu has been beneficial for our situation ... please don't hate me for saying that! WIth the way things are, I'm certain as guests, we can be a little more "pushy" because there is more available and open! Like you said, can't hurt to ask!

Ctodd8 ... It's a 4 page document that actually says "My Wedding Details" across the top ... I'll try to attach it ... let's see if I can do this ...

Michelle ... thanks for the info on the cake! Cheesecake, I think it is!! Sounds yummy!!!

Again, thanks gals! You're all amazingly wonderful!! Cou;dn't be doing this without you!!!
Thanks Christy! I wish we had gotten the insurance now. I had no idea it covers you for that. Wow! You guys were smart! I am just glad they are all rebooked and set. I need to stop sweating the small stuff! :)

What are your thoughts? Thanks! :)
We just got back from the Lindo and saw a wedding on the beach Saturday. It was HOT at 5 pm still. I think the fans are a good idea, plus it's a bonus at dinner/reception.

I was a little shocked at the topless women and speedos next to the wedding area. I would think that people who watch would put some clothes back on...but that didn't happen. My fiance now wants to get married in the Chapel after seeing that. And he was Gung Ho about the beach. Lesson learned...

Which is one of the main reasons I refused to have a beach wedding. People are just plain disrespectful. I took some of my pics down at the beach and I have this crazy woman with her legs spread all funny (clothed in a one-piece bathing suit thank GOD) in the background of one of my pics, every time people see that pic they say "wtf?" and I say "I know, I know, some weird crazy lady with her legs spread" lol.

FBIL and his wife had a snag on their trip. FSIL originally had her time off approved (she works for the USPO) and now they say she has to work on July 3rd or she will be fired. They were supposed to leave on the 2nd, and now they are leaving on the 4th. So I have been working with the TA to change their room reservations etc, and they had to pay Frontier $300 in change fees. YUCK! FFIL was pissed! Luckily TA rebooked them and they got a $240 refund on the room, which I was very happy with! FFIL is paying for us and them, so he asked hey, maybe we can get a refund too. Although I felt bad for asking, but All he can do is say no! RIght?

Well, I just sent an email saying thank you etc. and BTW, any chance they can get a refund or upgrade? It can't hurt to ask, right? I am sure he will come back and say Hell to the no! But At least I asked. Have you all looked how cheap things are right now? It is insane. Well, at least we are all going and the Swine flu is all over.

Has anyone asked, or gotten any refunds in the difference in prices, or upgrades?
Just curious. Oh, and I didn't want to be greedy, I just asked for our parents who are paying for our families for the refund in difference or upgrades. Even though we could have booked the freakin Grand for our entire stay with what we paid for our portion. haha!

Ha! Oh well! I am just happy we are going and everyone is able to join us. And my Father in Law is happy I asked! I am such a dang people pleaser! Uhhh! :)

Hugs!

Bess - I just got back from checking out the place and was moved to the Lindo, b/c the Del Mar is still closed. I did hear of guest getting refunds. However, I know that if you book into a group rate, you won't see any refunds from the TA, but the hotel might upgrade your room. They aren't at Max yet, so I am sure there is still room to move people, it just depends if you want everyone close together. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Nice! Yeah, I haven't heard back form him...I don't expect to get any kind of refund. We were lucky FBIL got to switch w/o additonal costs and a bonus of refund. FFiL just wanted me to ask. So I did, but if we get upgrded, that would be great!

Thanks so much!

Gail-CONGRATS! I can't wait to see your pics and read your full review.

As for the cake questions-we had a 3 tier cake and we made each tier a different flavour. The bottom (and biggest section) was strawberry cheesecake, the middle was chocolate, and the top was vanilla. Strawberry cheesecake was the biggest hit, but it was nice to have choco/vanilla as well for those people who preferred.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
