What did you do with your stuff after the wedding?

Recommended Posts

Most of the stuff that we are taking down there we won't have to bring back, like the OOT bags and the wedding favors. I will be bringing back my wedding dress, but I probably leave my TTD dress, as my Mom is making it to be a light-flowy dress that slightly resembles my wedding dress. As for the table decorations, we might take runners and then just have tealights and shells or something. If my Mom makes chair ties, we will probably bring them back to. Oh yeah, and the cake topper that we ordered and got yesterday!!! It is laser engraved with our names, wedding date, and a tropical scene and then lights up from the bottom. I love it!!!!

Along these lines, I plan on using old suitcases to transport our OOT and other wedding items. Then I'm leaving the actual suitcases there too. Less to haul on the way home! And now that many airlines are going to be charging for the 2nd checked bag, it should save a little $

I looked into shipping items to the resort ahead of time and was advised against it. There is no guarantee you are going to get the items and its quite expensive.

I left all my stuff there (except the wedding dress) I really have no need for 100+ tea lights and bags and bags of rosepettals :-)

Shipping is tricky - trust me I learned from experience. We shipped some items by FedEx (who were great!), but customs removed some of our items because they were made in China. All in all, we only lost about $50 of stuff, but the headache that accompanied it wasn't worth it!

We are planning to get some insuated mugs with a logo on it for all the guests in their OOT bags, and we were going to ship them down, but with the cost and the chance they may not get there, we decided that we will give them to everyone before we leave. We will give some of them out a few days before we leave, and others at the airport. Each person taking one mug isn't as bad as us hauling them all down.

As for decorations down there, we aren't taking that many. The bigger, bulkier things (besides my dress and my daughter's dress) will be the OOT bags and the wedding favors. I haven't decided on the centre pieces for in the DR but they will be something small and easy to pack. I am also waiting to hear back from the WC as to what they have for decorations.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
