I have over 1000 pictures OTHER than Michaels and I did not pay extra for them to photograph. If you're nice to him he'll be nice back. We only spent about 200 - 300 bucks on photos with Michael. I got so many compliments on the ones I framed. They are small on the computer b/c I had to shrink them to fit them. To me they are gorgeous and worth the money. I got TEN b/c I didn't want to upgrade AND then I had him print all the extras that I wanted to frame and those I can't put online seeing as they are in frames on the wall. I got TEN to a disk but not just ten. My DH is a student and I don't have buttloads of extra money for photos. Michael told me personally he keeps pictures indefinitely and I can come back later and get the same price I paid originally to get more pictures.

I am not taking his back b/c I know he has changed policy I see both sides to this. I just got a little tiffed at the above remark. I find it rude to put down someone elses wedding pictures. I wish all the brides the best. Personally I think people are getting fired up. I would personally do what Heidi did and contact the RIU sales.

I need to apologize for my harsh wording. I certainly may have rushed to judgement on the images that I saw. Of course it was you wedding day and you do look amazing and you'll treasure these images forever as you should.

Being a professional photographer as well as a bride I would have to say that this is NO WAY to do business, it's not good for the club nor is it good for the brides. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and alothough I may have made those statements, I really didn't think that they were something that someone who calls themself a professional should be giving his clients. But then again being a photographer I might have a different way of looking at it.

So I apologize if I offended you. You love them and that's all that should matter....smile159.gif

I just thought I would share the email I just got from the wedding sales coordiator at RIU, which was cc'd to Chandlyn. I felt a huge relief that we should not run into complications on the wedding day.

Dear Jocelyn,

Thank you for contacting RIU Weddings Sales Department.

I would like to confirm that if your friend will be part of your wedding guests, there will be no problem if he takes your wedding pictures. There will be no problems with Michael or fee if you don't use the photographer of our Hotel.

I am "cc" to Ms. Chandlyn Edwards, our On Site Wedding Coordinator in Ocho Rios, so she can be informed about this matter. If you shall require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Warm Regards,

**In order to have a wedding at our RIU Hotels & Resorts, the couple and the 80 percent of the total amount of the wedding guests must stay at the hotel where the wedding will be performed. This is a strict Riu policy we must follow.

I would like to add some comments to this thread. We used Michael when we went. He was great!! We didn't want to pay a lot for pictures. We were only going to get the 30 pics on a CD. Then we saw his work and it was amazing!! So we ended up getting more. you only do it once! After we got all of our pictures back, the ones we took were good but his were better. There was a shadow in almost all of them. I also saw a list of weddings that they had scheduled and next to quite a few of them it said own photographer. I don't think he is really going to kick someone out of your wedding. like Calia said if you are nice to him he would be nice to you. Here are the pictures he took and the pictures we took. I hope you can see the difference online. Oh Calia I loved your pictures also!!!

One more thing i forgot. They can take ANYTHING out of the pictures in the photo shop. They took out any people, boat, bouies, the blue wrist band (HA!). I wasn't there to remind my hubby! So the photo shop will cut it out. Also because we ordered more pics on a CD he gave us the 10 that were not supposed to be home use rights on it to copy at home.

I also second that he keeps all of the pictures that he takes and you can always order. He told us he still has his from his first wedding he did when they opened. Heidi I just noticed that you leave so soon!!!!!! Congrats! How exciting!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
