Self Invites

I think you're just going to have to put your foot down and say NO MORE!!! Hopefully, some of these last minute people won't really make it (oooh, I sound mean there!), but seriously, lots of people end up WANTING to go to DI weddings and then end up not going.

Thanks for this thread. I'm having similar problems but not as serious. My cousin invited a friend of hers, yes I know her but never would have invited her. She's welcome to come but do I have to make an OOT bag for her etc. She aslo invited another family to come who were planning a trip. They for sure are not invited to wedding stuff at all.

Another somewhat friend said she didn't like Punta Cana and could we go somewhere else (umm she wasn't on my guest list since she complains about still paying off the trip to my brothers destination wedding).

I'm having the same issue, I have people at work who constantly ask me about the wedding I only invited 4 girls from work who I've become very close to. I figured if I tell people yes I'm getting married in October in DR they would just back off, but its like its just more interesting for them and then i get the "OMG, I've always wanted to go to DR. this is the perfect excuse".

Ugh why do people invite themselves!

Let's just all agree that when we are somebody's mother or FMIL, we will not pull this crap ;-)

Seriously...our invite list hit 207 (I don't even know that many people)...MOST of whom would definitely come to a local wedding. There is a reason people do destination weddings, why is that so hard to understand!!
