ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Yikes! I wasn't expecting it to be that much... We will have to leave the video out:) lol. Thanks for sharing the details though. I had originally planned to have family record for us--- or the resort.... But the resort is $500 for one hour of coverage! I guess we will see....  Our weddings our 3 days apart! I have a ton of little stuff to do too--- and I keep getting distracted by the littlest things-- liking picking another pair or shoes (I've now ordered 3 pair and still am not 100% sold on any-lol)... Well, happy planning :) Maybe we will see each other there, we arrive on the 22nd :)

Hi Ladies,

I'm back!  What an amazing experience.  AMAZING!  I cannot give the Royal enough credit, they really make sure it all goes smoothly.  Just relax and enjoy and take it all in, I wish I could relive it already!  I will post a review soon, but here are some pics.  We did our ceremony at the gazebo at 4 pm, and had the reception in the garden/terrace in front of the gazebo at 6 pm.  We added an extra hour and got a DJ (Doremixx), two things I would HIGHLY  recommend.  I put a picture in here that my friend took of the central garden, looking out from the lobby above.  There is another wedding being set up (not sure when he took it).  The next pic is looking back to the resort from the gazebo.  I really liked the gazebo area b/c it was much more private, I couldn't be happier with it.  But the central garden is beautiful too!

Everyone said it was the "wedding of the century".  We had 25 guests, and we all danced like crazy!

lots of creativity there - I love it. congrats on being married!! : )

Thank You.  Yes, I definitly went out of the box, I wanted the wedding to reflect me and what I really wanted.  I didn't want to settle for the standard, it was stressful since I didn't know how it was all going to come together but I'm so glad I did it!  When I sat down at the reception I almost cried it was such a happy feeling to see all my ideas come together.

The flowers on the gazebo and the rose petals I got through the resort.

The chairs, lounge furniture, and lanterns I got from EW Cancun.

I'm wondering also - How did you get those types of chairs for the ceremony?!  I thought the Royal did not have them, but if they do I'd love to use those.

:)

I got the chairs from an outside vendor, EW Cancun. I also got my lounge furniture and lanterns from them so the outside vendor fee was worth it.  The chairs were much cheaper through them even with the vendor fee and I specifically wanted the dark brown with white cushions, I'm not sure if The Royal has color options for the chivari/tiffany chairs.  I know they have white and they quoted me $10 a chair, EW Cancun was MUCH cheaper than that.

If you wouldn't mind sharing, is mediamorfosis pretty affordable? We were not originally planning to do professional video-- but I just watched an AMAZING video on their site and I'm kinda hopeful that we can maybe squeeze it into the budget... Even though there is the addition of another vendor fee.... I'm sure vegas was amazing for the bachelorette party!

Mediamorfosis is NOT cheap, and you need to book them a room for the night of the wedding.   I came across their videos when we first got engaged and I knew I had to have them.  My fiance fought me on it and I ended up booking them behind his back.  He had no idea until the morning of the wedding, hehe.  He thanked me after the wedding for booking them though, and said he was regretting not getting a videographer.  I was so worried to tell him, whewwww! :)

Ladies!!

I need some help. I was looking at the wedding menu package on the Royal website - are those our only options? I'm not too excited by everything I see. Were any of you able to do taste-testings when you got there before your wedding? I'd hate to pick something blindly and not know if it's good or not.

Also - has anyone had a group dinner at Gran Porto? I have a few guests staying at Gran Porto and I thought it would be nice if we had The Welcome dinner & Cocktails there. Easier than dealing with passes and finding kid friendly places. Any nice restaurants there that allow children?

Muchas Gracias! (i'm practicing my spanish cheesy.gif)

Congrats to the brides that were just married.... and thank you for posting the pics... they all look amazing!!!!

ChicagoBride2011 - I love the long table on the beach, was this something they gave you as an option or just something you knew you wanted? Was there any criteria that had to be met in order for you to have it that way (i.e a minimum/maximum number of guests)?

Thanks for all your input!

I did a tasting on my site visit, I don't think they allow you to do it when you get there.  I'm not sure what's on the website currently but when we did hte tasting everything was delicous and everything was great the day of the wedding too.  You really can't go wrong.

There are 2 nicer restaurants at the Gran Porto one is mexican and the other Italian.  We ate at the mexican restaurant during our site visit and was not impressed, we tried to eat at the Italian during our site visit and our wedding and there was always a very long wait.  A couple of out guests also tried to go there and ended up leaving because of the wait .

The long tables is something I knew I wanted so I just made sure before going down there that the long tables were available and then went over it with my onsite coordinator when I got there.

The one thing with doing the set-up like this is that you need more centerpieces.  For instance we had 48 guests so could have gotten away with 8 round tables/8 centerpieces but since we did it that way I needed 14 lanterns and 12 centerpieces so it definitly costs more to do it this way.

Congrats, Speedy! You look amazing in the pics. Can't wait to read your review.

Thanks for all the info on Mediamorfosis , ladies.... What to do.... We definitely can't afford them. Is anyone else doing video with another company-- or any recent brides used the royal video team? Any suggestions would be great ladies.

June brides, are dates are approaching so quickly!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
