Ali's story

Here is how our engagement happened:

We went on vacation to Europe in August, and the first place we visited was Paris. This is one of our favorite cities, and we have spent lots of time there because I studied there for a year in 2001-2002. On our last night there, we went for a really nice dinner at Monmartre, which is a part of the city that sits a little higher than the rest. After dinner, we walked over to Sacre Coeur, a beautiful old church and looked at the city with all of the lights. This is where Bill planned to ask me, but things did not happen as planned. A group of Germans nearby started up a conversation with us and invited us to have a few drinks with them. I immediately accepted and began talking with them about Munich, which was the next stop on our trip. After several drinks, we decided to head back to our hotel for the night.

We walked through the Moulin Rouge area to get to the Metro stop. This area is full of sex shops, but is really kitschy and touristy. We had been in that area of the city a hundred times, but Bill kept making very strange comments about how we was not happy to be walking through there. It made no sense to me at all, and I thought he was acting really weird.

Only later did I realize that it was because he had wanted to try and ask me on the walk, not remembering what the atmosphere was like in that neighborhood. We eventually made it back to the hotel, and I got ready for bed. When I got in next to Bill, he pulled out the ring. I was completely shocked! He told me how he had planned to ask me all night, but it just didn't go as planned. The first words out of my mouth were "Oh, so that's what's wrong with you!" Then, I said "yes." We still laugh every time we tell that story, and I think we will be staying at that same hotel every time we back go to Paris for the rest of our lives.

LOL, cute story.. My FI had planned on getting on stage at a comedy club but chickend out.. so we asked me at a club upstairs after the show. LOL I remember him walking into the club and that very second he went for a drink and all I thought was "wow, that so unlike him, I wonder if he's stressed from working so much" I later found out it was because he was stressed about asking me,, Course the first words out of my mouth was "no, your suppose to be down on one knee" ROFL..

Anyway, so like you evertime we go to that show I'm going to think back on how he proposed. :-)

Oh that is such a sweet story. France is such a romantic setting. I spent 6 months in souther france in a small city Montpellier and I absolutly fell in love with the atmosphere the old architexture and the care free attitude and love of life the french have. OHHHH how romantic. I would pay millions to have my future husband propose to me in Paris

Ali what a great story....isn't it funny how guys get all nervous and just stop acting like themselves?

Terry and I were in Cancun when he asked me and I just remember him sweating a few days before and I mean literally water dripping down his face that's how nervous he was...he planned on asking me a hundred times when were there but no moment seemed right 2 him until we were in our room sitting on the balcony on new years eve he finally got the courage

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
