Why you shouldn't involve your FI in planning......

OMG, so as most of you know I returned from Cabo early Friday morning. Well last night was the first chance I had to sit down with Cain and go over everything that we did in Cabo and show him the pictures. I was telling him how much I loved the Sheraton and that I thought it was perfect for us. So I continue to show him pictures of resorts, and beaches and were now on Melia San Lucas, he said "there, that's where I want to get married" I explained to him that it's a public beach and one of the only few that allows you to swim in so the beach area is really busy. He said he loves the rock formation background and wants that for our ceremony. I think Melia San Lucas is an amazing resort, very pretty. BUT I just don't think it's too busy for a beach ceremony. So now I feel like this whole trip to Cabo was worthless and I'm back to square one. I'm lost, I have NO clue where to go from here. I'm trying SOOOO hard to accommodate his wants but at the same time it just makes things harder on me. I tried to explain to him that it's a waste of time to travel all over Cabo to take pictures in one place, get married in another, have our dinner in a different location and then have a club type place to go to afterwards. But all he says is, "I just like those rocks in the background and is there another place that has them that's on a quieter beach?"

So girls, I plead for your help. Since most of you have been in Cabo, can anyone come up with any good ideas for us? Does the beaches empty out at a certain time of the day to where if we had it at the Melia that we wouldn't have a problem?

BTW, this wedding is going to be the death of me,, I swear.. smile105.gif

Wow Tammy, this sounds like an exact repeat of what I was going through. Cain totally should have gone with you because this is what finally shut Jeff up about stuff he did not understand! Once he got there, saw Dreams and knew that was what I wanted he was totally fine with it.

Is Cain just offering you his opinion because you have asked for it? That was one thing Jeff said was really frustrating him. I would ask his opinion, then get mad at him when it wasn't the same as mine. Does Cain really have that strong of an opinion about the location? If he does, try to compromise- maybe you could still get married at the Sheraton, but go to the public beach for some more pics.

Go with your gut and get married at the place you feel is right for you two. Don't get frustrated because he's throwing out other options- you went to Cabo, you loved the Sheraton- do it there.

I know he really want's two things, to be married on the beach (I agree one this one) and he told me he want's "rocks" in the back ground.. Well he didn't tell me he wanted those famous rock formation in the back ground.

Maybe if I tell him, "we can hire Juan for an additional hour, go take pictures on that beach before our ceremony or after and then get married at the Sheraton on their beach" maybe he he know's it's going to cost him more money then he'll either curb the idea or say that's fine.. Heres the problem, IF he says yes, we would still have the problem of being on a very busy beach. Is their a beach that would be less crowded with the same viewhuh.gifhuh.gifhuh.gifhuh.gif

I don't know- pretty much every beach we went to with El Arco in the background had lots of people by it. What about Sunset Da Mona Lisa? Well, I guess that's not being married on the beach. Hmmm...at the Riu you could get married on the beach with the rocks in the background, probably at any of those hotels on Medano beach- but, you will have people. I don't think there's any way around that unless you can find some sort of private villa.

HI Tammy-

Finisterra's beach is on the Pacific side of the rock formation and there is no public access. This serene backdrop is one of the main reasons we chose it. You get the back side of the lands end rock formation and then Pedregal kindof overlooks the beach. There are quite a few traveler photos on tripadvisor to give you a feel for what it looks like.

Good luck!

Well I talk to Cain more about it at lunch and I think we came up with a solution. Were going to hire Juan for another hour so we can take pictures in a different location before the ceremony so that he gets the pictures he wants.

However now that Jen suggested Finisterra I'll have to look into that more.. :-) But if worst comes to worst, Oh darn we have to have more time with Juan to get even more wonderful photos. :-)

I'm chiming in late but I think that's a great idea (hiring Juan to take some more pictures - you could even do it the day before so as to not cramp your wedding day).

Do the rocks have to be THE famous rocks or will any rocks do?

Also sounds like Finisterra is a great option!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
