Hello lovely ladies,

I'm looking to get some advice and or ideas.

Since my mother is no longer with us, I wanted to find a way to include her in this special day.  I have seen the idea where couples leave a chair empty and reserved for that special person.  I really like that idea.  Here's where it could be awkward though.  So my dad will be at the wedding with his new wife.  She's great and she's been very supportive for this wedding.  I don't know where to put the empty chair.  I don't want it to be awkward for her if she's sitting next to it.  the space is quite small where we are getting married so I don't know if that's the best option but it was one that I really liked.  I really don't want her to feel uncomfortable.

Let me know what you ladies think! :)

Ohhhh, I think that a few people from  her side will be attending.  Maybe I could have them sit near it.  I've seen some brides put that chair front and centre.  But I don't know if it's too much of a downer.

I've seen people put a picture of their lost loved one on the empty chair. That way you would be able to see your mom's smiling face on your big day

I lost my mom 11 years ago. Hugs to you. I had considered putting her picture on the signing table but in the end got a bouquet charm and I had her picture in it (see attached). It's from etsy and a Canadian seller if you are interested.

What a beautiful picture!  I like that idea too.  If my dad wasn't remarried I wouldn't think twice about the chair idea.  I will definitely be mentioning her in my speech.  I'm really trying to be accommodating.

@calgarybride2015  what does the charm attach to?  is it a clasp or a pin through the ribbon?

I could probably make one! :)

My dad is also remarried and HE mentioned my mom in his speech :) everyone knows who your mom is and that they once were married and I think it all should be fine. I talk about my mom to my step mom. She knew her :)

It's a clasp. I had scissors and just cut some of the ribbon to attach it. I could have also just attached it at the top of the ribbon without fully using the clasp if that makes sense. I can take a better pic later and show you.

That would be great!  I'd love to see it in more detail so that I can make myself one this weekend : )

    • I am! But I just signed the contract last night so likely won't be of any assistance yet regarding planning.  Responding so I can follow the thread :)

    • Hello, I am getting married after 2 months. I and my fiancee were searching for a beautiful spot for our pre-wedding photoshoot. And finally, we have selected Algonquin Park. We have decided to do some adventurous activities there. In the video, we would like to show our moments of trying adventures together. Especially, hiking and canoeing. It would be really fun. We have found a suitable trail for hiking in Algonquin Park. Had anyone tried hiking there? What would be the estimated amount for it? Please do share it here. Thanks!
    • Anybody getting married at the fives beach hotel in playa del carmen in 2020? I'd like to connect with others as we are experiencing some issues and misinformation with the karisma transition. Hoping we can all help each other!
    • Pronovias Pria Wedding Dress. Sweetheart neckline with beautiful soft lace detailing throughout. Low lace back with button detailing. This dress falls beautifully on your silhouette and is so comfortable to wear. Bought a size 16 for my big hips, but tailored it to fit more like a 12-14 (in street clothes I'm a size 10). If you're looking for a destination wedding dress that won't make you sweat all night, this one is for you! I absolutely loved this dress and will miss never wearing it again.  Alterations: Ribbon empire bow on belt at waist was removed and replaced with a sparkly applique. Train was removed. More pictures are available. Paid $1400 Cdn, asking for $500 - it's in good shape (looks like new with no markings!) and has already been professionally cleaned.
