  1. Hello Ladies! It's been a while since I've posted anything on this forum. The wedding blues were definitely a factor. I recently discovered this cute little bridal boutique at Yonge and Bloor called the Bridal Path. They do a lot of customization products for weddings and other occasions. I just picked up an ornament that I designed for my sister as a thank you for all her help during the wedding. I know you can get these ornaments done at Shutterfly and Blacks.ca but the advantage i found here is that it is slightly cheaper and you can get a 1 day turn around if you are in a hurry or a very last minute person like myself. Here is the boutique info: Bridal Path//2 Bloor Street West, JUnit L24C Lower concourse level//416-944-9170
  2. Hi @Streelbride thank you! Our guests loved the booklets as well. It was such a fun thing to put together. We used photoshop and Canva to design them and then had then printed at a print shop. We didn't use a template as we just kinda designed it on our own. I'll ask the hubby if there is a way to provide you with a template of it. maybe send you the file and you file in your own info? I'll ask and let you know! : )
  3. Hi ladies! I'm so sorry, I'm totally sick and going straight home after work. I would normally try to fight through it, but we fly out to Mexico on Monday and I don't want to be sick for the trip. Going to the walk in clinic boooo. So sorry, I was really looking forward to this.
  4. Hi ladies!! I will definitely be there! Can't wait. I'm excited to report that we are leaving for the Mayan Oct 5 th! We are going to spend our honeymoon or mini honeymoon at the Mayan -yay
  5. Hi @doonajo88 Congrats on your upcoming wedding! So happy to hear you are going to be getting married at the Princess. I was in the same boat as you. I wasn't sure if I was going to have a friend do may hair or have the resort salon do it. In the end I made an appointment when I arrived. I just walked over to the spa and made the appointment. My wedding was at 4pm and my hair app was for 10:30 and make up I had done around 1pm. I just realized that you are getting married on cinco de mayo! how fun!
  6. @@vancouverpetunia I definitely do!! I have to finish off my wedding review, you just made me remember!! ahh .... I think there are some pictures of the bms on my review link below. and i'll add a few here. Here you go!!!! Just a few that i could find.... I will work on my wedding review soon, gotta do it while it is relatively fresh!
  7. @@calgarybride2015 Omg i feel a little better after reading that you didn't get your dress dry cleaned yet. I havne't even opened my dress bag since arriving back from the wedding. I did jump in the pool with the dress on which actually got rid of a lot of the dirt at the bottom of the dress. It was for a photo session, not an alternative to cleaning it. haha I still haven't decided whether I should sell the dress, or hang on it...I'm not really ready to make a decision yet. My mother in law wants to save it for my "future daughter" to wear...so ya. lol who knows.
  8. @@TinkerSofi Isn't that funny!! I'm so glad you did the things you wanted to do. Groomzillo and I had those moments too. We actually found his dad being a little critical with us. He saw us putting together all our giveaways and was being a little judgmental about the amount of money we were spending. Once at the resort, and around his family and friends, he was finally like, wow, everyone loves these and we were both so happy we did it. He definitely ate his words. Sometimes people have a hard time seeing the big picture. The only thing I didn't do, and Groomzillo got in my way, was the walky talkies! That would have helped us out a lot because some areas didn't have wifi. And our parents don't have cellphones so that would have helped. My husband said they were a waste and I literally ran out of time to get them, I had a pocket of time that I could have gotten them in ...but it just didn't happen. did you guys end up using them?
  9. @@calgarybride2015 edit: Canadian living in Playa Del Carmen. I bought my Sparklers through her. If you are in the Playa Del Carmen area she's a good option.
  10. Hi! Where in mexico are you looking? I know a vendor for sparklers in Playa del carmen. Apparently they sell sparklers around Christmas time, it's more the tradition and then they stop selling them after Christmas.
  11. Awww, the worst is when you don't even hear it directly from the persons mouth. Hang in there, it's unfortunate but very rarely, regardless of whether it is a destination wedding or hometown wedding, is anyone really immune to the disappointments. I do find that with local weddings, most of the people that you invite end up attending, so you don't have the disappointments there as much but it's still possible to be annoyed with your bridal party if they are not pulling their own weight. Hang tight, you are getting so close to the good part! When we got together last friday I was sharing with the other end of the table a few of my upsets with the wedding. We had many and I never really bothered to type them up on the forum because I think that I would reach my entry limit if I did. hahaha We were really heart broken with my husband's brothers who just didn't get involved in the process at all. My husband was literally in tears, like hurt because of it. It broke my heart. Those connections are really broken right now and I was nervous about what the wedding would be like with key people like them not in attendance. As we stood up to give our speeches at the reception, and we felt the sense of relief and we entered the celebration portion of the wedding, I had the chance to really look around the room and as I paid close attention to our guests with huge smiles on their faces, with their pretty beach wedding outfits that they carefully picked out, their presence was overwhelming. I broke down in tears because I realized we had really pulled it off. We did it. We had the dream wedding we wanted and we had the most important people there with us, and we were happy, and they were happy and it was epic. It wasn't perfect, we had our detours, the upsets impacted friendships that are probably lost for good... but honestly, how boring would my story be if I told you that I planned a wedding, it worked out perfectly, the end. hahaha I can't wait to meet up in October. I hope that you just like @ can take some time away from the disappointments. Save your energies for the good moments because there will be soooo many!! ; )
  12. I am free! yay. We are planning for an October getaway, but I'm pretty sure early October works for me!
  13. How exciting! That's a good idea to get some weights. I think you can find some really unique and inexpensive ones on Etsy. They might arrive on time if you order, like now...haha. I did a last minute veil change and didn't have a second to even think about veil weights. I did a medium length cascade veil for the ceremony and pictures and birdcage veil for the reception. I was really happy with my choices.
  14. Wow, your decor is setting the tone for a magically romantic wedding. That is so great that your bridesmaid is able to attend. That right there is a testament to your friendship. It really shows how much she values your friendship and that they made the sacrifice for only one of them to go. I had a situation where a friend of mine was in a similar boat, she was supposed to be our officiant and we even offered to pay for her and she decided to back out. We were awfully hurt by it as she backed out 3 months before the wedding. Anyway, long story short, I think it's great to see your friends commitment. so special! yay!
  15. I didn't catch if you are having a legal or symbolic wedding. If you are having a legal wedding in Mexico there is a requirement of being at the hotel 4 consecutive business days for you and your witnesses. For a symbolic I do not believe there is a requirement of how many days you need to be there before. We designed our week so that the wedding would fall in the middle. Our wedding week was from Wednesday to Wednesday and the wedding day falling on the Saturday. The majority of our guests stayed for the full week but having the wedding on the sat helped some of guests book a 4 day weekend trip since they could take the entire week off. It had its perks. We had a welcome dinner on the Wednesday, bachelorette/bachelor party on the thursday and Friday was last minute things, and prep. I don't think we could have gotten away with doing it any sooner than that. Sunday we had a photoshoot and Monday we had an excursion. Tuesday we relaxed and cursed ourselves for not booking a longer trip, and Wednesday was home time. Good luck with your booking. How exciting that you are staying at a brand new hotel.
  16. @maybeoneday How have I not read your planning thread before? What a story and what a testament to your love and your relationship with your FI. You have lived so much, lost so much and are choosing to move forward together, forever. I'm so proud of you for sticking to your dream and vision. I hope it is everything you have hoped for and given everhything you have been through, it will be so epic. A few ideas for your Wedding timecapsule... he he. You could save your hair piece, if you are wearing anything decorative in your hair. Save a few flowers from the bouquet. You could also get a nice little cake topper. We had a papel picado one made to match the mexian décor theme we had. I know the resort has towels, but you could design a fun little towel that says mr. and mrs. weddingchicks.com has sooo many fun things. You guys could design a fun tote to commemorate your special event. You guys could also design a fun tumbler with a logo and have the bartender refill your drinks in your tumbler. awww, I'm really happy for you and I love the new revised bouquet colour! Here are a few pics of the topper and tumbler to give you some inspiration.
  17. Very beautiful! In no time we will be seeing the dress in full action! What kind of veil did you decide to go with?
  18. @@deecol We definitely missed you! For our next meetupWe will have perfected the meet up by having roundtables! I am totally free for the next one. I hope everyone from last round can make it and we pick up a few more joiners. Watch out Toronto, Destination wedding brides are taking over!
  19. How was it???!!! How does it feel to be back? A few of the Toronto brides met up on Friday and we were all talking about how excited we were for you!! xoxo
  20. This was my dress A lace mermaid gown with beaded sash, corset, and chapel train from David's Bridal. (V3680) Surprisingly I wasn't too hot in the dress. I felt the heat during the pictures but I stayed hydrated and it seemed to help. One tip, alternations sewed my crinoline skirt into the bottom of the dress. When I tried the dress on at David's Bridal I was sweating buckets with the material of the crinoline skirt underneath the dress. It really helped me stay cool by eliminating that layer of fabric. When I saw this dress, I knew it was the one for me.
  21. A big thank you to all you lovely ladies! It was so nice to finally meet you in person. As @@diadiamond said earlier, we have an instant bond over such an epic life experience. There is nothing ordinary about you extraordinary ladies! Thank you @@snswedding2016 for making the reservation. It was so nice meeting you and I'm sure we will meet again. @@acw271011 it was very lovely to meet you. Thank you for all you do on the forum. It's very obvious how much time you put into it and it honestly helps brides-to-be feel more comfortable sharing their stories when they have someone supporting their stories and literally, "liking" their stories. @ So nice to meet you!! I probably e-interacted with you the most. I was always literally 10 steps behind you in my planning process and you helped me out with so many things, whether it was BM dress, kimonos and just plain logical solutions. You were like my forum bridesmaid! hahaha. It was so great to meet you and meeting you in person confirmed that I knew we'd totally be friends in real life! @@Meandhim & krystalball It was a pleasure meeting you ladies. I'm so glad I was able to share my pictures with you ladies. I think I was a casualty of the rectangle tables as I totally missed out on bonding with you ladies. I hope that when the second round comes I can hear more about your experiences. @@Laurena1229 It super nice meeting you as well and learning about your planning stages and sharing some of the same frustrations. I hope you can make it to next one and I can't wait to see pictures of you in your dress. Just hearing you describe it I'm sure it's epic! special shout out to @@calgarybride2015 I definitely mentioned your name a few times during our meetup, very grateful for you on this forum.
  22. @@diadiamond I was just reading through your planning thread and stumbled upon the last entry. That was so nice of you to write. It was lovely meeting you. I do wish I had a chance to chat with you more and the other half of the table. @@snswedding2016 round tables are a must, absolutely. Diadiamond, I didn't realize how quickly your wedding is coming up. It's like a month away, wow. THANK YOU for taking time out of your busy planning days to meet with us. It was nice reading your post as it just shows how much of a sincere and genuine person you are. Wishing you all the best and hopefully the next time we all get together we get to hear about your wedding! xoxo
  23. HAPPY WEDDING DAY!!! These friendships that we've made here are so special. I'm truly excited for you and I wish you and Juan and amazing, memorable wedding day!! Enjoy it, soak it all in....it's such an epic time! xoxoxo
  24. We bought a dress bag to take to Mexico with us. It was supposed to protect the dress. The night before we left I had it all packed and ready to go until I realized that I would have wayyyy more street cred if the airline staff saw David's Bridal bag and the white and puffiness of the dress bag. I didn't want to miss out on any extra perks and I knew that if they saw the dress I would be likely to get even better customer service! They gave us a shout out on the plan and alcohol the whole way to Mexico. #StreetCred yay @@Meandhim
