Hello,

I'm looking to use Westjet Vacations for my destination wedding in November 2015. My travel agent has been steering me away because Westjet doesn't hold rooms like the other charters and Air Canada do. I like that Westjet has direct set flights from Saskatoon to Puerto Vallarta and better pricing. Has anyone been to a destination wedding with Westjet Vacations or using them for their wedding? Has the experience been good?

Welcome to BDW! I'm sure there is someone out there familiar with Westjet. I have steered away from them only because I find they're expensive compared to some of the other charters and having travelled with both Transat and Sunwing, I prefer to stick with them.

Good luck and happy planning!

I have booked mine with Air Transat because they came back with the cheapest rates for my group. Good luck with your decision.

We booked through Westjet vacations because they were direct and the cheapest flight. So far so good!

We booked our group through Westjet as well since their pricing was by far the best. My only advice is if you go with Westjet have your travel agent explain thoroughly what all their stipulations and policies are for group bookings. They are much more strict with how things get booked. We almost switched to another provider off that reason but we didn't want our guests to pay more just so I wouldn't have a headache at the end of the day :)

Our first TA steered us against Westjet too because they required higher deposits up front. We ended up going with who was cheapest for us which was Air Canada Vacations. We actually ended up putting down deposits for 10 rooms the way we would have with Westjet!

@LissaSou How far in advance did you confirm pricing with Westjet? I was thinking 10-11 months might be the magic number with Westjet. Were your group quotes you received higher or lower than what was on their site?

I like westjet but was advised to use Sunwing or Air Transat because they both serve hot meals and a few other extras. Plus they were the first to come back with rates.

@peachykeen159 we had our pricing in February 2014 for our February 2015 wedding. My travel agent recently checked the price if our guests were to book on their own right now and it was almost $300 more per person for the same week we are there including airfare.
