Good tip - I'll put something similar about price watching.

I'm still waiting for my quote and hoping that it will be the lowest price, but from what I saw before, Expedia was actually offering the same flight + hotel deal for a few hundred cheaper than packaged vacations. So it would have actually been cheaper for guests to book through Expedia which would not count toward the group booking. But I haven't received my group quote yet from my new agent and am hoping it is lower than everything else

@tygrrlily  Just a tip, but a lot of times even if you can find cheaper room and flight rates online at Expedia or similar sites, these often do not include everything the group rate includes when booking w/ a TA or the resort directly. For example shuttle to and from airport, additional taxes, etc. My mom is a travel agent and has planned many weddings and she just wants to pull her hair out at all the times that people think they have found a cheaper rate online but end up with more costs because of paying all the incidentals individually instead of having them built in. I'm sure this is not always the case, but something to think about!

Our prices were for the resort only - since we had people traveling from many different locations, it wasn't possible to do a package with airfare included. So we posted prices for different room categories.

our wedding website is still up if you're curious. It's on the "Getting there and Pricing" tab.

If you happen to be a Canadian bride, packages including airfare are much more common. And I would definitely post those if they are available for your guests.

Very helpful:) I love that you share your knowledge with future brides.

I would only suggest including pricing information if you're offering a package deal with set dates and airfare. Otherwise, just have your guests contact the travel agents. I did let my guests know, though, that they're not obligated to book with our agents if they find a better deal elsewhere. I wanted this to be an easy experience for them so I didn't want to force anything on anyone. Since our guests are coming from several different countries, a good number of them found their own package deals and I'm totally fine with that. Another downside to posting prices - your guests will contact you if they have questions about pricing and booking. Let the TA's do their job. You have enough to worry about!

we did.  We don't have quoted locked pricing for airfare.  Only on rooms and shuttle transfers.

We tried to put as much information to help our guests plan their stay.   we included room options, pricing for rooms and transportation.

you can see our wedding website here for some ideas:

I did this too - my TA asked me to let everyone know that info. If there WAS a cheaper price, she'd try to negotiate it for the whole group. In the end, our rate was the best price. The only folks who booked outside the group were people who used their timeshare to travel. Two friends used the timeshare and stayed at our resort, the other 4 stayed at different resorts.

So definitely put it on there!

Good read. I was debating doing this too!

Is anyone putting anything along the lines of a "if you find a cheaper rate, please contact the TA to see if they can price match it" or are you just leaving it empty? I'm not sure if I word it that way if people will be more inclined to look elsewhere haha.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
