@@TinkerSofi - It's SNOWING?! Where!? I can't even process that! But yes, August is most likely to be hot and humid, like most of the year. 5 PM will definitely be better than when I shot there at 2 PM. The sun will still be a little hot, but the temperature will be on it's way down (the light will be more flattering at 5). But it's also getting to the start of the rainy season, so you might get a few 'cool off' showers or partly cloudy days which are nice. I personally think May is the most blazing month and September is the rainiest month if that helps. Last year it poured everyday from August 27th-Oct. 3rd - but this year has been much better - so it all depends on the weather that year, haha.

And sorry, I don't have photos of that reception anymore. I archive photos for a year on a hard drive, then keep a few of my favorites for my portfolio - but I couldn't find any from the reception, I'm sorry ;( I did a search on here and found someone blogged about it and there is a picture of the set-up http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/38283-katkens-azul-sensatori-review-6509/ and on pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/371054456771166836/

Good Luck!

thanks for the info! We were there last year for May and we got really crappy, windy days to the point that we couldn't be on the beach without getting sandblasted all day (doesn't mean we didn't try haha). Then we were in Cancun in January and it rained 4/7 days we were there. The best weather we ever got there was in August haha, that was part of our decision :). I think just like anywhere else it's a bit of a lottery. I live in Calgary, Canada and yeah we got a whole lot of snow this week, surprisingly and sadly.

Ahhh... I remember that May well. We had a lot of friends visiting us from the states, and we could hardly stand the beach, the sand hurt so bad :( It seems in May and June the wind blows really low like that. I'm still figuring out the meteorological conditions down here. But hey! It's the tropics and pretty hard to predict 100% (or even 50%) most of the year! Positive note, if it did rain... I think the photos come out even better sometimes! The sea illuminates bright turquoise! But fingers crossed, no rain - either way you'll be fine!

So many brides from Calgary! I've had 2! And you guys seem to be holding up to your nice Canadian stereotype up there :)

Hi Ladies- For those of you having a night event on the beach, are any of you going to have stringed lights?  My WC told me I would need 4 strings and that the total cost would be $2,500!  I also wanted to have paper lanterns for our reception in the grand garden and I've been waiting for weeks now to find out how many strings I'd need and what the cost would be.

If anyone is bring their own lights and/or paper lanterns, would you please share how many you're bringing?  I figure I could at least buy my own paper lanterns, but then I'd either need to still use Lomas' lights or figure out how many stringed lights I'd need to buy on my own.

Hi everyone, so I thought I'd pass on the latest bit of knowledge I got. I asked my WC whether we'd get refunded the fee for the sky deck if we need to move the wedding inside due to weather. She said only up to 30% would be refunded (a bit of a rip off if you ask me)

I also asked about extending the reception at the sky deck past 11. She told me it's $14 per person per hour.

@@TinkerSofi I've been charged $9pp 11pm-midnight then every hour after midnight is $14pp

Should I call her out on it and say that I know someone else is paying $9 per hour until 12? I guess the fiance and I would have to be pretty sure that we want to extend it before actually fighting it haha. I told him about the $14pp yesterday and he said no and won't budge :(

I would!!! That covers the open bar staying open for that extra time too- (I believe)... If that helps convincing the FI!

I told him I was worried that we would be all rushed with 4 hours but still nothing. I'll talk it over with him again when I see him next

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
